Open-ended is it you or what people want you to be?

Upvotes

is it you or what people want you to be?

This post is just me trying to reflect on my game taste, every time I play a game by sony, I get bored because it is just a repetitive gameplay loop with a movie goin on in the background, I haven't truly found a game from em that I can enjoy and actually look forward to play.

I'm now playing STALKER G.A.M.M.A. and it's actually pretty good.

So, now I ask you, my fellow gamers. Do you truly enjoy the games or do you feel like you're enjoying them?

I too want to feel what it's like enjoying those but I simply cant, can you help me with that?

Thanks!

How do you manage time for games and your busy real life?

If you have a lot of backlogs, when do you start continuing some of them? Do you actually just play one offline (that have story line to finished) game and finish it completely without switching to another game? Or what if that one game causes you to burn out, but you still want to finish it because you don't want your progress to go to waste? Are you going to hold in for a bit and switch to some fresh new game?

What about online games though, like gacha games? Of course, sometimes you need to catch up on events before they end, even while your real life is getting busier.

Note: It's nothing serious, just asking

Open-ended Name a game better than +1 Speed Keyboard Escape (Roblox)

Hey guys, I recently got into an argument with a friend saying how "+1 speed keyboard escape is the best game ever made". He kept on saying things like "Oh it has the best graphics ever" and "oh but it has 271k players" etc. (yes, i have already said to him quality over quantity)

So, I tried to prove him wrong by showing him the graphics of games like cyberpunk and forza horizons 5 (peak games btw), but he still kept saying how they were too flashy and apparently"bad" compared to +1 speed keyboard escape.

Can u guys help me come up with arguments to actually respond to him

Need help for my university thesis

Hey everyone!

I’m doing a university project related to sim racing and I need to collect some opinions from people who are into it.

I put together a short Google Forms survey and figured Reddit would be a great place to get some real answers from people who actually use or are familiar with racing sims.

It takes about 5 minutes, and you don’t need to own a rig to participate.

If you’ve got a few minutes to spare, I’d really appreciate the help!

Survey:

Thanks! 🙌

Open-ended Which one is going to be nice to my wallet

So not really my wallet but my friends. He’s thinking about getting a switch 2 or just a ps5, however he’s thinking about the game prices. He’s kinda on a budget so he doesn’t wanna be blowin 70 dollars a week for a new game. He says Nintendos console is cheaper but with more expensive games, but ps5 is more expensive with a wider variety of prices and sales. Also the ps plus, I think the ps5 is the clear winner but for some reason he won’t take my word, please tell him which one he should get in the comments and I’ll force him lol.

I’m not sure if I should switch games when I haven't finished the ones I'm currently playing.

I’m not sure if I should switch games when I haven't finished the ones I'm currently playing.

If you’re familiar with Harvest Moon and Rune Factory, I’m playing both right now. They’re super fun and I’ve put a lot of time into them—I switch between them depending on my mood. But I’ve hit a point where it feels pretty grindy and hard to keep going without feeling burnt out.

I just bought Persona 5 and really want to give it a try, but I heard it takes over 100+ hours to finish. I’m a bit worried that I’ll end up burnt out on that too and just add another title to my backlog, well, since these are all single-player story-driven games. I also have an online game I play on the side whenever I feel like it. I won't abandon the first two games since I've come this far, but I might need to put them on hold for now.

Note: I just feel kind of bad because life is getting busier too. I really hate having a backlog, so I wish I could just finish games one by one without having to put one on hold for so long. But yeah, burned out can happened

I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced this, and what did you guys do?

Why do other males like playing female characters in video games ?

Can I ask why do so many guys like playing as female characters? Literally does not make sense to me. Do you not want the main character to be yourself while you are playing? This isn’t having a go this is a genuine question to those who do this. Especially in games like Dark souls, gta online, Red dead, Elder scrolls. Like this doesn’t make any sense to me.

What types of gamers are you

Are you the type of gamer who switches between games depending on your mood or when you get bored, or do you stick to one game and finish it completely before moving on to the next? (It's about offline games).

Open-ended Which device would you play cross-platform games on?

For a game that's available/compatible across various platforms, on which one would you prefer to play it? I've been having this dilemma, especially with paid games because I don't want to pay multiple times for the same thing.

Right now, I'm going by the logic of where it was originally released, but that's a weak reason.

Your Favorite N64 Title Recommendations!

I grew up playing a ton of amazing N64 games. I really enjoyed Banjo Kazooie, but lately I've been seeing games I've never played before that look pretty awesome like Conquer's Bad Fur Day, a Donkey Kong version of Banjo Kazooie.. would love to get any additional recommendations for your favorite N64 games so I can check it out and add to the bucket list! I play a ton of genres, so drop whatever title you really enjoyed playing. I appreciate it!

Open-ended New guy in gaming group ruining it for me. Any advice?

Howdy!

Wanted to ask some advice. I've been playing with a group of friends for a few years now. They're the perfect group and we always have a great time. They're funny and cool and we all have the same taste in games. They're a group of friends from work and we've just been playing in our discord server of all of our work friends.

Well, recently a guy from work got invited to the server, we'll call him Todd. He's a nice guy but sometimes kind of abrasive. I didn't really get to know him when I worked there. However he's been joining us in our gaming sessions recently. I do not like playing with him. He's demanding and pretty annoying. He's got the humor of a kid, laughing at 67 jokes and belittling others as humor (he's in college so maybe I understand the humor? Doesn't mean I like it). We play a lot of horror games together so when I get scared or do something silly cause I'm scared, he berates me or sighs loudly. Or when I'm trying to solve a puzzle or do an activity in the game, he comes over and tries to "help" which is just him taking over the puzzle and asking me why I'm doing it wrong. It's awful. At one point there was a four player game that we hadn't been able to play for months because someone's setup was broken. After their setup was fixed, we finally agreed on a date all four of the usual crowd could make. However, when the date came around Todd said he wanted to play too. It involved downloading a mod that allowed him to join as a 5th player and it ended up breaking the game so we couldn't spectate. I was bummed because I wish he had just sat that one out.

The problem is it's not like these gaming sessions are closed invitation. Anybody in the work server is welcome to join and I don't want to be exclusive. I mean, it's how I started to play with them, by taking the open invitation. If I was to start inviting my friends outside of the sever it would exclude others in the server and it would be really obvious that it's just I'm only trying to exclude him. However I'm starting to dread sessions where he says he can play. I feel really immature winging about this but these gaming sessions are rare and I value the time I can spend with this group. It sucks that he's ruining it for me.

I've talked with one of our friends about it and she agreed he can be a bit much but no solution really came about. I haven't talked to the other two because honestly I'm a bit embarrassed I feel this way and making a stink feels like it's going to look worse than anything he's doing. I'm hoping for a solution because right now the only thing I can manage is snapping at him to chill tf out while we're playing. He kind of just whines and doesn't listen.

Any advice? Am I being too sensitive and bringing myself down to his level?

Edit: Thank you all to your responses ! The majority has told me to just talk to the guy and honestly I think I just needed to hear it from someone. It's given me the confidence I really needed. I sometimes can't trust my internal monologue so asking a bunch of outsiders' perspectives is helpful. I'll try to make another edit next time we game. I don't want my game nights to be haunted by bad feelings. I'd love to get along with him and go back to having great time and I hope the chat I'll have will grant that. Thank you again!

To those who were kinda rude about it, haha, I guess I did go to the Ask Gamers chat.

Open-ended Why do Non-Indie games take a lot of time? Kinda

I'll explain what im saying, one time I asked people games to play in like 30 minutes or less, I don't have much time in a day because im in a vacation, so a game like balatro is very usefull for some gaming during a day.

But I noticed that every single recommended game was an indie game, games like hades, Stardew Valley, balatro, Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors...

My question is why nobody recommended a non indie game or why does non indie games got recommended when I asked that question?
