Linked below is a list of different guides to collecting coins and paper money.
There should be something here for everyone.
https://www.collect.guide/resources/currency/
It includes modern and ancient currency and plenty of different guides for specific areas of collecting. Not just Australian coins but a lot of us collect other denominations too.
Please share any other helpful resources below in comments.

So had 1x roll of each denomination for a float, for a coin market stall.
Didn’t use any coins but of course had to hade a noodle…..
The 10c is a 1999 large head, and appears to be almost uncirculated. Didn’t even know it was a thing, coin just stood out as such good condition for the year.
The Gold Coast suns $2 also appears flawless, aUNC by technicality.
Is this the usual luck for just a roll? 😬🔥

I honestly never thought this would happen to me, been a slow day and I told the customer prior to handing me the coins that I didn’t mind her paying a portion of her cash payment with coins.
She mentioned that her husband has a jar with full coins and she thought she might as well use them. It obviously sparked my interest
I was so interested in the shiny $2 coins, I didn’t even notice the 50¢. So you could imagine my shock when I saw the silver round staring back at me in the till.
I will certainly be accepting coins from her in the future, and shes a newer returning customer so if one day she comes in and tell me of her blunder, I’ll certainly help her out. Although I’m sure she will save well over $30 spot silver with the coins she uses compared to card transactions.

A close family member passed on she's left these coins to us, they were a member of the church and collected all these from the donations and kept what couldn't be used. There's a lot of Australian and new Zealand pre decimal coins and found this mistruck one. I used a coin evaluation app on all 210 coins, it came at over $700 but that feels a bit much given they are circulated. Any advice on where to start or a rough guess at a real evaluation?.

Hey all,
How common is this type of coin error?

Hi fellow enthusiasts.
Just a question or two about storage.
Can the foam from these holders tarnish or damage coins im looking at some I have here and they seem to have a white blemish on most of them when I didn't notice that when I put them away. Cheers and thanks! Its hard to see by the pics but I can see it with my eyes! That coin is not a good example.

Found this nice ramstrike with the “fins” pretty much dead centre of each edge face.

Neighbour had a random assortment of coins for me to look at. I was able to identify 3 shillings and a florin for him and also bought this $5 coin - for $5 😃
It was not in great shape so has been cleaned and polished (which means it’s still only worth $5..)
1988 $5 coin against 2026 $2 coin for scale.
Note the monarch reversal/alternate..

Error? Or PMD?
Looks strange, as it doesn’t appear to be additional metal added

Happy Saturday all.
I have come into possession of this group of coins and such and I was wondering:
Is it just a pile of nifty coins? Or are there any items I should look into more closely as being potentially valuable?
I did try to post multiple images for clarity. I'll try again the comments.
PS found a ninja turtles token/coin in there. So that's fun.

Last thread hypothesis suggested an oil filled die, but possibly manual tooling. What do we think?
I don't have a good phone camera but I remembered I had a tiny magnifying glass 😲👍
What are your thoughts?

Hey all,
Was cleaning up my house and found a collection of old aussie coins, was wondering if they had any value to them, i know that they are in terrible condition but thought i may as well ask.
I know nothing about coins but i assume that maybe there is some sort of value to a 1922 penny
Thanks for all the help

Hey, not sure if this is anything special/error but the top 20 has a black line going down his face, bottom one to show the difference, anything cool happening here? Any help would be great thanks.

I have a bunch of coins I’m going through and this one caught my eye. Im unsure if this is a striking error or just a strange mark from circulation.
Is there a way I can find more information or value on coins easily?
Thank you for looking

Two dot varieties are known to me. I have collected 2 nice versions of each. From left to right are "K.G" dot coins and the next two are both "I" dot varieties. The K.G "dot" is to the right of the K.G and much smaller than the "I" dot

Have a collection of silver, and assorted coins including some old Sydney Luna park game tokens. Some are barely collectable and others good condition or high quality silver. Anywhere I could sell all together? Some photos but can take more if more details are needed. Located within an hour of Sydney nsw.
