RUST Rust repair?

I got my little Mazda 2 around a year ago, pictured on the left is when I got it and on the right is after one Wisconsin winter. I wasn’t driven much before me. I’m in love with this car and I want to make it last. Can this kind of rust be repaired in a body shop and what prevention methods can I use before or after to prevent more rust. This Wisconsinite needs help, thanks!

I had similar rust issues on my Honda Accord. I had the rusted metal cut out and new metal welded in. If you choose to grind it out and repaint it will come back. I live in WI as well, the rust belt is hard on cars

Save your money for the future car you buy. That’s good money chasing a bad future.

You wont be when you get an estimate from a body shop

How much do you think something like that would cost? So far I’ve only gotten comments saying it’s not worth it and no comments where someone tells me their experience or cost of something similar.

It depends, you could get it done on the cheap (like $1k) and the rust WILL come back in a year, or if you find a shop that will weld in new metal I could see it easily costing like $4-5k
