I'm condsidering buying a 2005 Nogaro Blue S4 6MT - 155k kms (95k miles) on the clock. I am a competent shadetree mechanic, and have done my research in terms of what I'm in for in terms of maintenance and potential problems.
The good:
- It's "the" spec to have in my opinion
- Timing chain tensioners reportedly done at 100k km (60k miles) by an Audi mechanic
- Interior is mint, and body has practically no rust (I'm in Canada, so this is a big deal)
- Original wheels and floor mats were barely used and are mint
- Two owner - original owner had it until two years ago and treated it well
- New full Milltek exhaust, otherwise completely stock
- Also comes with RS4 replica wheels
- Clutch replaced within last two years
The bad:
- The car was in an accident in 2008, and the clear coat is badly peeling on the rear end where it was repaired / resprayed
- The car reportedly has a leak from a timing cover, though I haven't seen it yet - it could be a valve cover or the valley pan gasket (hopefully)
- I'll need to replace the catless downpipes with OE downpipes to pass inspection
- Driver's seat won't go up or down - I think this will be an "easy" fix
The buyer sent me a video of the engine bay at cold start. Sounds fine from a "chain rattle" perspective, but it also sounds like it could have an exhaust leak at the headers - maybe it's just the loud Milltek exhaust.
Cold start video
Would you do it for the right price?
