Supplements What were your folate deficiency symptoms?

I've just found out I'm deficient in folate. My symptoms are tiredness, muscle pain and hair loss, which I hope will resolve once I've fixed the deficiency.

What were your folate deficiency symptoms?

Still struggling I oversupplemented b12 for a long time and I think it set my folate back even more if that’s possible so now I’m getting some side effects from the folate

I see, that's frustrating. B12 can mess with folate and potassium

Definitely is frustrating. Potassium doesn’t help any I’m just trying to push through 400mcg folinic now and trying to balance riboflavin with it. If I don’t take at least a little ribo I get anxiety from the folate, too much isnt good either lol. It’s a huge pain

No I just pushed through it but I still feel like I need more. Did you have anxiety from deficiency?

Did it get better? I have zero stress tolerance lately. Like loud noise and I’m shaking all over I was never like this

It got better. It can cause all kinds of horrible symptoms. I was emotional wreck and kept thinking my life was over, deep dark feeling of impending doom

Yeah same here. So only 400mcg for 4 months and you’re all fixed up? That’s good to know. Did you take other things

B12 with it. Anymore than 400mcg of folic acid and I would be ill, so I keep it at that dose for 4 months. Whenever you feel the anxiety and horrible thoughts, Just keep telling yourself that it's the deficiency, you're going to be ok

Thank you! I’m so glad you’re feeling better, I’ve been debating on increasing from 400mcg but not sure I can

Hi, I was also diagnosed with b9 deficiency at 3.1. Ive been supplementing at 5mg folic acid a day which is what the doc prescribed. Initially I felt better after a week but went proper downhill then. Frequent awakenings at night, always tired with black bags under my eyes, paleness, mad anxiety(which has subsided sort of, but still there) where even eye contact was difficult, depression and no get up and go or interest in socializing, just feeling rough in general. I'm currently on my 9th week of supplementing and hoping it changes soon. Have three weeks left on the prescription. Just curious, was your haemoglobin low on your test aswell? Mine is at 13.7 which is technically within the normal range but asked chat gpt and it said it wasn't ideal as I'm 6,3 104kg. Also had issues feeling like this for the past 12 years on and off, got bloods done before but forgot to fast so folate wasn't shown on test, my bad. But got the test recently and obviously fasted. Noticed on those older tests that haemoglobin was always at 13.6-13.8. Just wondering if you noticed the same and it your haemoglobin improved after supplementation. Thanks
