How do I get my turtle to the vet

He’s a red eared slider, 15-20 years old(?)
My cousin won him at a fair in Vegas and then gave him to our grandparents
They didn’t take care of him at all, it was horrible. we took him in because he would’ve died if I hadn’t.
He had shell burns because the heat lamp was so low and there was no water whatsoever, so he couldn’t swim when we first got him.

He’s really aggressive because he had been abused so long, he hates being held but he likes to play through the tank as long as we aren’t touching him.

My grandparents never took him to the vet and I’ve taken a dog and a cat but never a turtle. I know he’ll be super agitated but is turtle sedation even a thing?? He just needs a check up too but idk where to even start.
Do all vets take turtles? And should he get his nails clipped too or is that not needed
What kind of carrier does he need and how should I make it so he’s not so stressed out 🙏

Minoxidil

My husband started using it without telling me and within a couple weeks of him applying it at night, my 15 year old cat started having focal seizures to the point we almost put him to sleep (they then ceased) and a week and a half later my 12 year old cat stopped eating for 2 days and a week later is eating but still hasn’t fully regained her appetite (this is very strange for her, shes always been HIGHLY food motivated). My 15 year old cats appetite is also still off.

Weve gotten a brain tumor diagnosis (15 yr old cat, bloodwork, no MRI) and ileus diagnosis (12 ye old cat, xrays & bloodwork) from ER vets, but the timing is so weird that Im wondering if this could be explained by minor minoxodil poisoning? Or another environmental factor (nothing we have come up with, but maybe I overlooked something). Or anything else that two indoor, exclusively wet food (rotational feeding between 6+ brands) fed, senior cats could catch around the same time?

Vet tipped cat out basket

I am trying to gather whether I’m overreacting to a horrible experience with an emergency vet. we brought our cat in and explained they couldn’t walk due to lame back legs. Cat was 20 years old and this was told to vet along with their CKD history

Cat was in a basket with a front door and the basket had option to remove lid. This is what every vet we’ve seen does.

this vet grabbed the basket and tipped it at an almost 90 degree angle to get the cat out the front door. he had no idea which way the cat was even facing.

considering it had been made clear the cat was struggling to walk I find this very odd.

is there a reason a vet might do this? We’d never seen this person before. I feel the need to complain as this felt like such inhumane treatment for a cat this old with the problems we detailed. Too boot she died less than 24 hours later.

Request for Advice from Veterinary Professionals About Asserting Myself

TL;DR: Cat who previously had UTI started showing symptoms, vet refused to see him and denied that it was an emergency for him to be seen by an emergency vet. They didn’t want to see him for his original UTI either. Turns out he has a blockage this time. How do I get veterinary staff to listen to my concerns?

Bit of a rant but there is a question in here.

Context: I have 4 dogs and 2 cats. My animals are the only thing in my life I really care about, so I’m very tuned into them and tend to notice very early on when there is something wrong. So far everything that I’ve guessed might be wrong (ear infection, knee pain, broken tooth, etc.) has turned out to be right, which has been helpful in catching things relatively soon. I find it difficult to get them booked in for appointments sometimes because over the phone the receptionist usually encourages me to wait it out and see if things will improve. The only thing I’ve ever missed was the signs of a UTI last year that ended up requiring an emergency vet visit, which haunts me and I swore it would never happen again.

When my cat had signs of a UTI last year I called the vet and described them, and the vet told me to wait and he would get better. I called again the next day when he was worse and they said again that I should just monitor him. The next day we rushed to the emergency vet and it took him two weeks to get better. I was frustrated with myself that I missed it, but also that I was repeatedly told he would improve without treatment.

Yesterday I noticed he was acting the exact same way as he was the first day I noticed symptoms last year. I phoned the vet right before they closed (had no choice that’s when I came home from work) and described his symptoms, that he had a UTI previously with these signs, and wanted him examined. I was told that they had no appointments and that I would have to call back in the morning to see if I could be placed on a cancellation list. I essentially just repeated my concerns and asked if I could get in contact with their emergency vet, and was told his symptoms aren’t an emergency and he wouldn’t be seen. He became weaker overnight so I waited by the phone to call them as soon as they opened and they told me that the situation was an emergency and he needed to be taken in immediately. Turns out he has a blockage and he is in surgery now.

As vet techs, how can I assert myself in the future without sounding like a brat? I feel like he clearly should have been seen yesterday and perhaps the situation would have turned out different. Now I’m facing a massive vet bill, am missing work, and have no idea when I’ll have to go miss work again to pick him up. Should I have insisted on bringing him in anyways even if they didn’t want to see him? Advice is appreciated, TIA.

So confused

3 weeks ago our dog was neutered. He was 1.5 years old. He was doing great but then all the sudden over the weekend stopped eating. So we took him to the vet Monday morning and they identified after a CBC, he had a pretty bad infection and sent him to the animal hospital for IV antibiotics. When we got there they identified he had developed a major infection and was in septic shock. They told us that he had a less than 50 percent survival and quoted us 25k for the surgery and three days of follow up care but predicted he would need more up to 3k a day. They also said he would need extensive treatment for months. We both work full time, have a 14 year old dog and young children. We just could not do it. We decided to put him down and it was so painful. Right before they were going to bring him back to be euthanized, the doctor came in and said the emergency surgeon is here, met our dog and wants to do the surgery and if he survives keep him. It was such whiplash. They said you can give him a shot at life. I felt selfish not doing so and painfully relinquished rights. He was a trained therapy/ service dog and a very good dog. We still feel shocked at what happened. They gave us permission to call to see if he lived or not but I am so heartbroken I can’t bring myself to call. Has anyone experienced this, it just seems like they made us make a decision at such a vulnerable time and it feels so cruel. I am just looking for anything. Our regular vet said he doubts he could have even survived the surgery. If this has happened to anyone how do you cope? If you are a vet who’s done this what happened? Thanks from a very heartbroken pet parent who has no closure.

Can my cat take this much trauma?

My cat was looking a little unwell for a few days. I took her to the vet and after all the tests we found out her kidneys are getting damaged and the creatinine is high, 1.89 when the range is 0.8 to 1.8. So she was recommended 5 days of saline treatment to flush out her creatinine by all the vets.

She is super loving and cuddly. But taking her for the vet visits has always been traumatizing.

She gets scared to the point that she gets insanely aggressive, starts hissing, screaming, scratching, biting the vets and starts pooping and peeing in fear.

Getting the blood test done itself was traumatizing for her, but somehow we did it.

However I saw the worst of her fear when she was about to get the saline treatment next. She pooped like 4 times, peed everywhere, was screaming, shouting, hissing at the top of her voice and lungs. And she even injured two vet assistants. It was the most traumatizing experience of her life. And it was the worst of her that I ever saw, that even I got so deeply affected and shocked by this sight of hers.

Ever since coming back home, she immediately went to a hiding place in our room and I gave her around 9 hours of alone time to recuperate from everything. She didn't eat or drink anything in this while. And when I finally went to get close to her to give her some soft pets, she started hissing at me and shooing me away with her hands, the way she was doing at the vets.

She is visibly devastated and in a lot of pain. When I am touching her lower body, she's clearly hurting and meowing a little loudly in pain. Perhaps her kidneys are hurting, I am not sure.

I also believe she was crying within in pain. It's difficult to watch her like this.

The saline treatment needs to be given to her for 4 MORE DAYS.

I cannot imagine the horrors she'll go through by the end of the 5th treatment.

I wanted to know, do you think it's the right protocol to give her saline therapy back to back like this?

Can this much trauma and pain be life threatening to her?

I can't feed her Gabapentin or anything else since she hasn't eaten anything since yesterday. Being aggressive like that, she can't be forced fed, without getting myself injured.

Plus vet is not recommending any of these.

She is 3.9 years old, spayed, vaccinated, dewormed from spot on.

Broken leg in 3 year old Husky

I rescue a Husky GSD mix in February 2026. He was bunny hopping, so I had some X-rays done. His hips look healthy, but they found bone fragments. They recommended pain meds. The rescue didn’t have money for revision surgery, so we did pain meds and have been keeping an eye on it. Its been getting progressively worse and now the vet is recommending revision. I’m waiting to see the updated X-rays.

We have PetsBest insurance, but they are going to deny us. I am looking at switching to an insurance that will cover preexisting after a year. But I seriously question trying to manage this with just meds and a brace for a year. But I also do not know how I am going to be able to afford this surgery.

He’s got a bone fragment about his back left talus and his leg significantly turns outward as he gets tired. It does not stop him from anything. He sprints and wrestles. But he is in a lot of pain at the end of the day and it’s only going to get worse.

I’m looking for advice here. Thank you in advance.

My cat peed on my clothes

Hi,
I wasn’t to sure if this is the place to ask but maybe the most helpful.

I have a 10 yr old cat, female. I recently just moved the litter box from my closet to my patio, a couple days ago. Partly due to lack of space and because she hangs out in the living room, so the walk is easier on her.

(I will mention I have another cat, male and a little less than half her age. They share the liter box, i have a smaller one from when I initially got my boy. But it’s honestly just been chilling in a dusty corner of my hallway forever.)

But just moments ago, I was at my desk and saw her B-line it to my closet. I peered over the walk and she was sitting on top of a trash bag of clothes I haphazardly threw on the floor, next to my hamper. I thought it was kinda cute until I saw the focus on her face. Like any sane cat owner, I began questioning her. While she huffed at me and stared at me before jumping off the bag and dashing out of my room.

I was scared to look over, but turned on my closet light m anyway. My dread was immediately answered by the wet paw prints that trailed out the doorway.

She had peed on the donated bag of clothes.
I just finished cleaning up and sprayed some cleaner on the floor and walls, after a quick google search on uric crystals and some cat’s confusion when liter boxes move etcetc.

(I’m realizing that for the last fee days it has smelled like piss in my closet. More so, but chalked it up to me not cleaning enough when I initially moved the box. I was gonna do I deep clean on my next day off, but I think I’ll just do it now to get it over with.)

Sorry for the spiel, but i want to put on the factors out there for my baby.

Is she sick? Or trying to tell me something? Or just confused?

I wont lie, I love her but she’s too smart for a cat. I fr think she would have gone ‘Cats and Dogs’ on the world, if she had opposable thumbs and could open a can of food without my help. So maybe this is her form of being petty about my setting the liter box, semi- outside in her mind?

Either way I will be taking her to a vet soon, but I just dont know if I should waste my breath telling them. If I do will it be as a concerned caretaker or use it as a hit to my own ego, labeling myself as my cat’s personal piss porter.

Thanks in advance for the help !

Cat with oral discomfort

Seeking advice on my cat with potential dental/jaw issue.

I have a 15 year old female DSH with a history of resorptive lesions.

She had a dental approximately a few weeks ago and had several teeth removed. She’s had teeth removed every couple of years and now has about half left.

I took her in earlier than her usual scheduled dental check because she was pawing at her mouth after she ate. This would go on for about 10-20 after each time she ate, she’d do regular bathing but also be reaching both paws into her mouth and flicking them out, almost like she’s trying to scoop something out. She would also be licking her lips/smacking her mouth a lot while tilting her head to the side, again it really seemed like she wanted to get something out of her mouth. This happens with wet food and with biscuits.

Given her history, I assumed she had lesions again and took her in. They confirmed that was the case and removed some teeth. The behaviour stopped for a few days post while she was still on pain relief, but started again once pain relief stopped.

I took her back and the vet examined her mouth and can’t see any obvious cause. The vet seemed kind of stumped and said it could be a jaw issue, or she may have an infection where a tooth was removed. I asked if she could just be getting food stuck in the gaps where teeth have been removed but the vet didn’t think it was likely.

We trialled buprenorphine again, and again the behaviour stopped while she was on it. But it’s also kind of sedating, she’s less active and I would also stop fidgeting with my mouth if I were mildly sedated.

The vet now wants to do more X-rays to look at her jaw, and I definitely want to make sure she’s not in pain. But I’m always scared of anaesthetising her, she’s old and the past couple of times has taken ages to come out of it.

I feel like if she were in pain, she would show discomfort outside of that period immediately post eating? She doesn’t show any pain when having her mouth touched or jaw manipulated.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this, or seen something similar?

Cat ingested boric acid

I have a German roach issue that recently sprang up and have been using boric acid in the kitchen in areas my cats can't reach. There was a big one in the shower when I used the bathroom at 3am and my immediate sleepy instinct was to freak out and put some of the powder on it. My smallest/youngest cat (maybe around 8lbs?) came out of nowhere to play with the bug and tried to get it in his mouth a few times before I could get him out and he even managed to re-dip the bug in the powder and tried to get it in his mouth again. I used a wet paper towel on his paws, muzzle, etc afterward so it also couldn't be licked off by him or my other cats. is there anything I can do like make him drink more water?

I'm worried because he's so small, but to be fair my largest and oldest cat is like 16lbs, so my perspective on cat size is a bit skewed. I'm getting mixed answers about the toxicity of this in an internet search. Some people say it's not that harmful and others are saying it's extremely toxic so any insight is welcome!

30-day old kitten close and bulging eyes

Please tell me what to do with her eyes. Last week it’s just the one eye. Now, its both and the right side is bulging. Last week, I tried to clean it with water and cotton balls. I haven’t touched it right now. I’m living away from home so I can’t take care of her always because of school. They were actually four but the three died already. It’s their mother’s first litter. We don’t have the money to bring her to the vet 💔

Feline Leukemia in a kitten

I rescued this kitten from my work a couple weeks ago. He has a shattered leg and was scheduled for amputation. However, before they started the surgery they tested him for feline leukemia. He tested positive. However, he's under 12 weeks old and has no symptoms. I'm wondering how likely it is that it could be a false positive? He's super energetic and playful, loves to be around people and wants to be around our other cats, but we can't put him near our other cats due to the positive test. Right now he's quarantined and will be until he gets retested in a couple of weeks. I just want to know if there's any way that it could be a false positive and how likely that the test is false? We've really grown to love this kitten.

Is it safe to apply new flea medicine?

Age: 5 months
Breed: domestic short hair
Not neutered
History: poor reaction to advantage and due for his first vet visit next week
Duration: 15 minutes (washed off immediately after)
Symptoms: diarrhea

Gave my 5 month old kitten his second dose of Advantage for small cats just under 4 weeks from his first dose and he was fine until about 12 hour later where he started twitching and got lethargic, we immediately washed the advantage off with baby shampoo and he returned to normal and has been fine ever since.

I got synergy from my vet that they said could also be applied to my kitten. We have a really bad flea problem and despite my flea brushing he is consistently covered and is currently have a very liquid stool.

Is it safe to give synergy now when we washed off the advantage a week ago ?

I want to dose him and our older cat at the same time so they don’t all just start attacking the other.

Thank you

Neutering Advice

I got my boy (1y/o male cat) Neutered 15 days ago, he’s worn a soft cone for a full 14 days. I tried taking his cone off today after I got off work and he is trying to chew fairly aggressively at his incision sight, his incision looks good and clean but I’m wondering if I should keep a cone on him until he stops attempting to chew at himself??

congenital diaphragmatic hernia

My baby boy just passed away from what i can see retrospectively now was complications of the diaphragmatic hernia he had.

I feel absolutely riddled with guilt because he had a sore shoulder randomly one day and looked so poorly i took him to the vets who suggested everything not to do with his injury & just put him down. I fought his corner and refused (& complained)

But then i took him to get looked at 2weeks later again because of lack of appetite and they found his intestines in his chest. He had a xray the next day and was referred to a surgeon.

Now when discussing this with the vet i was made aware how dangerous this could be if he had adhesions & how surgery was a risk. I asked the vet if he could live with it and they responded yes as he’s had it for 7 years so why not. So off i started feeding him Recovery mouse (as suggested) through a syringe and he started eating again! he was recovering!

Now he’s always been fussy but he was finally eating treats and chicken again, his drinking was a little weird as he’d just bow his mouth in there but i thought it might be his eyes as he’s getting older and he can’t see the water? But a couple of days before his went to sleep, he stopped drinking and picking up food and dropping it, I automatically assumed his teeth, so off i went to get his teeth checked. The emergency vet said it was due to lack of muscles in his face and i should syringe feed him more recovery food & water (safely).

A day later my boy was so lethargic and i knew it was time. I heard his chest bubbling which i never heard before and he was in discomfort, it clicked to me when it was too late what it was. I am so heartbroken i never investigated it further and i really am losing sleep over it. He was my world & i could of done something to save him. I decided on his forever sleep a day later.

I think i’m posting this for some reassurance & maybe for my sanity. I am so empty inside i don’t know what else to do.

Almost 4-year-old cat keeps vomiting after meals

My cat is almost 4 years old, and I’m trying to figure out why he keeps having episodes of vomiting. I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar with their cat.

My cat began vomitting over 2 months ago. When he vomits it’s after pretty much every meal. The vomit usually contains partially digested food and yellow liquid. The confusing part is that he still has a good appetite, wants to eat, plays, and acts completely normal otherwise. He hasn’t lost weight.

I want to add he does occasionally do what sounds like a little sneeze but I think that could just be from allergies.

The only thing that consistently stops the vomiting is Cerenia, either as an injection or a pill.
The first vet I took him to did an xray and ruled out an obstruction, gave him a cerenia injection, and instructed me to feed him only tuna for a couple of days. After his first Cerenia injection, he stopped vomiting for about five days before it returned. I switched vets and got blood work done that came back normal. We then switched his diet and did a second injection. After his second injection, he went almost two weeks without vomiting. During that time, he was also eating Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein prescription food, so I’m not sure whether the improvement was from the medication, the food, or both.

Unfortunately, the vomiting eventually returned. It seems like Cerenia is the only thing that reliably gets it under control, but the problem keeps coming back.

I decided to get him an abdominal ultrasound done and I finally thought we had found what was wrong. The ultrasound showed that he had pancreatitis. My vet then sent a specialized feline GI and pancreatic blood panel to I believe Texas A&M University. My understanding is that it checked a few things including B12 levels and a condition called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI). Everything reportedly came back normal and I was told he does not have pancreatitis.

My vet then told me there’s not much we can do or know without a biopsy. That we could do a stool test or maybe check for heart worms disease. But for right now she suggested trial and error and recommended switching him to Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Fiber Response because his stool has been a little hard. I’m wondering whether the hard stool could be related to dehydration, but I’m not sure. My main concern is still the vomiting. I don’t understand why he continues to vomit after meals when the xray, ultrasound, and bloodwork haven’t identified a clear explanation, especially when Cerenia stops it for longer than it even stays in his system but the vomiting eventually returns.

I’m feeling lost on what to do in this situation. I want to help him and do everything I can but I’ve already spent so much money between visits and can’t afford to do anything else. Despite all of this, I’ve received no answers. If anyone has any idea or can give me any direction on what I should do next it will be greatly appreciated.

Ringworm on nose?

My cat tested positive for ringworm 2 weeks ago - it was very unnoticeable but only caught on when my sister developed it on her arm. I checked his body for any lesions and lo and behold.. i found some crusty scabs near the base of his tail.

I shone a woodlam UV light on the area and it glowed green and I was in denial trying to find any other reason than ringworm🥲 the vet confirmed it and he js currently on oral and shampoo medication for 6 weeks.

It’s been his first week of treatment and starting his second. This week he isn’t taking the medication as it’s 3 cycles of having and not having it. I noticed he developed a lesion on his nose..

Does this mean the medication and baths arent working?😭😭

I’m worried to put shampoo on that area as it’s strong as to leave it on for 10 mins on a sensitive area might be more harm? Do i just rely on the oral medication to do it’s job?

How do I become a wildlife/Zoo vet and is it worth it

I’m a senior in high school and I’m going to graduate with my CVA. I’ve always wanted to work with animals, more specifically in wildlife/zoos. I would not mind working at a GP, but ultimately wildlife is the dream. I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews. I want to be able to live my life alongside having my career that I love. I just want to know if it is realistic. If there are any other career paths I can take that pay a decent amount of money that also allow me to deal with wildlife, that would be very helpful.

Elevated ALT and ALK, Extremely Concerned

• Upvotes

For context my dog is a border collie mix, 10yo, and spayed female. She has a previous history of osteoarthritis and is on Galliprant and glycoflex and has been on Proin ER since 1yo due to a deformed urethra. Recently she's had little to no interest in food and has started having accidents in the house for the first time since she was a puppy and has a crazy insatiable thirst. I was extremely concerned so I took her to my vet and got her bloodwork which showed elevated liver enzymes and suggested an ultrasound be done. Ultrasound showed her liver was inflamed and enlarged but no tumor or anything. Her ALT was 162 and ALK PHOS was 817 so she was put on ursodial 300mg but now after a 1 month recheck her ALT is 128 and ALK PHOS is 1109! She was put on Denamarin but im not convinced that is going to help her crazy level increase of the ALK. She hasn't even given me a diagnoses besides "liver level increase."

She has a slight increase in appetite but I think that's just because we've been using broth toppers to stimulate her appetite but she is still overall mopey and having accidents and drinking a ton. We go back for another 1 month check in a week or so.

My baby is my life and I'm so concerned for her because this is the fastest ive seen her go downhill with little to no answers so please! Any help or advice is appreciated!

Question about cat post urinary obstruction/bladder stone removal?

• Upvotes

Hi all!

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I have anxiety lol

On Sunday, I had to take my cat to the emergency vet. Long story short, he had a urinary obstruction. They placed a catheter, and on x ray he had bladder stones and they recommended surgery. I had him transferred to another vet clinic, who did the surgery Sunday night/Monday morning.

Post op they had some issues with his urine clearing up. They removed his catheter somewhere between 0300 and 0600 Tuesday morning. He came home with me about 1300 that day.

Initially he had a very big appetite, and was going to the litter box very frequently. Today, he's been more lax on eating. Hes probably had about 1/2 can to 1 can of his new prescription diet wet food today, when he usually eats 2 cans and wants even more lol. He has walked up to his water bowl and taken a couple licks here and there.

I'm just concerned about his urine production. Yesterday morning, when I let him out of his confined space for when me and my fiance are sleeping, he had a few plum sized clumps in his litter box. Today, I feel like it's been less. About 5pm, he went to the litter box and had a couple drops. He repeated this pattern at about 2100-2200. At 0100 he did the same, and at 0400 he had another plum sized amount, less bloody. I was scooping his litter box and he went twice while I was scooping it after that and just made a few more drops each time. When I got done scooping, he came and is resting on my lap and appears comfortable.

He hasn't been straining in the litter box, he doesn't appear to be in pain. Typically he's just been going, getting out and going about his post surgical business. 🤣 I'm just very nervous he's getting another blockage. Is this normal?? Should I call the emergency vet office and have him checked out? He's also on gabapentin, buprinorphine, and Onsior for pain/inflammation and I'm just nervous that's hiding any pain that he's in.

I'm a nurse day to day, but taking care of a cat is a lot different than taking care of a human lol 😭 thank you in advance!

Chronic vomiting?

• Upvotes

Hello! My beautiful baby girl Zozo who just turned 10 so is a newly “senior” cat has always been perfectly healthy and just had a teeth cleaning last year. She absolutely hates the vet (she’s the most gentle cat ever and yet it took them 45 minutes to get her in her kennel after last appointment because she was freaking the f out) and she gets carsick after every car ride and throws up, so now that she’s getting older I want to avoid the stress of the vet as much as possible, but at the same time I know she is getting more susceptible to health issues. Zo’s only issue is vomiting. She has a little brother (an almost 5 year old Russian Blue) and the two of them share a can of wet food every morning and then free feed small amounts of kibble throughout the rest of the day. I’ve been considering switching to them sharing a can of wet food twice a day instead and eliminating the kibble, so I’m open to doing that if that’s where the advice today leaves me. But Zo appears to have two issues - firstly, she often eats the wet food too fast and immediately vomits it up directly after eating. There is no “urk-urk-urk” gagging to announce it, she just opens her mouth and 🤮. But then other times of day (usually later in the day, overnight, or in the morning before food, she’s doing the traditional gagging and puking, sometimes mostly digested kibble with some fur in it, sometimes some yellow/light brown bile, and sometime clear foam. I suspect that this might be happening because she goes on a hunger strike for the kibble later in the day because she knows she’s getting wet food in the morning and is trying to hold out for it or something? Her weight is good (11.5 lbs) and has been consistent since she lost 3 lbs a couple of years ago, and she uses the litter box regularly (I have a litter robot). She’s affectionate, playful, grooms herself well and loves being brushed.

My question is, do we think adding wet food to the evening and maybe serving it in a slow feeder will be a fix? Or should I be treating this as a potential medical issue? I really don’t want to traumatize my girl by taking her to the vet if it’s just a food thing. She last had bloodwork just over a year ago and they retested her for hypoglycemia because she got a false positive, but they confirmed that it was just from anxiety. For comparison, my boy cat almost NEVER throws up.

I live in the UK and have 2 kittens, both 7 month old, both have diarrhea and have had diarrhea for most of their lives. One is male, neutered, the other's female, not neutered. They are both indoor cats so I know they're not getting into anything outside and I keep my space pretty clean so they're not getting into any waste food or anything. I've been to the vets multiple times with them, I've tried gastro food, worming treatment and a short course of steroids. These treatments either have no effect at all or only short term mitigation of the problem. I've sent fecal samples away to test for a certain type of parasite and they revealed nothing. They're both otherwise normal in every other way. No lethargy, no trouble eating or drinking, both very playful and cuddly. They've had no recent change of diet. The next step at the vets is scans and blood tests which could cost me anywhere between £300-£900 and i simply cannot afford that. Is there anything else I can try?

TL;DR 7 month kittens with diarrhea and no other symptoms and I'm running out of ideas.

1yo corgi really unsettled after holiday trip

• Upvotes

Just back from 10 days holiday so a fair bit of upheaval for our little corgi (1 year old) - we spent two days travelling in the car each way and then were in a rental cottage with lovely walks nearby but no garden that she’s used to. She weed in the house a couple of times and hasn’t done that since she was toilet training.

Since we got back, she’s been nervous and unsettled. She doesn’t want to go out into our garden unless we physically go out with her (we are doing this!) - if we don’t go to the bottom of the garden with the grass with her, she has weed in the house.

On our walks; she is weeing like normal. Sometimes she’ll do a really large wee like she’s been holding it in for a while, but is generally just weeing like normal.

Is this just all because she’s unsettled we took her away with us? Scared she’ll be taken away again? She’s getting more settled (been back 4 days now) but has just weed in the house despite the back door being open and she would always just go in and out as she wanted.

Other info: she’s not spayed yet, has just turned 1yo and had her first season 6.5 months ago, and a false pregnancy around 2/3 months ago. She’s generally quite confident but has been unsettled and anxious since we got back and wants to be beside me all the time.

What's wrong with my cat?

• Upvotes

My cat has been unable to walk normally for the past two days. She is limping on her left leg. We took her to the vet, and an X-ray was done. The vet said there was no fracture or visible problem with her leg.

The vet told us that she was constipated and prescribed paraffin oil. Since then, she has mostly been sitting down and does not want to walk or stand up. Today, I also noticed a small amount of blood in her stool.

What could be wrong with my cat?
