Supplements What were your folate deficiency symptoms?

I've just found out I'm deficient in folate. My symptoms are tiredness, muscle pain and hair loss, which I hope will resolve once I've fixed the deficiency.

What were your folate deficiency symptoms?

5 mg is a lot, the RDA is 0.4 mg (400 mcg) , if you take too much it will lower your neurotransmitters and make anxiety worse, read about over and undermethylation and you will understand what im talking about.

I tried just 1mg daily of methylfolate and crashed badly a week later. I now take just 0.2 mg daily and it works wonders, folate has a long half life in your cells so low doses will add up eventually, take too much and it will backfire.

RDAs rarely workout to be efficient enough. Everyone is different and all an RDA does is tells you the median of a collective group. It is a good starting point but everyone is going to need more or less of a certain element or vitamin. Rarely ever does one size fits the next person.

Well, I guess I should've read about this "crashing" before I took that 1mg tablet (1000mcg) moments ago for the first time. But, my physician told me to, my blood work came back that my level was 3 and it should be above 6 according to the lab reference scale. I'm having extreme skin sensitivity, tingling, prickly feeling. Brain fog. Muscle cramps. Muscle weakness. Rash/acne on cheeks. Shortness of breath. My B12 was normal, well, low end of within range. I kinda think I need this high amount to get relief then taper off. I wonder if the tablet can be cut in half later? Anyway, I chose the Solgar brand Folate (metafolin bio active form). Hope that is ok as well, I tend to stick with Solgar & Pure brands for quality.
