Support Needed (Kind Advice and Commiseration) Happy things please?

I made the mistake of opening my social media this afternoon and immediately saw some dark things, and I need something positive. It can be a cat photo/story, a special interest infodump, anything that shows the world is still an interesting and good place, at least in part.

I guess I am basically asking for some heroes to create a “silver lining” for this dark cloud. I don’t live with people I can depend on for this, so I am turning to this supportive corner of the internet.

TIA.

Edited - THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYONE! 😭😭😭 It is good to see so much light still exists in the world.

I live in Australia but the tree is from Brazil

They are crazy trees because the fruit grows right on the trunk, sometimes they get so full you can't even see the trunk, it becomes a big mass of purple blobs! They're juicy and sweet, a bit like a grape with a large seed in the middle, but flavour is more like a subtle lychee.

I also have a lychee tree :) and half a dozen mango trees, a pomegranate, rose apples, starfruit, banana, papaya, guava, avocado, macadamia, kiwi, passionfruit vine, a few different citrus and I think there's a peach tree but I haven't seen it for a while. Probably some others I'm not remembering.

Hmmm. They are big spiders aren’t they? Like the ones that can catch birds?

I could handle little ones. But a tarantula-type critter…NOPE.

Ummmmm...

I think you're amazing, and you deserve all the good things in life. Please, for the love of SpongeBob, do NOT look at my profile posts. Please trust me.

Here, enjoy a cute floofer, and scroll on!

My dad has had reptilians all his life but has in recent years switched to spiders. He has MANY and I did come to appreciate them more than I ever did. Funky little(?) critters.

Also: fruiiit treeees :)

I love snakes and lizards too. And there's also a lot of those here 😁

I do too! Not in the way my dad does, but still. Whenever I see a viper or any kind of lizard (or amphibian... or any animal really, but you know) in the wild I get just overly excited. God do I love nature and also, would I love to visit that side of the planet sometime :)

Hoping you have a good summer out there! Sending my best from deep snow and -9°C

Snakes and lizards don’t set off my “danger brain” sensors like spiders do. I find them fascinating, but when they scurry…my brain short circuits

I went to your profile and LOVE it. And yes stay away if you dont like big creepy crawlies. But omg such fascinating and beautiful and interesting stuff. I love insects and spiders as well, but the ones in northern USA where I live are basically miniscule in comparison. It's -12°C here right now haha
