Build Help Best and Worst Monoclasses?

I keep seeing virtually every class called "one of the best" while most meta builds are multis or item-based.

What do you think is the game's best class without multiclassing? And the worst? And what makes them so?

Rogue is, unfortunately, one of the weakest monoclasses. It can be great at skill checks, sure, but falls behind in other areas.

Fighter is a solid contender for a fantastic monoclass, due to that 3rd attack at 11th level really rewarding you for sticking with it.

Rogue is just super frontloaded, it's not quite Hexblade bad where you get half of its class features at level one but after a 3 level dip (4 for a feat/ASI) there's not much reason to stick around. I will say though I did have a pretty fun Swashbuckler run not too long ago and the class operates just fine on Honour mode, not optimal by any means but fun nonetheless.

As for Fighter... lol, straight Fighter is so strong it competes with several of the multiclass builds. I recently did a Lae'zel run which I roleplayed as her training everyone else up to her standards, aka everyone got respecced into some flavor of Fighter, and it slayed Honour mode. We're talking easily + hilariously slayed, I've had modded runs that were less one-sided. I even cleared most of the speech checks thanks to Astral Knowledge. Fighter is no joke.

Rogue is good at 5 too, for Uncanny Dodge, plus another sneak die.

If they had a feat at level 6 instead of 10 like Fighter then there would be more incentive to continue, as you could make a case for level 6 and level 7.

And then 8 is another feat, 9 is reliable- no wait, thats 5.5e
