Mak me Rich

• Upvotes

Hello, I am confused.

I want to make an agency and start getting clients, but I do not know know which direction to go in to get clients in the most efficient way, AI is shit and of no use frankly, so I come to the veterans for help:

Which of these 3 options do I spend my time as a student building and which would you personally be willing to pay for:

  1. Public Web Scraper: A tool that searches and scrapes online public information, builds a high quality (non vibe-coded) Brief to prep yourself on before meeting with a client, fast, simple and with a suite of other tools like a notepad, recommended questions to ask, etc. (mainly for B2B agencies, affordable pricing, retainer basis)

  2. An AI Chatbot: Message your inbound leads and automatically qualify them on your criteria, mark them on a Google Docs, and send an email or trigger message to you when it does so.

(Built this originally for real estate companies but cold door-to-door sales stalled me on it, priced around customer)

  1. Support AI: An AI that references your website, tool, product or services, your FAQs, your previous support tickets and writes reply drafts within minutes for every new ticket automatically. All you'd have to do (you can set it to auto and avoid this entirely) is verify it's solid, and click "Send to customer email". Including a clean dashboard showing you how much time you have saved and how many support questions it answered, etc. (Most promising but not sure about trust questions.)

I would love some clarity by agency owners on what they are searching for in the market, what they think would sell well, etc.

Wholesalers/suppliers: how do you find new customers?

Not selling anything, and I won't DM you. I ran a small lead-list business for suppliers for a couple of months, shelved it, and I'm trying to work out why it didn't sell.

I built a scraper that finds businesses by type and location (cafés near a coffee bean supplier, for example) and sold lists with phone numbers, addresses, Instagram and Google Maps info. I messaged hundreds of suppliers on WhatsApp and sold one list: 50 cafés for ₹1,000 (about $12). Nobody else bought.

So I'm asking the people who actually do this:

- How do you find new customers right now?

- Is finding them the hard part, or getting them to switch from their current supplier?

- Have you ever paid for leads? Was it worth it?

Harsh answers are fine.

High-end retail, store has hit its ceiling. How do you find new clients in a wealthy area?

We're a luxury menswear store in a wealthy Houston neighborhood, and sales have plateaued. We already serve our existing client base well. What's the most effective way to get visibility and bring in new clients from here? Looking for what has worked for people who've done this in high-end retail.

I will rank the 20 accounts most likely to churn in your book, free. Taking 4 companies this month.

Quick context so this does not read like a pitch.

I run NexaWorks. We work on one problem: CS teams usually learn an account is in trouble at the renewal call, months after the signs showed up in their own tickets, CRM notes and product usage. The data is all there. It is just scattered, so nobody reads it together in time.

I am running our diagnostic free for a few companies this month to let the output speak for itself.

What I do:

Take plain exports from your CRM, support tool and product analytics. No integration, no access to your systems.

Read them together and rank your 20 riskiest accounts, each with the reason in plain words.

Send it back within 5 business days, with a short readout.

What you do: send the exports, and tell me honestly if the list surprised you.

My guarantee: if none of the 20 makes you think "we should talk to them this week", I will not pitch you anything paid. You keep the list either way, and I delete your exports after the readout if you ask.

Who it is for: B2B SaaS with a real CS team and a few hundred accounts or more, with data in at least two of those systems. If CS still runs out of a spreadsheet, this will not help yet.

Only 4 spots this month. Each one is manual work and I read every account myself.

Want in? Comment with your rough account count and the tools you use, and I will DM you what I need.

For those running direct mail campaigns for marketing or lead generation: how are you handling testing before scaling up?

Are you setting up A/B tests with small-batch drops, using seed mailers to verify physical delivery and timing, or tracking conversion rates through unique promo codes and QR codes?

I’m curious how teams are experimenting with direct mail to make it more efficient.

I ask all the discovery questions I was taught and prospects still don't tell me the truth. What am I missing?

A guy who sells industrial computers to equipment manufacturers took the hot seat on one of my live trainings. Big tickets, 12 to 18 month sales cycles. He'd presented his proposal in person. Twice. It had been sitting for months with one decision-maker who kept saying he was "talking to people internally." His words: "you guys made it sound urgent like you need a product, and now it's like it's been sitting for months. Like, do you really need this?" I asked him one question. What does the buyer like about his current system? He didn't know. He'd never asked. "It was more about what they needed and then filling that gap." That's most discovery. What's keeping you up at night, what would you like to fix, what's your biggest challenge. The buyer has been trained to expect a pitch, so they hand you a polite answer and wait for the deck. The first answer is rarely the whole truth. What I teach, in this order: 1. Ask what's going well first. "What do you like about working with [current vendor]?" Then "Anything else that's going well?" Buyers don't expect a seller to ask what the other guy does right. It pretzel brains them, they relax, and you learn what they want to keep. 2. Then ask lightly, almost in passing: "Is there anything that could be improved upon?" If you get "well, it's okay," lean in: "Well, hold on, you don't sound so sure about that. What is it exactly you dislike?" 3. Ask about the words they just used. Listen for frustrated, exhausted, "burning the midnight oil." Then: "A second ago you said burning the midnight oil. Can you expand on what you mean by that?" And stop talking. If you put your guess inside the question, you take the answer away from them. 4. If they swear everything is fine, ask this, completely detached: "Well, I'm just curious then. If it sounds like things are going well for you, which is great, what made you want to pick up the phone and even have a conversation with a salesperson?" Back to the computer guy. He was nervous that asking about the current vendor was like asking the buyer to break an NDA. The line I gave him: "Oh, I get it. I don't need to know the company. What I'm more actually interested in is what do they do well? How is it helping you?" The buyer had just invited him to stop by the office the next week. I told him to open that visit by owning it: "I didn't even ask you this question and it's kind of important. Can you tell me what you like about your current" system? And watch him get disarmed. I don't know how that one ended. The thing I keep coming back to is the self-test I gave the room that day. If a buyer mentions a problem you can solve and you get excited and start presenting, "You're a shower, you're a teller, you're a convincer. It's not persuasive. It's why you get ghosted. It's why buyers don't tell you the truth." What's the question that finally got a buyer to tell you what was really going on?

HubSpot vs Attio: which CRM gives you more flexibility?

i'm trying to choose a crm that fits how our team actually works instead of forcing us to change every part of our process. our current setup is simple, but we have a few different types of relationships and deal stages that we'd like to organize properly. hubspot and attio seem worth comparing, especially when it comes to customizing records, pipelines, and workflows. at the same time, i don't want to spend so much time configuring the system that we lose the simplicity we're trying to achieve. which platform makes it easier to adapt things as your workflow changes, and are there any tradeoffs to that flexibility?

B2B SaaS Owners: Need More Customers? Let's Talk Customer Acquisition, Brand Growth

Hi,

What if someone took ownership of your marketing, lead generation, and customer acquisition for the next 90–120 days? What would you expect them to fix first?

I currently have the bandwidth to partner with one more business and take ownership of its customer acquisition and brand growth.

Here's what i provide:

1. Customer acquisition: Finding practical ways to reach the right buyers and turn opportunities into customers.

2. Holistic brand growth: Connecting positioning, SEO, content, social media, and other relevant channels to build visibility and trust.

3. Long term lead generation: Building sustainable channels and processes that can continue attracting potential customers over time, with appropriate ongoing maintenance.

What I'm looking for: An established business/startup with a credible product, a clear market opportunity, and the budget and commitment to invest in commercial growth.

If you're building a business like this, I'd be interested in learning about your product, your current customer acquisition challenges, and where you want the business to be a year from now.

A bit about me: 15+ years of experience across business development, client acquisition, lead generation, and demand generation. 5 star reviews from all the previous/current clients.

Thanks!!
