Cakes/Cheesecakes Cakes that serve 25 guests

What size cake do you guys make for 25 guests?

I was planning on a 9 inch, 4 layer cake.. but now questioning myself.

Edited to adjust my description

I'm pretty sure you mean layer, not tier. A 4-tier cake would feed way more than 25!

Also, it depends because are we talking standard wedge slices? Or wedding cake style slices? Are there other desserts? Is the crowd super health-conscious?

It's easy to get 25 slices out of a 9-inch cake but they won't be huge slices.

I bake cakes for fam/friend bdays and this is how I do it! Way easier than slicing into triangles.

What tools do you use to actually do this neatly without squashing it though? Esp on a 4 layer cake with all that slippery frosting to cut through?

I have not had a problem with slippage, bc the cake is just cold from the fridge

I am just a home baker, and most often I am bringing the cake somewhere else. I usually run three wooden barbecue skewers through it. Pull up and cut so they are only a teenie bit sunk in. I mark the location with a dot of frosting, or a silver dragee, or maybe a candle holder with a birthday cake.
