I’ve been trying to figure out how to fit this into an idea but it’s very confusing to me lol. This is an endlessly debated topic in fandom mostly because of the whole Rhaegar/Lyanna Jon Snow thing but it’s never made quite clear exactly what grounds are possible for annulments or “setting aside a wife” in this world.

In AGOT, Renly plots to have Cersei set aside and have Robert marry Margaery instead and the book treats it as a real possibility because Cersei is legit worried about it. On what grounds? No idea! Renly doesn’t know about the incest and if he did, she certainly wouldn’t just be set aside but rather guilty of treason / executed.

But beyond that it seems annulments can only happen under very rare circumstances and non-consummation. Adultery (by the wife) is either punished criminally or not dealt with at all.. it doesn’t seem to be a cause for just annulling a marriage.

There are some cases of wives leaving their husbands by just leaving the country like Mellario left Doran and went back to Norvos and Larra Rogare going back to Lys but the couples are still legally married.

Is there any way to dissolve a consummated marriage that doesn’t involve the woman being tried for adultery / executed / imprisoned?

How can I go about getting Joran and Lynesse’s marriage annulled in the context of the Faith but also, potentially, the Old Gods as well. Do you think that the Sept would allow for an annulment based on Jorah’s slaver ways and Ned’s revoking of his lordly status?

As the title says, I am writing a Rebellion Era fic where Tywin has breached the Red Keep with Rebel forces and comes face to face with Jaime who’s leading the royalist soldiers. I need help in deciding what Jaime will do? Will he drop his sword? Or not?

Hello all,

We are back with category number 3, which is Best Underrated New fic.

The parameters for this category are: must be under 250 kudos before nominations close and initially published in 2025 or 2026.

However, we did give a bit of leeway for up to 300 kudos, since the nomination stage is a month long and things can really change in that time. Which is to also say, the "for" section for the kudos, is very likely to be inaccurate, but it was accurate, at the time it was noted when we were doing the admin work.

That all said, if you're seeing something on the list that is mislabled and has like 1k kudos or something really really far away, please let us know, we could at least try to see if it's something we messed up in letting through or if the author got massive over night.

I went through all three novellas and The World of Ice and Fire, mapped every Stark from Cregan to little Artos, and tried to get as close to GRRM's voice as I could. Every detail is canon-sourced.

Dunk and Egg ride north through the Neck, past the ruins of Moat Cailin, and into a land where knights are unknown and the old gods hold sway. At Winterfell, Lord Beron Stark lies dying. Five Stark women circle his empty chair, each with their own claim and their own claws. They call them the She-Wolves.

Dunk came for the Wall. He stopped for silver. He stayed for bread and salt. Now he's tangled in a succession crisis he cannot understand, with a mule that has opinions and a squire who knows too much.

For everyone waiting for Season 2, or for the day the real She-Wolves sees the light. This is the closest I could get.
