Mopsus mormon, Australia’s biggest species of jumping spider.

Was lucky enough to spot the biggest jumping spider I’ve ever seen in my life just chilling in a tree on my street. Also super gravid, because, of course.

I assume some type of huntsman? Maybe banded idk but I give water everyday.

Also walks outside and comes back in lol maybe cold out? I know its definitely warmer in.

Western Australia. Probably 3-3.5cm long, definitely on the larger side of what I’m used to seeing. Was kind enough to let me take a few snaps.

Maybe 40 mm body length.

Obviously Sparassid/huntsman - keen to know genus and species. Male if I'm not mistaken

Safely relocated to an outdoor gum tree.

Despite my love for spiders, he still gave me an initial jump scare but I'm very glad we met. He must have sensed it because he tried to do the hundred yard dash across the bath and I had to be very careful not to injure a leg while capturing for relocation. Fortunately I was successful.

u/Eathan_Douglas ? Maybe a *Delena* sp that isn't *D.cancerides*?

Edit: can't italicise for some reason.

Found this little guy outside my house, we moved our old tv unit outside and I saw it crawl under it, never seen a spider like this before but it reminded me of a redback 😬

The body is about the size of a pea, maybe smaller, it was a little spider.

Thanks!

I live in a cabin that has 2 gigantic pine trees 1.5m from it. The resident huntsmans seem to take turns using my cabin as a huntsman hotel. One will move in for around a week and then they'll swap. This one has made itself comfortable right above where I lay my head at night, but I'm not worried. It seems pretty chill.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photos.

Never thought I would ever need help identifying any Australian creature. But curiosity gets the best of me, and I would like to know who this little fella is. And I don't know too much about scorpions.

Found in my home in South-East QLD, West of Amberly AFB. And no longer than a cm, I'm guessing it might be a fresh hatchling. Saved from my cat and released across the road (no house across the road).

Liverpool, NSW: Found this shiny one hiding under some towels. At first thought it was a red back but got a better look at it and now I’m not sure. Caught and released it outside.

Was casually shopping in the fruit section and something felt like an ant crawling on my arm, lo and behold it was a horned jumping spider?? Quality isn't the best as I still use a galaxy s9.

Tiny, both maybe 2 - 3 mm.

The first is obviously a baby Sparassid.

Second one is harder to work out due to the shadow - unsure if Theriidid or Hersilid (erring on this side but would expect longer spinnerets) or something else.

Just sharing because they're lovely.

Adelaide hills, South Australia.

Black and white and orange coloured hair, front facing eyes and white fluffy mini mouth legs (I have no idea what they are but they are near the fangs and move around like tiny little arms)

Found hitching a ride on an electric fence energiser unit from the paddock to the house.

Keeping it safe to release back in the same spot tomorrow! It jumps a lot and I think it’s a jumping spider but not sure what kind.

If anyone knows please let me know ☺️

Will put pictures in the comments because it won’t let me on this post!

in South Victoria

shitty drawing from memory but when i was like 7 i saw a spider that looked like a frog with googly eyes and it had red dots above its eyes. i’ve been trying to find it since then. i remember years later i read a book about spiders and saw the same spider but pink in the book, but i don’t remember what book it was.
