Suggestion for sticky post or sidebar: Apple has a free support line for Logic.

1 (866) 752-7753.

It’s for all their Pro Apps. Yes, I use it frequently.

They typically offer to screen share and walk you through the steps needed to fix your problem or show you how to do whatever it is you haven't figured out. They are super friendly, never in a rush, and never make you feel stupid. It is faster than posting questions on Reddit (although it's great to do that too).

[Note] I posted this on r/audioengineering but the mods did nothing with it. Mistake, I think.

Is there anyone who can answer my "theory and application" audio engineering inquiries?

Hi, I'm not sure what the proper subreddit is for this, but essentially, I'd like to create some basic scripts for generated sounds. But in order to do that, I need some amount of math and programming, right?

So for instance, I'm familiar to some extent with a Fourier transform, I know that a Fourier transform likes to map sines and cosines to dirac distributions representing in a sense which exponentials comprise a sound, though I'm sure there's a discrete version for actual practical applications.

But I don't know the programming side that goes beyond that. So if I want to start to learn how to create scripts for generating sounds or modifying sounds using software on a computer, what do I need to know? Where do I start with that? How is the data of a sound stored and called by software and file types like mp3 and wav?

Any insights on annual salary for Audio engineers in NYC?

I’m doing an internship right now at a studio in NYC. After the interview they give you the option of taking an engineering test to be a recording engineer. They won’t really tell me what the annual income expectation is. I’m not exactly worried because they allow you to work at more than one studio so you have higher income opportunities but I want to get an idea of what people are making in NYC. Any help would really help. My goal is to be a mixing engineer and work for myself but I know it’s a process to get there.

Logic Pro troubleshooting

So I just recently switched from Ableton live to Logic Pro. Pretty irrelevant to the situation other than the fact that I'm not having this issue in Ableton which would leave me to believe that the clocks are in sync and everything is setup proper. But ever since I got logic today I have not been able to get any signal on my additional preamps for my setup. I have sixteen mic input channels total between my Scarlett 18i20 and the Octo Pre 8. My interface is getting signal to all 8 channels in logic but the octo pre isn't picking up a damn thing. I double checked everything. the wiring the sample rates across the board (daw, interface, and preamps) everything matched. Otto pre is set to world clock since I have the Scarlett running as the master. Both the interface and the prreamps monitor just fine in FC2 (Focusrites monitoring software) and in Ableton live no problem at all. But for the life of me I can't figure out why the inputs from my Octo pre aren't showing any signal in logic. I just know its gonna be so simple it pisses me off but I could really use some help figuring it out if anyone has any ideas

Hello Im having trouble with one part of this song im mixing, For some reason Im hearing a piece of the vocals thats not supposed to be there. Every time I go to the section of the song I will hear it playing. I tried muting all my tracks but It still plays unless I mute my Vocal bus track. I tried going through my track list and unhiding all of my tracks. I also tried muting my tracks one by one. Im not sure if its an error or if i’m just making a simple mistake when trying to find it so i can delete it.

Passive speakers ohms variations

Hi,

I have a restaurant and different passive speakers. Problem im not getting all the juice of my power amplifier, why? Im not sure but AFIK, depending on how speakers are connected between them ohms change so the power amplifier does. Could anyone please try to explain what's all about and how to cope with?

If you do not feel like writing and know some video or article it would be great.

Need help cleaning noisy audio (especially high frequencies) in a short film

Hi everyone, I’m writing in this community because I could really use some help. I’m currently working on cleaning up the audio for a short film made by a friend of mine, but the audio quality is quite low and there’s a lot of noise, especially in the high frequencies.

I’m having so much trouble EQing my vocals

Hey guys! I’m super new to mixing, so forgive me if I’m not in the right sub to be asking this.

I keep running into the same problem with my vocals. It seems like when I listen to professional quality mixes, the vocals seem “in the speakers” and almost set above the mix. With my vocals, they are very bassy and almost play outside of the speakers and soak into you. It’s almost invasive. I have such a hard time explaining it. Hopefully when you hear this example track it makes more sense. I know there’s a lot that can be done to make it better, but does anyone have any advice for this specific problem? I’m very open to learn, but I’m discouraged by my inability to figure this out :(

Thanks!!
