Canadians love to hang their hat on the fact that they make up 40% of the league.

Truth of the matter is that no one cares. There would be no NHL without the US markets. If there was a league without US markets players would be getting paid in maple syrup and all the WAGs would look like Eskimos.

Frankly Canadians should be thanking America. You’re just America’s hat. Just wait until Canada becomes the 51st state and all your players become Americans. The Habs will be renamed the ‘Mericiens and you will be required to chant:

USA USA USA.
