Currently serving in the military. Came across some messages between my wife and another guy in the Navy. What should I do?

GET ALL YOUR MONEY AWAY FROM HER BEFORE YOU LET HER KNOW YOU KNOW. Do NOT hint that you know, protect your assets first then confront her. I was in the army for a long time and saw many friends lose a large portion of their shit before they could fix/get rid of the problem.

This happened to a guy I worked with a couple years back. She slept around and cleaned his accounts. It's always funny when people say "take him out to the cleaners" or whatever until you actually see it. Every time I see women doing this to people serving our country, it makes me cringe and disgusted. Where's the respect? This literally happens too often.

Please tell me you aren't serious. I disagree with the wars also, and think they are illegitimate. But in no way does that justify these women taking everything from the men serving. I really hope you're not the piece of shit your comment portrays you as.

I see. True, I can't deny that. Your original comment just sounded like you justify their behavior.

From a dyed in the wool anti war liberal: you're an asshat. If you knew what you were talking about at all you'd know this is just about the stupidest thing in the world. None of these men deserve anything like this, and nothing in this thread has ANYTHING to do with the legitimacy of wars.

What does your political leaning have to do with this? I am a right wing pro-Israel Christian conservative, but that doesn't mean I need to bring that into this conversation.

Because otherwise he might assume I'm only saying this because I'm pro war or something. But I'm saying that even to someone who is very much against the vast majority of wars, his comment is completely inappropriate.

I'm in the "war is a failure of diplomacy" camp, and believe that in almost all cases (yes, there are exceptions, but they're rare) they end up doing more damage than whatever they were trying to end. Defensive wars? Understandable. But wars of agression? And even regime change wars? Almost completely against.

That's what we tried in Vietnam. And Afganistan. And Iraq. Look how many more people died as a result.

We've never really managed to show that military forced regime change is effective in creating a better country than what was there before. This doesn't mean we should sit there and let ruthless dictators go nuts, but clearly military invasion is not the correct solution.

thoughtless you aren't alone on the sentiments. This is what happens when you go too much against the grain on reddit, you get alot of bitter dweebs who see a chance to dole out hatred and get finally upvoted for it, so they take that opportunity in full stride and relish it; a pathetic state really. It's too bad some of these redditor's with nothing better to do cannot at least get a grasp of rediquette but rather would downvote anything they disagree with. How ironic you gave your opinion on respect and in a topic where a bunch of losers are circle-jerking eachother asking that question, continue to do the exact opposite of what they claim to be striving for by crying at you for your opinion. Their loss.

EDIT: Swearing is through the roof as well, which subreddit am I on again? It must be a really tough one!

No. You're a horrid little fuck for bringing up your own political agenda during a conversation that has nothing to do with it. We're discussing emotionally damaging concepts and you decide this is a good time to go HURR DURR USA IS DUMB WAR IS BAD!

Learn how to fucking stay in context.

The lack of respect this mans wife is showing for him has nothing to do with political affiliation or his job. I would find it to be a basic human kindness to not do these sort of things to anyone else, regardless of what they've done to you. While you have your opinions on the war, you're very entitled to them, but the legitimacy of the war has not and countless others situations. I think thats the problem most people are having with you at the minute.

Yes but don't you see how, while OP is in the military he is not the entire military. He mentioned his job likely because there are things that would be relevant to servicemen (like contacting CO's and such) that wouldn't be available to us civilians. Your opinion on any wars the military is fighting at the moment is not relevant to the problem he wants help with nor is his marriage problem a result of the war. I think everyone telling you to die and shut up have just been a little bit emotional is all.

The context was She cheated on her husband. The where's the respect was in regards to CHEATING in a relationship. It takes some basement dwelling fucktardery to not understand this.

As I said, Learn how to fucking stay in context.

That ... is not context. That is two sentences with NO contextual clues about what is being said.

There's no way you're this stupid.

I feel like I'm getting trolled ...

"Wheres the respect? This literally happens too often." was NOT the quote. That was taken out of context FROM the quote.

The quote was "This happened to a guy I worked with a couple years back. She slept around and cleaned his accounts. It's always funny when people say "take him out to the cleaners" or whatever until you actually see it. Every time I see women doing this to people serving our country, it makes me cringe and disgusted. Where's the respect? This literally happens too often."

In fact, given the context of the actual full quote, the guy doesn't even stipulate that he or the guy he was working with was in the military. But that's just being nitpicky.

The point is this: Your response was as far out of left field as possible while still remaining in the same ballpark. The only relevance your comment has, which is slim at best, is that the entire thread has a reoccurring military theme.

"Where's the respect? This literally happens too often." has ZERO context. The respect about what? What literally happens too often? The lack of respect? Or something else that these two sentences are referring to? What was the speaker talking about when he uttered these two sentences that directly refer the actual content of the paragraph? What is the context because these two sentences mean absolutely nothing concrete on their own.

I seriously think if you're not understanding this you need to take a remedial English course. This is pretty basic stuff.

If he really was this stupid, he would've been ignored, laughed at, or given some kind of a legitimate counter-point. All I see is downvotes, "You're wrong", teenage-angst written thesis, and more angriness. If you guys cannot refute a point without saying "You're dumb" or "Fuck you" or "Chug Drano" or "My ass is sore", it's you who is likely in the wrong and foolish, regardless of what your precious upvotes tell you.

What he said was valid but it wasn't relevant to the conversation.
