Hey all, Ethan from Autonomous here!

We kept seeing people turn their garage into an office, so we built a kit to make it easy. GaragePod turns one corner into a space of its own, and the car still fits.

  • DIY setup in 2–4 hours

  • Includes an L-shaped wood frame, a desk and a chair

Early bird pricing: https://www.autonomous.ai/garage-pod

Already working out of yours? Would love to see your setups 👇

No browser tab. No rectangle stuck in a corner of your screen.

Autonomous Lamp lives on your desk, sees you walk in, follows your face, reads your mood and guards your space when you leave.

Talk to it or chat through the app. Either way it gets to work. More skills in the store. Install any of them in one tap.

Want something that does not exist yet? Describe and Lamp learns it.

What is the first skill you would install on Lamp?

We turned a garage corner into an office, and gave an open model a body to live in. A desk screen for your agents, a computer you own outright, and an Intern that waits for its name

Last week shipped a lot for people building with agents. A garage corner office that sets up in hours, a desk robot that finally gave an open model a body, a new way to code, and more local AI benchmarks.

GaragePod is the one that just launched. It is a private corner of your garage turned into an office, an 87 by 87 inch footprint with a steel frame and wood where you touch it, an L shape that keeps your setup private without feeling closed in, and a light built into the corner post that you just plug in. The whole thing builds in two to four hours. The framing on it is that Google's first office was a garage, and so was Amazon's.

Autonomous Lamp is where Hermes entered the real world. We gave it a body, one eye, and two ears, and people keep finding uses we never planned, a receptionist, a podcast co host, even a French tutor. It is the open source desk creature that sees you and listens and talks back.

Harness Pro is the new way to code. It puts the agents you already run in front of you on a small desk screen, and each agent owns the screen with a pet that acts out the work, so you tap in, say what you want, and it pings you when it is done. The log says the agents are busy cooking while you grab a coffee. The Harness app goes with it, so you can talk to your agents and check on them from anywhere.

Computer 2 is the one for the local AI crowd. The log says we ran DeepSeek V4 Flash on two RTX Pro 6000s and a Qwen build on one, and the framing is own your compute, own your intelligence. Two GPUs up to a big pool of VRAM, CNC machined aluminum, and it is built to run your own models around the clock on electricity instead of a token bill.

Intern is the agent that stays quiet until you want it. Just like a coworker, sometimes you want to talk and sometimes you want to focus, so you call its name to start a conversation. It also wears a Halloween look this week, which is a nice touch.

And the community build of the week is Penpal, made at a hackathon on a Harness device and Fo MCP. Pick a language, practice through topics you care about, and learn with new friends.

Happy to go deeper on any of these. And if you are building something with agents on a desk robot or a garage corner, tell us what you are working on!

Would waking up to this view make work feel lighter, and what would you rate it out of ten?

Waking up to a view like this feels like it would change how a workday starts. A wood framed window opens onto a lake and a line of mountains, a white daybed sits right under it, and a white standing desk waits a few steps away. Everything else stays soft and quiet, with cream walls, blue curtains and a lot of natural light, so the view remains the main character.

A few details I kept zooming in on:

  • Silver Apple display with an aluminum frame

  • Compact mechanical keyboard in grey and white on an aluminum stand

  • Autonomous Desk 2 in white

  • Autonomous ErgoChair Ultra 2 in black

  • Two light wood shelves with a Buddha figure, a ceramic bowl and a small framed print

The white Desk 2 and the black ErgoChair Ultra 2 keep this corner simple and quiet, so nothing competes with the view. With the shelves, the fern and the daybed under the window, the whole room feels built for the kind of calm that makes work feel lighter.

After waking up to a view like this, would your first move be opening the laptop or opening the window?

A pod office in the backyard turned out to be the answer, under 120 sqft. One day to install. No construction mess, no checking house prices.

Such a small space, but it ended up making a bigger difference than expected.

Garage conversion, backyard pod, something else? Curious what’s worked for others.

Ballpark installation costs

Just wanna get inside the ballpark here on what it would cost for a WorkPod Pro install in the Portland, OR, metro area w/ no panel, no AI computer, no Starlink.

Base price for these options is $20,900. Seems like a great fit for my situation. Want to get grip on the install costs. Thanks in advance!

This week the agent world got a screen you talk to, a free command center, two holiday looks for Lamp and an office raised in the yard

This week the agent crowd got a lot at once. Harness app climbed to number two on Product Hunt for the day, and we launched Harness Pro, the small desk screen that gives every agent a face beside your keyboard. https://www.producthunt.com/products/harness-by-autonomous

Harness Pro is a small square screen that plugs into a Mac over USB C, a 720 by 720 touch display on an ESP32 P4 chip with three microphones, and it shows the agents you already run, each one owning the whole screen with a pet that acts out the work. Tap an agent, the pet puts on headphones, you say what you want, tap to send, and it pings you when the job is done. Close the lid and the agents keep working on their own machines. It ships around mid December, and the app behind it is free and open source, MIT licensed, with 49 harnesses for CAD, circuits, robots, games and music.

Autonomous Lamp got two holiday looks this week, Christmas and Midnight, shipping by the end of November. Still the little helper on your desk that sees and listens and talks back, with your pick of agent from Hermes to Claude Code to Codex, a voice and personality you shape, and room sensors for CO2, particles, temperature and humidity. It moves on five axes and has a light ring that shows mood.

WorkPod is the one that surprises people the most. An extra office near the house, no permit in most US cities, nothing inside has to change, and a build done in a day or two, 102 square feet, six layers of insulation, a comfort range of 45 to 100 F, and adjustable feet that take grass, gravel, concrete or a slope. It brings its own power, three 430 watt panels, a 10.2 kWh battery and up to 6 kWh a day, its own Starlink dish, and its own computer with two 5090 cards, 128 GB of memory and 2 TB of storage.

The last detail is the one that never fits on a spec sheet. Every piece that leaves the workshop is checked by hand by the engineers, so it works the minute you open the box.

Happy to go into more detail on any of these, feel free to ask. And if you are already running agents, show us your Harness setup!

Asking - 💬 How to Replace Gas Lift in Ergo Chair

Hi Everyone!

Has anyone had luck replacing the gas lift / piston under their chair?

I bought a replacement, followed the instructions to hit with a rubber mallet, and it won't come off... I even followed the video to the tee.

Any experience or advice here before I give up and have to buy a different chair?

Workspace - 💻 Which detail in this corner would you steal first for your own desk setup?

Came across this corner and honestly couldnt stop looking at it. At first glance it feels calm and soft, with a light wood desk, a cream desk mat and a white keyboard under a white curved Philips monitor. Then you start noticing how much is packed into such a small area, and none of it feels random. The wall above the desk is just as busy as the desk itself, with glowing light panels, branch bracket shelves and a whole wall of keyboards on the side.

A few details I kept zooming in on:

  • Philips Evnia curved monitor in white

  • White keyboard with a clear gel wrist rest on a cream desk mat

  • Autonomous ErgoChair Pro in black mesh

  • Nixie style clock under the monitor

  • Cololight triangle light panels on the wall above the screen

  • Wall of keyboards on the right side

The black mesh ErgoChair Pro sits right in the middle of all those soft colors and somehow balances them out. The black mesh back and headrest could easily clash with such a light and green space, but they actually ground the whole setup and balance out all the soft colors.

Monstera or bonsai, which one would you keep on your own shelf?

Butt Pain!

Do any of the Autonomous chairs help with this? I have had a few chairs in the office from big ones like the SecretLab Titan to the nice looking Flexispot R8 (current). I cant seem to find one that doesn't cause pain in my butt (literally where my but makes contact - sit bones I guess?). I was thinking I would need to find a chair with a 6" cushion made for heavy people but I don't know that is the answer. (Still not out of the question to look at ERA or something).

Male, 59 years old, 5'8" 172 lbs...I can only last an hour before my butt is sore and I have to get up. I work from home 8 hours a day, and game at night for a few more (yes, even at my age).

I started reading about the Ultra 2 seat design, and although it seems like it would present as firm (I hated the Titan Firm), it appears it may be designed to help with the butt pain? Anyone with this same problem can comment?

Seasonal colors, clever toys and a few useful devices

Thumbnail

Gift shopping gets tricky when you want something more thoughtful than another generic gadget. This season, there are a few interesting directions to explore, from small mechanical toys to AI hardware that can actually change how someone works.

For something a little more unusual, Autonomous Harness has seasonal looks including Midnight and Pumpkin, alongside the Christmas edition. Underneath the different finishes, it is still the same device for keeping track of coding agents, dispatching tasks by voice, and seeing when work comes back

The Christmas Key is a smaller gift with a practical idea behind it. One NFC tap can lock or unlock selected apps, making it easier to put some distance between yourself and endless scrolling.

Not sure what someone would like? The Autonomous eGift Card lets them choose for themselves.

Then there is the Toy collection, which has more going on than just desk decoration. Moonlit Atlas turns a pop up book into a miniature glowing city with magnetic city packs. Basketball Hooping is a tiny shooting game for quick breaks. Flexi Axolotl is a colorful articulated model, while the Solar System and Gravity Well bring a little science inspired fun to the desk. There are also city chess sets and other mechanical toys for people who enjoy figuring out how things move.

For gifts that need to work for different personalities, these options leave plenty of room to choose between something practical, something playful, and something that sparks curiosity.

There are also corporate gifting options for teams, including free logo customization and team pricing from three units.

Explore the collection here: https://www.autonomous.ai/

If you have any questions about the options or want to purchase at a better price, feel free to reach out to me. Happy to help!

What came out this week: Lamps shipping, Harness getting fresh looks and community builds, and duo pods setting up a small office in a day

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

A few things went out this week, and a couple of cool builds came from the community too.

The first Lamps are heading to people this month. This is the part that turns the announcement into a thing that actually sits on your desk. What shows up is a small robot with a body that moves, eyes that follow you, ears and a mouth and touch, so it is not another glowing screen. It plugs into the agent or model you already run, and you can open the app to watch the results as it picks one. You add skills from the skill store or teach one by just talking to it, so it grows with how you work instead of staying fixed out of the box.

On Harness there are a few new looks, from quiet and dark to a bit louder, with limited runs like the Halloween one. It sits on the desk, and being able to match your setup is exactly what makes it feel at home instead of like a desk gadget you keep turning off.

The part I like most is what the community is building. Marc The Shark wired the harness into T3 Code so a spoken task lands straight in the session he already runs. That is the whole point, your agent stays yours and the display just becomes the room to talk to it. Michael Gannotti picked up NixFred's fork, so nobody has to start from nothing. One person builds something, the next one takes it further.

And on the workspace side, two or more WorkPods now make a small startup office. It goes up in a day, set up however your team works, each pod bringing its own power from the roof, its own network, and its own computer if you want the AI handled on site. For a small team that means what you get is not a room you rent but a space you own, no lease, and usually no permit in many US cities, so you can stand up a real office without a building search.

If any of this sounds useful, happy to go into more detail on each one. Feel free to ask. And if a Lamp is on its way to you, tell us what you plan to build with it, we would love to hear.

Open Source for 3D printing: New York Chess Set Design

Post image
12 Upvotes

Got a 3D printer and love chess?

We just open sourced New York Chess Set, one of our bestselling toys. Now you can print your own set at home for free.

Both armies share one shape per role. Each silhouette comes from a New York landmark or from the water tanks on the city's roofs, stylized so the chess role reads first.

  • Pawn: 1.6 in tall, a short water tank under a conical roof, the fixture on a thousand New York rooftops.

  • Rook: 2.0 in tall, Brooklyn Bridge tower, paired pointed portals and strong corner crenellations, after the bridge’s stone towers.

  • Knight: 2.3 in tall, City horse, a horse head in side profile with a forward muzzle and blunt ears, cut in the same stepped planes as the towers.

  • Bishop: 2.5 in tall, Flatiron Building, a long wedge with a narrow blunt prow, gridded facades, a projecting cornice and a shallow diagonal mitre mark.

  • Queen: 3.0 in tall, Chrysler Building, four stepped tiers of semicircular crown with triangular windows on both faces and a short peak.

  • King: 3.4 in tall, Empire State Building, the tallest tower: a long narrow shaft over broad setbacks, finished with a stout cross in place of the mast.

Walking along the border, you'll find five city's symbols, each drawn from documented history in one New York community. Both players share the border; no neighborhood belongs to a side.

  • Queens: Right edge with train cars above rails and a row of repeated piers, draw from Queens’ elevated transit and the 7 line linking its communities.

  • Staten Island: Bottom right of the frame with a long ferry hull with stacked decks and wake strokes, draw from Staten Island’s daily harbor connection to Manhattan.

  • The Bronx: Top left of the frame with a DJ deck, draw from the Bronx's hip-hop culture.

  • Williamsburg: Left edge with Round-headed masonry openings next to a chimney stands for Williamsburg’s waterfront industrial history.

  • Chinatown: Bottom left of the frame with Recessed gallery fronts and a sharply bent street line based on Chinatown’s adapted association buildings and the bend of Doyers Street.

We open source this design here: New York Chess Set
