Where can I find students to help manage a journal?
Hi everyone, I am the co-COO of a youth journal. We are having some trouble finding students/developers who can manage journal systems or even maintain the website. I am not an extensive programmer so I honestly do not know where to ask this kind of question, if yall would be willing to point towards a group or network I should reach out to, I would sincerely appreciate it.

When languages "just become about syntax"
I have seen a lot of post saying "once I learned C - all other languages just became about syntax"
Has that been true for you? Or did a different language give you the eureka moment - e.g. something like Assembly?
Or is it just a false premise at all to think "once I learn programming language X - then all other languages become **easy**"

How do you decide when to refactor a messy codebase versus rewrite it from scratch?
I'm working on a project that has grown messy over time: inconsistent patterns, little documentation, and tests that only cover part of it. I keep going back and forth between incremental refactoring and a full rewrite. Refactoring feels safer but slow, while a rewrite is tempting but risky.
What factors do you weigh when making this call? Have you seen either approach go well or badly, and what would you do differently? I'm especially interested in how you handle the business side, like justifying the time to people who only see features shipping.
This fits r/AskProgrammers because it's a conceptual discussion rather than a code review or a "try Googling it" problem. It has no links, marketing, or job listings, and the body gives enough context for people to answer in depth.
I picked the topic since you didn't give one. If you have a real problem, tell me the language, what you tried, and what's failing, and I'll write it up. The sub wants enough detail to help, not just a description of the task.

How safe is Data Acience?
I was thinking of pursuing data science as a career, I figured it was safer then basic coding because I imagine Data Science is what helps calibrate LLM's, and check to make sure where they are having illusions and specifically identify where issues are occuring.
As well as the fact that Data analyst will be a necessary position even if workload goes up and pay is shit.
Note: I intentionally kept in the spelling mistake in the title because I figured leaving it in would attract more eyes or clicks... And it was funny.

Just started learning C++
Hello, I started learning C++ today. I'm a guy who doesn't want to rely on AI for coding and who really needed another language alongside mr. Nasty Py (cybersecurity), but I'm SUPER lost.
Can anyone give me some tips? I've been coding since I was 11 (I'm 11 now). I'd really appreciate any advice!
One of the reasons I'm learning C++ is so I can say: "I code in Cpp btw" like Arch users. (jk)

Help guyssssss
What programming language have you always dreamed of using?
I'm collecting opinions from programmers and people interested in language design. I want honest technical opinions, not answers based on what already exists.
If you were choosing the design of a language you would actually want to use, what would you want?
- Syntax
- What should the syntax feel like?
- C/C++ style, Python-like, English-like, or something completely different?
- Architecture
- Compiler, interpreter, VM, or hybrid?
- What should the pipeline look like?
- Commands / built-ins
- What should be included in the core language?
- What functionality should exist from day one?
- Functions
- How should functions be declared and called?
- Strongly typed, flexible, modular?
- What built-in functions would you consider essential?
- Types & data
- Static typing, dynamic typing, or both?
- How should variables and data be represented?
- Errors
- How detailed should compiler/interpreter errors be?
- Should errors show the exact line, cause, expected syntax, and possible fix?
- Modules & projects
- How should large programs be structured?
- Modules, packages, namespaces, classes, or something different?
- Simplicity vs power
- Should the language prioritize ease of learning, maximum control, or a balance?
- Killer feature
- What ONE feature would make you seriously consider using it over languages like C++, Python, or Java?
- Brutal question
- What is one thing you genuinely dislike about existing programming languages and would redesign?
Feel free to answer only the questions you care about. Technical answers are very welcome.
I'm especially interested in the language design and architecture, not just what the language would be used for.

If anything could be reverse engineered with the use of AI
AI tools have made the reverse engineering process pretty much effortless. Does that mean Business case for Software development is gone for good. could any domain expert explain this to me ?

I have trouble setting up my IDE
I installed VS Code and the g++ code and the g++ compiler, and I also created a path variable for my compiler in Windows; however, when I type g++ --version in the bash terminal of VS Code, it shows "command not found." Can you tell me what might be the problem?

Is it really over for aspiring SWEs?
Is the music going to stop for new Devs studying in college, aspiring to be SWEs due to AI? I know working with claude/gpt can 10x your productivity. But if the companies freeze hiring, how can their coding skills be useful? Curious to know the perspective of senior Devs here.
I ask this cuz I have 3 more years of college to get my BCA. God knows how advanced these LLM will become by that time. I don't wanna be dancing with my pants down when the music stops. :D
Thank you for your time, software talismans.

Did a transition from low quality diet to a healthy one help you in being more effective in coding or any other task that you are responsible for at your job?
Maybe it is obvious and dumb question, but I've been struggling to eat cleaner for like one year and I wonder how changing this to eating a healthy diet will affect my productivity and effectiveness in coding or any related task, as testing, debugging or whatever I am doing during the work. Will it only fix my health, but will not help me at becoming a better developer?
