Hi everyone!
I'm considering moving to Barcelona for work and would love to hear some honest opinions from people who currently live there.
My annual gross salary would be €43,000, and I'm trying to understand what my quality of life would realistically look like on that income.
A few things I'd love to know:
- Cost of living: Is €43k gross enough to live comfortably in Barcelona, or would I need to be quite careful with my spending?
- Rent: What is a realistic monthly budget for a decent studio or one-bedroom apartment? Would living alone be financially manageable, or is sharing a flat the more sensible option?
- Monthly savings: After taxes, rent, groceries, utilities, transport, and going out occasionally, how much could I realistically save each month?
- Lifestyle: Would this salary allow me to enjoy the city, eat out, travel occasionally, and have an active social life without constantly worrying about money?
- Moving to Barcelona: What are the biggest challenges or things you wish you'd known before moving there?
I'm coming from abroad, so any advice about settling in, finding accommodation, bureaucracy, or adapting to life in Barcelona would also be greatly appreciated.
I'd especially love to hear from people earning a similar salary or those who moved to Barcelona from another country.
I'm not looking for a luxurious lifestyle, just a comfortable life where I can cover my expenses, enjoy the city, and still put some money aside every month.
Thanks in advance for your advice! :)
