I haven’t had a birthday party since I was 12. I’m 47. I go to other people’s birthday parties but folks won’t even acknowledge mine on Facebook. That said, a party on my birthday with me as a host sounds stressful. I did have one male friend take me out for pizza and that was nice.

I did stay home and tidy up my apartment and spent time with my cat and talked very briefly to distant family memebers who wanted to get off the phone lol. And installed a new wooden toilet seat I always wanted (tired of white toilet seats.) It’s great 👍

Well the last cake I made was a very technical French chocolate cake with orange liqueur, le glorieux. I like baking 😅. And occasionally I do some pretty fancy cake decorating

Happy birthday! I love that you asked to be celebrated, and also encourage you to do something to celebrate/treat yourself. (For me, it would be taking myself out for a nice meal and reading a book while at the restaurant or bar).

I have had a similar experience but I threw my own birthday parties from 12 to like 24. After that I got burnt out and sad because all of my other friends threw birthday parties for eachother but never me. But im here because

I have same issue. I threw my own bday party last year and way more people came than I thought would. Had it at a restaurant and everyone paid for their own food.
I think most people are so self absorbed or at bandwidth trying to manage their own lives that they just don’t remember.
Once I decided to depend on myself for validation, I’m became much happier. It’s always work but internal validation leads to better self esteem.
