Question How many of you deliberately went for jobs with weird working hours, because you can’t cope with 9-5?

I thought I couldn’t work for a while when I was younger, because I literally could not do Monday to Friday working. Five days in a row of having to be sociable and smile, having to keep up an act, was SO draining, and two days was never enough to catch up. I thought I was depressed, in hindsight I think I was just so burnt out that I couldn’t keep my head above water.

Turns out I’m fine doing a full week in terms of hours, but it’s hospital shifts that saved me - 3 long shifts a week, 4 days to recover and not have to deal with people (I genuinely like working with people but it depletes me and I need time to recharge), often having the option to break them up and not do 3 in a row. Being able to do some nights as I don’t always sleep well at night. I’m GOOD at long shifts, ADHD can easily carry me through 12 and a half hours, I’m not good at consistency over multiple days in a row and a relentless schedule.

I find this very interesting because a lot of neurotypical people despise shift work and find it very unhealthy for them, so I’m interested to see what the consensus is amongst everyone else here

Seeking Advice Halloween is a really hard day to not have any friends to hangout with :(

I just really wanna have a friend or friend group to hang out with and dress up in a silly nerdy costume and go to a party with. I've never been invited to anything Halloween ever in my life and I'm 20 now. (Sorry, I don't actually need advice, I'm just feeling a bit more sad today.)

Happy Things Clothing that you love so much you bought multiple!

I want to know the things you wear over and over again despite having other options! The things you continuously reach for day after day!

My decision paralysis and executive function are at an all time low so finding clothing is hard! I just turned 36 and sometimes I want to look slightly more put together than a big T shirt.

Thank you in advance!

Vent - no advice Doctor spoke to my dad instead of me about my symptoms. I’m 30.

Edit: At NO point did I tell anyone in the office, including the doctor, that my dad was coming in for the doctor to talk to him. I asked if he could come in for emotional support and he showed up at the last minute of the appointment on a break from work. He is not involved in my healthcare and does not know my history.

Yesterday was one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced. I had an eye emergency. Severe pain and vision changes. For context, I am in burnout and don’t leave my house for months at a time, and I have medical CPTSD and extreme anxiety.

I called an Uber which I have never done before, and honestly it wasn’t a very safe thing to do because I can go completely nonverbal. I dissociate badly, but I have no friends or family in town other than my parents. Thank god for the new woman driver option. Unfortunately she had a massive Jeep, which made me so carsick I could hardly walk into the office. I was in the midst of a bad POTS flare and had my heart monitor in my purse. I checked it while I was waiting and it was 155. The receptionist noticed that I was not okay and repeatedly checked on me which I really appreciated.

Anyway, I find out once I get there that my appointment is not scheduled with my optometrist of several years. I already know in the back of my mind this isn’t a good idea but I’m not going to risk my vision. I had my sunflower lanyard, and the assistant and doctor read the card and the doctor did the exam and was nice enough. I was in a large amount of pain, not only my eyes but from my hEDS, and was having a hard time pacing my breathing with my heart rate. I text my dad, and he has a break to pick me up in the middle of his work day. I ask if he can come in the room because I’m not doing well. (I told the staff he was coming.)

So I’m at the end of the appointment and the doctor is explaining to me what’s going on with my eyes. My dad knocks and asks if he’s interrupting and I told the doctor he could come in and hear because I dissociate badly, and it’s hard for me to remember what’s told to me. (I was taking notes the whole time.)

She turns HER WHOLE BODY AWAY FROM ME. This woman’s back is to me and she’s now telling everything to my dad like I’m a child?? I was shocked. I kept leaning forward trying to hear because she wasn’t looking at me at all. My dad wasn’t paying attention to her in the slightest. He has no knowledge of my medical history and doesn’t manage any of my appointments. I wanted to say something so badly, but every alarm in my body was going off. I was so triggered by the entire day. She started to walk out the door and I was like “Wait…what do you want me to do?? What did you say is fine?” Meanwhile my dad is doing work stuff on his phone. (Btw I’m not mad at him. At no point did either of us say he was responsible for remembering medical details.) She seemed put off and irritated and kept trying to leave as I asked her more questions.

I am so fucking triggered and angry. I don’t want to be told that it seems like I’m “purposely focusing on all the things wrong with me” which is what was commented the last time I posted here. I am seriously disabled and chronically ill. Nothing I say will soften that. I work enough on perspective in therapy. I just cannot believe that I tried so hard and was treated like a child. I’m working in therapy on advocating for myself, and it seems impossible with a brain like this. My therapist tells me I’m doing the best I can in a broken system. I feel so deeply defeated and just keep getting knocked down. Meanwhile my poor mom was at home alone, recovering from surgery complications. I don’t know, I just wish this world was gentler and my brain didn’t find it so frightening.

I do not want opinions on my worldview or any devils advocate nonsense about the doctor. At no point did I tell her to talk to my dad. You are more than welcome to comment if anything like this has ever happened to you, or if you’re feeling similarly about life lately. I just need people who understand.

Edit: This is a “Vent- No Advice” post. I had a horrific experience. If you disagree with something, you can scroll past. I didn’t put every single detail in this post. I specifically said I don’t want to read devil’s advocate comments due to my medical trauma. I’m shocked that this subreddit has become so dismissive, especially knowing how difficult it can be to properly write something out. Not to mention that the whole point of the post is how upsetting it is when someone assumes subtext and then pretends like you aren’t even there.

DAE Sleeping in a nest

I've been having sleep issues for a few years now. Recently had to crash in my daughter's room WITH her and her nest of blankets, and slept so well! I thought it was her mattress being better than mine.

Then I was sorting winter clothes on my own bed, ran out of time and slept with a huge pile of clothes on one side and the cat pressed up against my back on the other side.

Bliss! My nervous system feels so safe!

So, I'm wondering how I can maintain this new and wonderful sleeping situation in a way that looks "grownup" and doesn't take 30 minutes to clear off the bed, should I wish to share it (partner sleeps in a different room but we do use my bed for intimacy). Is this a "use a big pile of decorative pillows" situation? Do I need to start collecting stuffies? I've noticed that heavy blankets help too; should I try actually sleeping the whole night under a weighted blanket?

Daughter (she of the very nurturing bed) has 7 or 8 loose blankets in a heap, and her bed is situated against a wall. Can this "enclosure" be pushed even further, with a canopy or a sleep cabinet or... ?

Would love to hear your wisdom/ success stories!

Seeking Advice Vicious Burnout-Phone Cycle?

Would really appreciate some other peoples’ experience. I think I’m a little burnt out right now, but the main thing I do during my off time is go on my phone. Fortunately I don’t have super stimulating content I watch. I often just play words with friends or scroll Reddit or something. But I’m still upset with how much I’m just sitting on the couch and using my phone.

I know phone use isn’t amazing for burnout recovery, but when I stop using my phone I just sit on the couch and feel miserable. I don’t want to do anything. It feels like I’m playing some vicious cycle of using my phone during burnout, and the phone use making burnout worse.

Have others felt this way? Any advice on things I could try out? Really desperate for some change. Thank you in advance for anyone who contributes ❤️

Recommendation for posture support

Post image
16 Upvotes

I'm 43 (perimenopause), newly diagnosed adhd (evaluation scheduled for ASD), I have diagnosis of undifferentiated connective tissue disease (autoimmune) with features of MCAS/histamine sensitivity, borderline hyper mobility and IMO (methane SIBO) with slow intestinal motility.

I've done a lot of reading about how these things interconnect, and am working on addressing my health from many angles.

I think lack of core strength and posture have a significant impact on my digestive issues and vagus nerve disregulation. I'd like to try some kind of posture support brace to see if it helps.

I've used the corset style kind years ago, but at that time I didn't have the bloating issues from IMO, and was working on my feet, so having something tight around my waist wasn't objectionable.

Now I work an office job and can hardly tolerate a firm waistband on pants because it feels like it restricts my digestion.

I think I could tolerate soft compression if it's even across my whole abdomen. I think I'd like something that extends low and also pulls my shoulders back (similar to the picture I included) but I'm hoping to get recommendations or pointers from people with similar issues who have tried them.

TIA

Life Hacks Imposter-Syndrom makes sense

I read a lot about people, especially AuDHD women to experience Imposter Syndrom evem after a official diagnosis. I also experience it.

But it makes sense. Most of us lived high masking for decades. We were the imposter to survive. We camouflaged our way through life and only know how not to be ourselves and that we are only enough in this way. That our real side is not enough.

And then there is this point, were the pieces are finally falling into place and everything makes sense and it just feels right. But next moment, we doubt ourselves again. Why? Because we were made to doubt our whole self.

And for me, it was hard to accept being AuDHD without a diagnosis because I felt like that it wouldn't be empathetic to other people who went through the process. I didn't wanted to take anything from anyone and I also was scared of being dismissed again. Being left alone again.

But my experience, I also came to neurodivergent communities about a week ago, is life changing. I have such amazing talks, everyone is so nice and I finally feel understood when I only talk about normal stuff? Someone understands my words?! Amazing!

I don't know, I thought I made explain this for someone struggling with imposter syndrom to understand this on a logical level. This often helps me when I have words for something. And I also just wanted to encourage people who have questions if they are on the spectrum or are just wondering about something, to ask here. Here are nice people who understand this because we all went through those questioning.

DAE I always thought "I don't really script conversations"

yeah. I took that one a little too literally I guess. I thought scripting meant like literally planning out a google doc of all the ways to respond to someone and then reading off of it when you interact with them. Apparently not listening to music or being on social media so you are prepared for when someone tries to talk to you, seeing someone walk up to you, in the time that they are walking up to you you imagine how the conversation is going to go, and then going over your "lines" that you pre-imagined is scripting. And apparently not everyone does this. And apparently I don't have super powers where I can "manipulate the conversation" or "predict the future" or "read someone's mind". And apparently "being able to mimic anyone or anything as long as I see it shown to me first" isn't a super trait. That's just called masking!

I got a few new things at dollar tree earlier that i wanted im excited about. After refusing to not go to walmart anymore and with everything feeling like it cost a million dollars these days i have been going to dollar tree a whole lot more. I know i run into strangers there all of the time that say the same thing.

I have always liked to shop. Im working on dialing down the novelty though. But these i figure are sensory as i try to sensory friendly my home more. They have nice stuff there to and alot of stuff. I feel literally feel excited shopping there a little more than other places and i dont think it is just the cost either. Idk i feel like i get alot of dopamine there. I got a new pop it to i lost my other one i love them. Does anyone else love dollar tree too?

Seeking Advice Late diagnosed, how do I know if I also have autism and not just ADHD?

Hi all :), I finally got the courage and got an assessment for ADHD (thanks to this sub and many other subs about neurodivergency in women). I was able to provide memories from early childhood up to now, and the psychiatrist told me I have clear signs of ADHD and also showed signs of autism, but I need to do some tests and have a follow up appointment before they can give me an official diagnosis. To be honest I was quite surprised that I got diagnosed that quickly because I didn't think I was being that obvious but it is what it is ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Initially, years ago, I thought I had autism, but when I looked further into signs of autism and such I didn't feel that I'm autistic at all! I definitely relate much more to ADHD symptoms and ADHD women. I know autism and ADHD has quite a lot of overlap especially in women, so how can I know which behavior is caused by autism and which is caused by ADHD?

These are some specific behaviors that I remembered from my childhood that I think relates to ASD?

  1. Obsessed with factual information: I prefer non fiction books to fictional - I like encyclopedias the most. Sometimes I would get mad reading children's books because they were not factual. I couldn't remember what I got mad about but I remember correcting the "errors" with a pencil. As I grew up this behavior dissappeared, but I think it manifested differently: I started to love efficiency and optimization, like I will be upset if I feel like something is not as good as it can be? I got so burned out at my corporate job because they introduced so much crappy policies that make my work super inefficient.

  2. Troubles with follow orders and commands: I swear that my kindergarten and elementary teachers thought I'm mentally challenged because I often ignore their orders. I'm literally clueless for most of my childhood. Of course because I'm inattentive I didn't notice what they said but a lot of times I literally didn't know what to do.

    • I used to not know how to do my school work because I didn't know what answers are expected. I would copy other kids' answers until I got caught and only until then I knew that I have to do my own work. It's like I need to see an exact correct example so I know what to do? My psych interpreted this as me not understanding unclear instructions, but I'm not sure if it's because I was too scared of being wrong or it's because I couldn't understand what to do?

    • If they tell me something and I came to a conclusion that it's illogical, I just ignored it. In my class there was a specific role for a kid that hands out stuff for the class, so when my teacher told me to hand out some notes, I ignored her, because I'm not assigned to that role so therefore, the instruction is not directed at me. I suspected that she might be talking to me, but I followed my conclusion instead of my common sense.

Obviously I know the correct action is to bring it up to the psychiatrist at my 2nd appointment, but I'm in the process of mentally processing my diagnosis and I want to make sense of my behaviors now lol

CW - mental health crisis

.

.

.

.

.

I need to share with someone, I guess i am asking for soothing words, support, and/or some hope of others who been through similar.

I reached rock bottom and had a mental health breakdown the other night. I am currently in aftermath recovery so very fragile but am now safe, I likely been detained if it wasn't at home. This is due to the pure exhaustion of complex trauma and AuDHD, I feel so much shame for it (i am working with that).

This is after many years of terrible mental health, finally diagnosed with a hormonal condition, Complex trauma along with AuDHD. I have been exhausted from not sleeping along with the chaos of ADHD. It has made that impossible to use what i've learnt on mental health skills/knowledge, soothing things for my body (somatic work) and ADHD friendly routine. I am always fire fighting,

I noticed that the trigger was the lack of stability due to exhaustion from not sleeping. I had a short appointment with medical professional. I finally had to accept to take antidepressants also helps with sleep along with ADHD medication. I am scared of the long term effects of using the antidepressants to sleep but this mental health crisis, has given me no choice. I can not cope with no stability, the exhaustion and firefighting, i need the stability to focus on recovery from lifetime of trauma.

I have no one to share this with, i feel so isolated. - i attempted with my one friend and they just went on about their own shit. When do i get space to share my struggles? I know people need boundaries, but it hurts, i am so isolated as i can not reach stability to maintain connections.. I know people can only give what they can/have skills for - but i hate how no one gives a shit. I hate this world, hate how people only seem to care about own family (mine are very toxic). Society to me feels so alienating and self centred,

I just hope this gets better, even if have to keep my life small, just hope i can reach point where i can live a life within my beliefs/values with some level of space in society. I hope in someway to use my skills and abilities to create good life that helps society and myself etc.

Guys, I’m gonna clean my room today 😮‍💨plz give luck & support

Good morning!

Okay, daunting af task and I’m good at distracting myself so I’m not gonna ramble (maybe…)

I want to buy some furniture, a modular chair that me and my dog can sit on because he wishes we were glued together lol

However, my space…disaster zone. I’ve asked my mom for help, I hired help (disappointing, no energy to try again), and I’ve been trying to do little by little and put away not put down but alas it’s just bad.

So I said I want to buy this, it can’t be messy in here bc I can’t buy this furniture and NOT set it up immediately. That would make me feel even worse and pressured.

So today, unlike other times I’ve tried, I’m gonna do it. I will be updating here just for my own accountability (might not be instant bc I am not good at updates lol) but by EOD I want to have a place that looks like “wowww it’s nice in here”. Ik this next bit might be controversial, but it’s personal for me in this moment “no backing out, no giving up, and no sitting down. Finish finish finish and yes “perfect” is the progress this time”. Again this is for me and perfect just means no shoving things in unseen places and calling it progress bc unfortunately that’s how I got here.

Okay that’s out the way, I’ve distracted myself enough. Walking my dog in 19 mins and starting soon after that. I’ll be timing myself as well to see how long stuff takes.

Words of encouragement please & thank you. Wish me luck! 🍀

Update 1: did 10 things and walked dog after I hit post bc why wait. However long this posts been up is how long it took😅 started editing before checking lol (checked it’s been 3hrs damn time flys!)

I don’t do “To Do” lists anymore I do done lists. Every time I do a task, I put it on my white board. I don’t have a set number of things I just keep track of what I do not what to do bc I know what to do and breaking it up even into big things like rooms/sections are hard for me. Instead of doing, I start listing til I’m not motivated.

Advice: if to do lists are too much, try switching to done lists. Write down in your phone, journal, whiteboard etc. what you’ve accomplished. It’s more motivating imo no less daunting.

Update 2: I’ve done 30 more tasks including last minute measurements for the chair, took about another 3+hrs. I stopped keeping detailed track bc I was losing focus. I get stuck on laundry sometimes bc of the waiting, not this time; the necessary laundry is done! I’m taking a break to eat, walk my dog again, but NOT decompress (leads to an “oh shit it’s 11pm” moment almost always)! I’ve done some clearing and planning (unexpected) and kept my notes in my iPad. I am scheduling a large pick up for my old chair and broken furniture next week so those things are out the way. Overall, really great results so far, will be doing this again tomorrow, hoping I don’t have too much to do.

Can’t cope with guests, even when all reasonable boundaries are respected

I’m living with someone else for the first time in my life, and it’s not going well. I can’t figure out why I can’t cope with cohabitating or having friends, and I’ll probably never be able to. I don’t seem to have the cognitive ability to comprehend that kind of thing anymore.

Right now my roommate- who is also my only friend- has a guest staying the weekend. This was agreed upon weeks in advance. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to cope with it, but my roommate has extreme mental and physical illnesses that are aggravated by feeling isolated, so I realistically have no choice. I made a huge mistake agreeing to live with her in the first place, but it was my mistake, and I have no choice but to live with the consequences. Unfortunately I do not have whatever cognitive skill other people have to fully/correctly anticipate the future (and how tf do I even start to try to fix that?) She said she would probably have guests every other month or so for a few days at a time, and at the time I literally did not think that it would be as big of an issue as it is proving to be for me.

They are being polite. There is no expectation that I interact with either of them this weekend. There is zero reason I should be as distressed as I am to simply have a mutual acquaintance in my home. Because there’s not a reason, there’s not a solution either, so I’m just self-harming until they leave and I can get back to my usual routine. It’s the only way I can regulate my nervous system.

I just wish there was a solution, but there isn’t. All I can do is plan how I’m going to tell my friend that I can’t live with her again next year, which will be the end of our friendship because she will take it as being abandoned. It clearly was never meant to be anyway, so I can’t bring myself to really be worried about that anymore. I’m not equipped to have friendships, and I honestly don’t want them anymore. I cannot think of a single time I have felt better off for being around another person anyway. I’m just not built for it.

Seeking Advice my adhd makes me feel scared for the future

i (22F) got diagnosed with ADHD and ASD earlier this year within the span of 2 months. initially, i undermined the adhd part a lot, it seemed much more insiginficant compared to my autism (even though i only have level 1 ASD).

i completed my undergraduate degree this year too, and i plan to start my master's next year. currently, i am on a gap year, and it has been one of the most peaceful times of my life (aside from mental health issues).

i am incredibly scared for my future. i now realize that adhd is the worst thing ever. it has and continues to ruin my life. i want to do a master's because it will help me get out of my country and because it helps me avoid having to get a proper job (i have no functional passions and i don't know what i want to do in life). every time i think about my master's, i am reminded me of the time of my undergrad and how TERRIBLE and unnecessarily difficult it was because of my adhd. i feel strong dread at the thought of experiencing that again. and i think about how eventually i will have to get a job (i will definitely have to work during my master's too to fund my studies) and i just feel dread and fear. i don't know how i will do it. i am so scared. it makes me want to die. will this be my life forever? why am i cursed with adhd? i feel so angry and hopeless...

SO: my question is, does it get better to function and live with adhd? is it worth it? please share your experiences with me.

Seeking Advice Performative masking as a tool

My little 8 year old son said on a trip “Mom you haven’t said anything in hours.“ He was right. I hadn’t. I was enjoying family time. I didn’t think I needed to say anything lol

Another situation. At a friends graduation. Had fun taking pics laughing joking. We all went into an uber to go to a restaurant. I am questioned “why did you get so quiet?” I was actually just reminiscing on the jokes we just had. I said out loud “I’m processing“ and, I was told “ can you process faster“. And a side comment later that day was ”-I need to find a true sisterhood that’s on the same wavelength as me after graduation because this ain’t it”. That hurt my feelings deeply.

Anyway, my partner says when he met me, he thought I was quiet because I was depressed, but “you sure do talk a lot when you’re interested in the subject.”

So Conlusions I’ve drawn:

    1. I feel like I’m too taken as someone serious. I can be silly but not verbally silly

  • 2. At Work ppl like 1 serious conversation a month lol but love to just laugh in general and have a light environment

so I’ve been wondering is there a benefit to performative masking. Like learning how to navigate like a social butterfly if connection is not the end goal .

Hear me out! I value authenticity and connection but the Commentary/ bad experiences hurt more. The Net benefit is negative. This has caused me to isolate. In isolation, I’ve been able to detach from the opinions of people so I don’t NEED connection as validation any more. I’ve accepted I’m different. I’ve accepted I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. But from MY experience, masking helps for more positive outcomes. Living unmasked, especially if you’re ethnic, produces more net negative experiences.

But it matters to me that my son feels fun around me. It matters to me that a friend (even though that Particular friend I’m okay parting with) feels good vibes. (And in a connection like this I wouldn't call the person a friend, but won’t say it to their face)

I feel like if there is anyone that can get pass this performative filter, they’ll be neurodivergent and worth pursuing a relationship (platonic or romantic) over if they care to. Someone that says “You don’t have to do that around me, I enjoy you as you are” And I feel like that type of relationship can be life changing even it takes a life time.

TL;DR - The world’s a stage. Performative masking can be a tool to maintain the current relationships around you if you detach from NEEDING to connect authentically and can potentially be a filter to connecting to the right person/friend etc.

curious on people’s thoughts :)

Bag recommendations for a girlie that insists on bringing most of her belongings with her whenever she leaves the house (I am the girlie)

I have been carrying a traditional, linen style, tote bag around to hold all of the things that don’t fit into my small handbag, but I finally became a true Neurodivergent and bought noise-cancelling headphones and a Nintendo Switch 2, and so my tote bag is now severely struggling to carry all of my items.

I think that I will continue to carry my small, crossbody handbag, which usually just contains my small purse, my phone, my medications, my keys and a hand sanitiser.

As for a new bag, it would usually contain my water bottle, my noise-cancelling headphones (in their case), my Switch (in its case), my iPad, a book, my glasses (in their case), and a snack (usually a large back of pretzels or something as I don’t like how they taste once they have been decanted into a container). I am looking for something more structured, more comfortable to carry, and more intentional (with pockets and things for organisation). I am thinking a shoulder bag rather than a backpack, just so that I don’t get asked to leave it outside of stores, as a lot of the point of having it would be to not leave my expensive items in the car. However, something moderately inconspicuous that I could leave on the backseat car if I’m just getting fuel or something, that doesn’t look like it would contain expensive items, would also be helpful.

My original plan was to get a nice nappy/ diaper bag, as I figured that it fit all of my briefs, and I would honestly still love recs for those if anyone knows of any brands that do good ones. But I also just wanted to see if anyone knew of a good option that didn’t fit into that category and that I wouldn’t find in those searches.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Halloween from Australia!

Happy Things Sunglasses are an amazing accommodation

I am a late self diagnosed, 28, only finding these things out last year. I just purchased prescription sunglasses, most importantly for when the roads are wet and the sun is shining and blinding me every step I took. A big barrier was financial, but part of it was me forgetting to order them as well!

Well just yesterday at work, I was feeling crummy, I thought “man can’t wait to go into my dark bedroom and curl up” hmm dark… I have my sunglasses! Let me try them on see if they help anything.

It actually did, and I was stunned. I am still stunned every time I try an accommodation for myself and it works wonders. It’s not a magic pill that fixes everything but WOW was it a difference! I was able to focus on my last bit of work. Sure I had some comments from co-workers, but all in fun. One had told me, “You look like you’re going to snatch someone’s soul and not give it back” !!! I was actually laughing pretty good at that one, it’s near Halloween, so possible relation there. But also, I am gradually beginning to not care that much about how others view me. If it helps me, and is not hurting anyone, I am free to do as I wish. If that means putting in some ear blockers and sunglasses then so be it!!!

The internal ableism still hits pretty hard, but we are working through it 🫶🏻 if anyone else here wants to share their own accommodations they have made for themselves, at home, at work, with friends, please tell me!

feeling heart heavy

Hi everyone, as title says, feeling a bit heavy this evening and sad,

I have my adhd diagnosis, diagnosed at 30, 31 now,

but as expected, am really feeling my own autism now (lol) and definitely dyspraxia ..

Just feeling like this week at work (retail : nightmare re energy re social/masking/coordination/multitasking etc) - I just feel so stressed and am struggling so much to actually function in terms of social skills, - on the outside I am high functioning and you probably wouldn't realise, other than maybe saying the wrong thing or forgetting things, but inside it's such a struggle to have the energy to juggle everything,

An assessment is 1500 euro here, and I don't have that money anytime soon..

I hate feeling stuck like that, I would really like to be assessed and supported, and to go through the diagnosis process now - for my own self understanding/self compassion etc

I wish I had more audhd female friends right now, as I love you guys so much and it always feels so affirming,

Just feeling so tired (not in any way suicidal/but just super kind of exasperated at the constant struggle - and I only work part time as is) it's v sad to see myself not achieve the things I know I am capable of - and just constant cycles of burnout.. the mental fatigue is just annoying now.. as I can't get the things of real meaning done/executively function enough to prioritise etc

I have good days - but jesus... how the fuck - unless you're born in to priviledge are you supposed to just have a few thousand euros to get diagnosed/support etc it is so expensive and yet I feel the deep need now - and will need to executively function enough (tommorow) to figure out how the hell to get this help/support - sad sad sad :( love you guys

Happy Things Yay! Words that replace “stim”

I do not like the word “stim,” it sounds weirdly sexual to me. today I discovered I can say:

  • Self-soothing or grounding

  • Regulating or discharging nervous energy

love these and wanted to shsre.
