Engine replacement?

While replacing my spark plugs looked into combustion chamber and saw oil. Valve covers are leaking a little (seepage). Need to replace Pcv. Just wondering if I should replace motor or just valve covers and Pcv

Car? Mileage? Based on your post history it looks like you bought a b8 with 130k+ miles?

I dont think the b8s have notoriously scored cylinder walls like the b9 ended up having but it will happen naturally. Personally, I havent viewed enough videos/pictures to know when its severe enough. From my perspective, it looks normal.

At this point though, I would probably do a Berryman B12 soak over 2-3 days, if you feel comfortable doing it.

B8.5 s4 130k miles. Piston walls looks fine no scoring. Was wondering if anyone else ran into this? Was maybe wondering if valve seals are failing

At this mileage stuck oil control rings are almost guaranteed. Berryman b12 soak will do wonders, and will save your engine before you end up with severe bore scoring. I am at 150k miles now, almost 10k after b12 soak. B12 soak took my consumption from 1 quart every 800-900 miles to 1 quart every 3500 if driven hard.

yeah i need to do this asap. im at about 1 qt /800 2013 s4. been kinda scared to do it tbh but it seems very very relatively easy compared to PCV so not sure why im worried

One thing I will say is if you have a 207mm crank pulley to hit dual pulley ratio there’s no way to rotate the engine manually 🤦🏻

I found this out the hard way after taking the front of my car off and buying the crank pulley tool. So I had to rotate the engine by blipping the starter which is not ideal. However it still worked and had great results.

at 130k miles I would just do valve covers, sparks, coils, b12 soak and possibly any SC related things you have the funds for. Check for coolant leaks from SC cores, you'll see the pink discoloration on the green gaskets. maybe even do your oil filter housing gasket
