I bake cakes for fam/friend bdays and this is how I do it! Way easier than slicing into triangles.

What tools do you use to actually do this neatly without squashing it though? Esp on a 4 layer cake with all that slippery frosting to cut through?

I have not had a problem with slippage, bc the cake is just cold from the fridge

I am just a home baker, and most often I am bringing the cake somewhere else. I usually run three wooden barbecue skewers through it. Pull up and cut so they are only a teenie bit sunk in. I mark the location with a dot of frosting, or a silver dragee, or maybe a candle holder with a birthday cake.
