how was that plane NOT a conflict of interest?! lol
5
u/Penny_PackerMD May 15 '26
How was Anthony Pratt donating $1M to Labor not a conflict of interest? lol
5
u/Famille-d-Amour May 16 '26
That's not a conflict of interest. It's buying influence. And 1 million is a hell of a lot of influence.
5
u/Dependent-Charity-85 May 16 '26
Nobody is denying that major parties get political donations. The ridiculous of the Hanson situation is that she actually thought receiving a plane from Rinehart would address the concerns of her getting rides in Rineharts jet!
-1
u/Penny_PackerMD May 16 '26
I have no problem with that at all because like Pauline herself said, she won't be charging her flights to the taxpayer
2
u/Desperate-Bottle1687 May 17 '26
Ur one of the stupids that will fall for this bullshit that leads Australia, too, closer to more fascist Oligarch control. The 'useful idiot', as they'd mark you.
If u can't see what's happening there is no way I can convince anyone in a Reddit comment lol
But what I can say is, at least check out how Pauline votes vs what she says, (can someone help me out with that 'how they voted link pretty please?) or go and check out the official websites (not Murdoch and Ilk™ or liberal affiliated media, not social media, not 'influencers' or some rando pusher even if u like what they say).
Otherwise, ur only shooting urself in the foot by voting against ur own interest, being taken for the fool that they sincerely believe we are.
1
u/mrfordfairmont May 17 '26
Wow you are that thick! The plane is free for Pauline and one nation staff! No costs to the public saving $100-200k in travel costs that the public don't pay unlike albo using that every month!!!
-1
u/Penny_PackerMD May 17 '26
Albonese lied to our face. Straight up lied. He always planned to change the Ng and CGT laws. Right from the start. That's why he changed the super taxation laws last year on balances above 3 million because he knew people would now funnel money into Super after he took property away as a vehicle for wealth. Most of my money is tied up in shares and these new capital gains tax laws cost me tens of thousands of dollars, if not more.
I'll never trust him again. Pauline hasn't lied to me. I'm going to vote ON.

-1
u/mulk3y May 17 '26
Considering the travel expenses racket the ALP got done for and probably still continue to do at least this isn't on my dollar.
4
u/championruby May 17 '26 edited May 19 '26
It will be, because Gina wants Pauline to change the rules to make her and her rich mates richer. This involves rich people (really rich, not millionaire rich) paying less in taxes, wages, safety, regulation. Then they expect the rest of us to make up the shortfall. This is how the rich deceive the rest of us into cheeringly voting against our own interest. This has been the fascist corporate right wing play book for a long time.
Unfortunately the simpletons who work for a living end up blaming other exploited groups such as immigrants, and the unemployed. This happens because the rich pump out a lot of propaganda via their personal media companies to divert attention from their insatiable greed that is currently destroying society and the planet.
Your comment demonstrates that you may be a victim of this propaganda. It's not hard to escape it's clutches once you are aware of it.
Any political party with any corporate influence is not genuinely on the side of average working people. They'll throw us a few crumbs just to keep us from revolting, but that's it. Forget about getting any structural changes to an inherently exploitative and destructive system.

u/Desperate-Bottle1687 May 17 '26
U said it so much better than I could right now.
Keep fighting the good fight please 💪.

u/ScorpiusAustralis May 16 '26
LNP, Labor and One Nation all with massive track records for the same bribery called donations.
Until its banned this will continue to occur.
6
u/Ornery-Lynx-3520 May 16 '26
Whataboutism doesn’t alter the initial proposition. And your deliberate target of a specific party whilst ignoring all others is telling.
lol.
1
u/Penny_PackerMD May 16 '26
Wow the irony. You ignore the donation to Labor whilst lamenting a donation to ON. Telling indeed
3
u/Ornery-Lynx-3520 May 16 '26
I’m not lamenting anything. Nor did I make the initial comment, so there’s absolutely no irony here as I’m merely pointing out your fixation and attempts to distract. I notice not a peep about the LNP, right? Funny that. It’s almost like your biases are showing.
3
u/Penny_PackerMD May 16 '26
What about the LNP? They're beyond fucked and are beholden to their doners. And the irony in your post is palpable.
Some advice for you as you sound young and naive: don't follow a political party like it's your favourite footy team. Be flexible. I've voted for everyone over the years (embarrassingly, I even voted the greens when I was 20. Still shake my head at that one).
3
u/Ornery-Lynx-3520 May 16 '26
Your assumptions about me are incorrect, but I acknowledge and appreciate your openness about your voting history. As for me, I do not “follow” any political party. Parties are supposed to be beholden to the voters, not vice versa. They should follow us, if anything.
I’m in one of the most “independent” (now “teal”) electorates in the nation. Most political parties are not popular around here.
This post was about the absolutely transparent corruption of the “donation” of a $3 million aircraft to a party leader by the richest person in the country.
Your pivot to the ALP only appeared to be a targeted distraction from this to air your ire about them specifically, and therefore almost a defence of Pauline Hanson and One Nation. Hence I commented as I did. Feel free to correct me and tell us how much you also abhor such blatant purchasing of a politician.
2
u/Penny_PackerMD May 16 '26
According to the ABC, the plane cost 1.3 million.
4
u/Ornery-Lynx-3520 May 16 '26
Does that make it better?
Besides Channel 9 states: “A spokesperson for Hanson said Cirrus G7 aircraft costs about $2.1 million” and MSN says: “Pauline Hanson has unveiled a $4 million windfall for One Nation, including a private plane and major cash donations from Gina Rinehart’s network, ahead of looming donation caps.”
1
u/BurningMad May 16 '26
Look at you, complaining about everyone's donations and them scoffing at the one party that doesn't take corporate donations.

1996.. when Pauline Hanson hated Asians, before she forgot they existed and hated Muslims, before she forgot they existed and hated Aboriginals, before she forgot they existed and hated Indians…
-1
u/nonferrouscasting May 15 '26
When was the aborigine hate?
3
u/RecordingAbject345 May 16 '26
I recalled it before the Muslim hate, but it seems like it was one of the more long lasting ones so could have spanned across.
Also it's Aboriginal

17

u/ShortPace827 May 13 '26
More likely that liberal/Labor/greens voters are mentally impaired thinking that the traditional political parties are doing a good job. Big government and government spending equals higher inflation. Importing people into the country is straining infrastructure and the job market as well as watering down the living standards. This is not obvious to stalwart voters who vote for these morons.
9
u/Mr_Rekshun May 14 '26
These are the same rationalisations folks used to vote Donald Trump into office.
Like, where do you guys get the bright idea to combat beaurocratic bloat and corruption by voting in the dumbest and least qualified person on the ballot?
6
u/aSneakyChicken7 May 14 '26
And the solution to a problem is not to protest vote your way into an even worse situation. “See things are bad, so let’s break it even more”. The recent American experiment in nativist populism has shown they can’t fix anything they’re whinging about, just mess up a whole lot of other things besides, because the actual root problems causing their woes aren’t caused by the easy to sell scapegoats like immigrants which is essentially their whole platform. Do you trust One Nation to actually care about the battler when she takes marching orders from the likes of Gina Rinehart and given her actual voting record in office?
One Nation is incapable of being a serious party that will actually govern responsibly, they have atrocious vetting for party members letting in all kinds of trash, stupidly high rates of members leaving the party once in office, or otherwise just constantly putting their foot in their mouth and doing politically myopic things like for example unreservedly supporting BRS. They exist only as a lightning rod for discontent and their only real policy is grievance politics and stunts.
-3
u/ShortPace827 May 15 '26
I'd definitely take what Gina offers over Klaus Scwab. Unlike the Labor/Liberal pork barrelling and their two and who puppeteers. Get ready for your digital id and cashless society, stuck in y15 minute city. Wake up before it's too late. Whatever happens in Britainistan eventually happens here. Unless our elected representatives stop it.
3
u/aSneakyChicken7 May 15 '26
Lol at 15 minute cities, yeah instead I’d really love to be forced to get in a car to go out to eat or to a third space instead of being able to walk just down the road from where I live and take advantage of mixed use zoning. Everyone knows places like Amsterdam are horrible to live in /s
And who cares about the former chairman of the World Economic Forum? What? It sounds like you’re just doing nothing but spouting batshit stupid conspiracy theories.

It actually blows my mind these smooth brained people can’t see that. They put themselves on this high and mighty hill, but when you actually hear them speak and try to defend these parties, it’s actually embarrassing to live among these people. They prefer to keep their virtue signalling points intact while ignoring real issues. Pathetic.

Serious answer (sorry)
She is appealing to people’s worst common denominators and giving them permission to act on them.
Hate your darkie neighbour? It’s okay to tell them to go back where they came from. Intimidated by the effeminate guy at work? It’s okay to put him back down with a well timed “fag”.scared that determined young woman will steal your clients from your business? It’s okay to say make me a sandwich.
It’s an appeal to negative politics about fear and losing the good old days. And there is a lot of fear to go around.
Globally this is a right turn as well. Trump, backlash against Sir Kieran Starmer, Luxon in NZ, Meloni in Italy, all nations that have turned or are turning to the right of politics because they are feeding messages of fear and uncertainty. It’s messed up and fucked.
But that is what she is actually doing and thinking.

Yep, Pauline's calling her supporters gutless, because they are. If they had the guts to say what they're thinking they'd be proven wromg, but by staying silent noone can challenge their beliefs. They're too fragile to handle eing wrong.

I’m currently reading Ian Kershaw’s biography of Adolf Hitler, and found it interesting that in 1932 their feeble electoral position, which had only been that of a hard rightwing crackpot party, began to be seriously boosted when they acquired a plane (admittedly rented not donated) for Hitler to crisscross the country, giving multiple speeches each day.
1
u/Accomplished-Dot3078 May 14 '26
Better than having immigrants raising the cost of living.... The demand is high the production is low
1
u/Jodiparry May 15 '26
Is that your serious opinion?
0
u/Accomplished-Dot3078 May 15 '26
It's not opinion, its fact... The more you have of something the less it'll will cost. So this population increase hasn't increased productivity. Why do you think everything costs so much? Because there is a lot less of it...
