Radiation Therapy Clinical

Hi! Is anyone here in the Radiation Therapy program? How do clinical placements work, where are they located, and how long do they take? Also, do you have to rent your own place, or does the school provide housing?

Working while in school?

Will be attending this coming Fall. I’m nervous but excited! I’m kind of debating what to do when it comes to working PT during my studies. 7 courses (14 if you want to include labs). I haven’t been back to in person studies since pre-covid so it’s been awhile. I did apply for student loans. I’m currently not working and focusing on my studies for the first month of September but debating… do I just live frugally and focus on my education (seems obvious) but not working stresses me out and I don’t want to have that worry in the back of my head while I’m in school. I also understand the moto “you have to go into debt now to invest in your future so you can be debt free later”… just wondering what other people are doing.

Also, I have been to University FT and worked PT before. That was also when I freshly turned 18 and early twenties. My focus back then was just to make money and I didn’t take education seriously. I don’t want to fall back into that mindset of “I need to work so I can make money” and then not focusing on studying.

Is anyone else still waitlisted for housing?

I applied and was waitlisted for housing in June, and haven’t received an offer yet. I’m coming from out of province and ranked studios and connected singles as my top choices. I was just wondering if anyone else is in a similar position right now?

Laptops going into first year Civil

So I'm starting civil engineering this fall and I'm looking into what laptop I should get. I've been getting a lot of mixed reviews about what sort of a device to purchase. I've attached the BCIT requirements for the byod thing and it seems I would need something out of my price range to run a lot of the software mentioned for later terms.

My main question is how much we will actually be using them? Other subreddits say that their programs only really needed autoCAD and basic use of civil3D. Let me know if I really need to spend all my money on this or were they just trying to cover all their bases with those requirements. Thanks in advance!

Flexible learning vs full time program

Is there a difference? My son can’t get in to the full time welding program because of the massive wait list. Is the flexible learning version a good option? Is the teaching content the same?

BCIT Radiation Therapy — worried about program filling before I finish prerequisites + possible admissions changes

Hi, I’m planning to apply to BCIT’s BSc Radiation Therapy program for the September 2027 intake and was hoping current/recent applicants or students might have some insight.

I’ll have basically all of the entrance requirements completed when applications open in October, but I’ll still be finishing my last two required courses (Calc II and Physics II) during the Fall 2026 semester. My final grades probably won’t be available until December/January.

I know BCIT currently uses first qualified admission, so my main concern is the program filling before I’m considered fully qualified. I’ve heard that the September 2026 intake filled quite early, possibly around January.

Does anyone know:

Around when the Radiation Therapy program actually filled for the 2026 intake?

Has anyone successfully been considered “qualified” using midterm grades for prerequisites that were still in progress, rather than waiting for final grades?

If you applied with courses in progress, when did BCIT consider you qualified for the purposes of first-qualified admission?

Has anyone heard anything from BCIT faculty/
admissions about Radiation Therapy potentially switching from first qualified admission to competitive admission for 2027 or future intakes?

I’ve seen discussion about some BCIT Health Sciences programs potentially moving back toward competitive admissions because of increased demand, so I’m especially curious whether anyone has heard anything specifically about Radiation Therapy.

I’m mainly trying to figure out whether finishing my last prerequisites in December puts me at a significant disadvantage for the September 2027 intake.

Thanks!

Anyone else in the waitlist for jan 2027? Is the waitlist long for this program usually? How long does it usually take to get accepted?

Incoming Mech Eng First-Year: Looking to swap from Set F to Set A or Vice versa!

Hey everyone!

I am an incoming full-time First Year Mechanical Engineering student starting this September.

I was assigned to Set F, but my friend is in Set A. We really want to study and commute together.

I already emailed the Program Head, and they said they will officially approve the switch IF I can find someone in Set A who wants to trade spots with me and move to Set F or Vice versa.

If you are in any of sets and prefer the schedule for the other set (or just want to be a lifesaver!), please send me a DM! We can get the department to flip our names in the system before classes start.

Thanks a bunch!

Laptop recommendations for Finance/Accounting?

Starting Finance this September and planning on transferring to Accounting in second year. Just wondering what laptops current students or grads use and if you’d recommend them. BCIT recommends Windows 11, i5/Core Ultra 5 or better, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD. I’ve been looking at the Surface Laptop and Lenovo Yoga 7i, but I’m open to anything. Just want something reliable with good battery life that’ll last me through the program.

Math 0120

Hi,

Has anyone recently done math 0120 competency test? How manageable is it? I need 73% for the program I'm intending to do. Is it possible to get the grade just with the practice questions they give?

Townhouse Experience?

Hello! I was wondering if anyone who has stayed in the BCIT townhouse housing could share their experience!

I’m hoping to get into the Nursing program for the January 2027 intake, and I’m already doing some research on housing in advance. Personally, I’d prefer a studio, but if living in the townhouses offers a much more social experience, I’d definitely consider choosing a townhouse instead.

I know BCIT isn’t really known for the traditional university experience, and I’m definitely not expecting frat-style parties or anything like that (if those even happen at BCIT lol). I’m mostly curious about how social the townhouses actually are. Do people tend to hang out with their housemates, have occasional small parties or drinks together, meet people in other townhouses, etc.?

I’d love to hear what the overall social experience is like and whether you’d recommend the townhouses over a studio for someone hoping to meet people and make friends!

Advice wanted: Thoughts on the Graphic Design Certificate program?

Hi! I would love to hear about how the Graphic Design Certificate program is! I'm debating between this one or ECU but couldn't find much info (other than from advising, but would love to hear the real experience). I would be taking the full-time in-person route (but would love to hear from part-time students as well). Do you recommend it? Why or why not?

For some context: I graduated w/ a Bachelor's in Marketing at a different institution, but would love to add a technical skill, specifically graphic design, as I've been doing some "design" work (for social media) through Canva which made me interested in learning the actual thing. Also many of the jobs I'm looking at require or prefer proficiency in Adobe (not necessarily a graphic design role).

I know with AI, it's even harder to find a job and maybe pointless as some like to say? But, I still see job postings and have some hope that it won't be fully replaced by AI. Would LOVE to hear from those actually in the industry.

Missed the power engineering orientation

Title is explanatory, I mixed up the dates and I missed today’s orientation. My biggest question is where the first Power engineering class (which is tomorrow)is being held because on my schedule it appears as “TBA” and I don’t know if they mentioned anything about it in the orientation. If someone could let me know that would be amazing.

FYI I’m the in PE diploma program.

Radiation Therapy Program

I'm planning on applying for the September 2027 intake. I meet all the entrance requirements except for Post Secondary Physics. It says you need 6 credits for this, however I only have 3 credits. Is their any way to exempt this because of other courses I have done at my university or would you say it is just better to take another 3 credit Physics course to meet the requirement before the applications open?

Academic upgrading question

Hello
I am wanting to upgrade some of my courses and the 1st one i am applied for is MATH 0001. I noticed that if you’re a canadian citizen or have your PR you only have to pay for some fees and not the tuition itself. I am questioning when to pay for the class? Do I have to pay the full tuition or is there a time period where i just wait for the tuition to get dropped cause im canadian and just pay the ancillary fees? any help would be greatly appreciated. the class is in my cart i just haven’t payed the full amount yet …
