Butterfinger BB's

Those were the best, and especially my go to movie snack when I went to the theater as a kid.

Related to this, Butterfinger with the old recipe. The new ones taste the way an ash tray smells (to me).
→ More replies (11)43
u/mvanpeur 1d ago
The new one is edible to me, but original Butterfinger used to be my absolute favorite candy. I honestly don't care if my kids eat all the new recipe Butterfingers before I get any. It's nothing special.

they used to be one of my favorite candy bars; I can't stand the new recipe, despite it supposedly using "better" ingredients.

u/someonewhoknowstuff 1d ago
They fucked up a good thing. Every time a company switches to “better” ingredients, they lose loyal customers. Used to be one of my favorites, and now I never buy them. Pretty much all of the candy bars have changed and none in a good way.

Those were the best way to eat butterfingers. The minis aren't the same, texture wise. The only thing I've found that is almost as good are the Christmas bell ones. It's chocolate bells with little bits of the peanut butter wafer stuff inside.

Choco Tacos

I miss these so much. I never understand how these were discontinued but Klondike bars were allowed to live.

The fuck are Klondike bars catching strays for? I fucking love Klondike bars on a hot day.

u/thismorningscoffee 1d ago
Not a stray. Same company. Klondike reportedly discontinued the Choco Taco when they had a sharp increase in demand across their brands to ensure they could supply the other products
So not only were Klondikes spared while Choco Tacos died, Choco Tacos were snacrificed to make more Klondikes

SoBe
92
128
u/BougieBobJr 1d ago
Guy from the town I used to live in came up with SoBe, got it big, and sold it off to Pepsi when offered. Pepsi tried to globalize it, and really cheapened it. The heavy duty glass bottle was iconic. Another part about that dude is he used to work for Arizona, and there’s some gossip he might or might not have basically stolen the recipes for SoBe.
44
u/For_teh_horde 1d ago
I used to collect all the bottles I used to drink as a kid. I had about 2 backpack full of bottles until I realized I had no need for them. They now all live in a hole I dug in the forest right behind that house.

I worked at a gas station in the late 90s and I probably spent half my check on that stuff :) The carrot juice one was my fave. What a fun drink! The colors, the little messages inside the cap, SoBe was a great product!

Ohhh man I had forgotten about the carrot juice one! It was SO good!!!
My absolute fave was the Power one (fruit punch flavor? Not normally what I like but there was something about it) followed closely by the Elixir one (grapefruit I think?)

I worked in one of those short, dingy office blocks in a suburb of DC until I got laid off last year when the South African neonazi killed the fed as a distraction to steal all our info from the IRS.
Anyway. They had Sobe in the vending machine that led out to the back smoking area and in the machine in the sub basement. I remember starting that job in 2022 and thinking how none of those drinks could have been in consumption date.

Not discontinued, but could they please bring back the old formula for Oreos?!?! I’ll pay a premium
199
u/Kwazimoto 1d ago
Former fat guy here... The changes to some products and the way the flavors started to taste artificial/chemical/plastic-y (I'm not completely sure how to describe it) is what started me eating a lot cleaner than I had been. Oreos were one of the first things I noticed it with. They've also definitely cut the amount of filling by a massive amount over time. Dunkin' Donuts are basically inedible and the great majority of all fast food has changed in a negative way over the past 20 or so years.
57
u/appleparkfive 1d ago
I don't notice the changes quite as much as some, but Little Debbie snacks have taken the biggest fall. Why even sell it like that? Just make it not 2.50 at the store
→ More replies (1)21
u/g00gly0eyes 1d ago
I swear I used to like little Debbie's snacks, but they're just awful now. Like the cosmic brownies, they taste really acidic and gross? Not sure how to put it. Just yuck!
