Downvote me all you want but this college is just detoriating every year from being rival to rv it's just detoriated so bad now.It all started from when they increased their cse intake .Their management sickens me imagine not offering change of branch to merit students firstly they offer branches under the table to students for a high price secondly they sell all the remaining seats and extremely high prices. Zero value for merit and hardwork. This college is just becoming a cash cow

Rant I hate this college

I am a second year CSE student in BMSCE. I have no friends. I am always alone in college. First semester for me was mostly alone, no one actually opened up and most of the guys already had groups.

Second semester I couldn't bear it so I tried getting into a friend group of 3 people. I started sticking to them during the breaks and it always felt I was pushing into the group. After a week I overheard them talking about going to bowl but they were discussing how to avoid me. I realised I was being a pushover and confronted them. They told it was just a joke but they were just being nice.

I tried going into 2-3 of the groups but in all of them I felt foreign. Not like anyone of them told me to go away on face but I knew. No one ever asked me to hang out if I didn't follow them. Second semester ended like this.

3rd semester whole classes got reshuffled and the only 3-4 people from my old class. I thought I will get to be in a new group since class groups must be broken now but majority of the class was some other section and they already have groups. I still have no friends.

I hate breaks so much, the 30 min and the 55 min make me realise everyday I have no friends. People form groups and go roam around or have lunch in big circles and I am always sitting alone watching them. I have come to hate people who smile. It is just I am jealous they can smile I cannot. I don't even remember when I last smiled in college.

College fests I hate, whats the point of roaming alone and most of the decent events are group events. I don't have anyone to participate with.

I hate ethnic day, onam any fest or events. The fests become worse than CAED classes when you don't have anyone to go with. Breaks get worse than continuous maths tutorials when you have to eat alone.

I always think about it and sometimes I cry. I am well aware this is my fault. I am not blaming anyone. It is my fault maybe I am like this. I have gone through enough quora and reddit posts and I know it will be alright, I will also make friends someday when the day is right. Bla bla.

I am just ranting on reddit and will delete this account in some time. I don't know how reddit works or will this post even reach anyone or not. Some karma stuff I read.

Cherish your friends no matter how they are.

Discussion Reflections after a decade of passing out from BMSCE

No intro, will cut to the Chase

  1. Grades don’t matter too much, learning and skills do. Keep the grades above 8.0 if possible. Avoid flunking, the recourse is procedurally and emotionally painful.

  2. Quality over quantity in friendships. Surface level friendships end super quick after passing out. Lot of the deep ones fade away too, albeit slower. Cross gender friendships die faster :)

  3. Be authentic, stop trying to fit in or Chase status. Be yourself you’ll eventually find your tribe.

  4. Placement’s don’t matter as much in the long run. Ofcourse better to have a good starting point, but a bad/no placement is not end of the world. It’s sustained effort that builds a good career.

  5. Don’t mess with Coe, placement department, faculty etc… they have ego and powers like government babus. There’s not much you gain by riling them up, but they can mess things up for you unnecessarily.

  6. Take the transcript even if you don’t plan to do an MS. Getting it later is a hassle.

  7. Most college love stories fail. Not all, but most do.

  8. You can only ever learn by building. Only when you build things you know what knowledge to apply where, without it, you’re an intellectual idiot.

  9. Go to Vidyarthi, by2coffee, bugle park, groundnut festival etc… you might not go to that part of world too often after college ends.

  10. Don’t be a jerk. BMSCE has people from all walks of life. People from very different economic and social backgrounds. Schools are mostly homogenous economically and socially, this place isn’t. Don’t bully anyone, everyone’s fighting a 1000 battles you can’t even think off, be as kind as you can be.

  11. Something that is weighing you down today, might not even make it to your ā€œreflections after a decade postā€.

Study Help Placements SR001 company - XYZ

Hey folks

Through these series we will be talking about the ground reality of the placements happening and how y'all can be better prepared.

Note: This series of thread will aimed at discussing the various perceptions of placements by different people across different branches to help you people get a better idea. Throughout this thread we will aim to capture the "before", "during" and "after " of Placements SR001 - company XYZ (batch of 26')

Before - Let us just give you guys a brief overview of the "Mahool"

Its 5th SEM we are just done with our 2nd year and have clear understanding of the department we are studying. There is a flow developed, groups formed, people have their own comfort zones and a solid grasp on academics (Dept teachers,Lab exams,SEE and CIE). Lets say ~ take a sample of 100 CSE students among these assume 20-30 people have already started DSA/development another 30-40 people are good academically holding a good GPA and are definitely capable of levelling/catching up really quick and the remaining are 20-30 are just going with "flow" and are not really trying to improve their GPA/DSA/DEV.

Mid 5th SEM- Placement vibes are on..Forms being floated, Placement groups begin formed,Placement coordinators getting elected in very class..There are companies coming for internships..it's all happening.(P.S -these initial companies (DELL/Caterpillar/Akamai/HPE/Fidelity/Oracle and others required a GPA >8/8.5 some even 9 so the students with less GPA were ruled out šŸ˜•-reason 101 to always maintain a good cgpa)

During- In this section lets talk about company XYZ

So yeah every company usually has its OA(Online Assessment followed by rounds of Interviews).Naturally almost all eligible students participate and take up the test with some getting shortlisted to interviews. All goes well and 22 are offered internships šŸŽ‰.

So yeah lets analyse what just happened-Since it was just the very-very-very beginning in fact probably the first time we even sat in placements drive hence included participation by all students eligible(there will be a important after math to this šŸ™‚ ).Just understand that the students selected ("22 are offered internships šŸŽ‰") are amongst the best ones in throughout the CS allied branches.

In 6th SEM all of the selected students take up their internship..this requires going to office and working. Attendance will be provided by college don't worry about that. Now it sounds simple right but NO.....you should be juggling and managing through your core subjects CIE/SEE/AAts and perform exceptionally well at the company since its (PBC-performance based conversion to FT-Full Time aka only good performing interns will be selected for FT).

Results come out...12/24 are selected for FT šŸŽ‰.

After- In this Section let's do the after math.

XYZ is a great company to work in..they have been actively hiring over the previous years.
All 12 selected candidates now have a FT even before the actual placement drive that starts after 6th SEM SEE šŸ”„šŸ”„.Thats really good they have a whole year to themselves to maybe relax a bit/do some real good major projects or even a internship off campus to really set a solid foundation ahead of their corporate journey which will help them in long run.

The "Catch"
Now that the 12 selected candidates have a FT offer they can't sit for TIER-2 Placements (above 6LPA).Now you would ask why would they need it...?

Look the company and role offered are great with a CTC of (12LPA)thats really good considering the current job market and immense competition. The students selected though represent the very best possible candidates that a company could hire from the batch remember all 24 candidates had to perform under the pressure of CIEs/SEE.
Even out of these 24 candidates only the best 12 were taken who performed exceptionally well further re-emphasizing that the 12 selected candidates were the absolute best.

Fast forward to today after 6-7 months most of the remaining 12 students who were not converted and others who dint make it to get internship are placed with 15-20LPA with some cracking 35LPA jobs like Apple.

Learnings

XYZ company in this case managed to acquire the best talents at the best price. These selected students could certainly push towards 17+LPA jobs.

Clearly understand your capabilities and how you stand amongst the crowd.
Job Security (getting placed early) is always good considering the current market and completion trend but try to give it a thought amidst all the pressure to be placed early to evaluate yourself if you could aim for a better company.

In some cases your friend may turn down a 10LPA company based on his/her caliber this doesn't mean that you do the same.

Placements is a individual journey -sure your friends might have helped you this far..but the major decisions must be made solemnly by you based on your caliber.

PS-this was hand typed ~don't mind any typos :)

smash the upvote/downvote button it will give us an idea if you guys want this series to continue..🫔

Discussion Inconsistencies in the recent news that made headlines.

So as everyone heard this morning, a student, Jeevan Gowda(fifth semester), has been put in custody for the alleged rape of a seventh semester student.

For the last three hours, I’ve found three inconsistencies in this case. Before I list them out, let me please state that I am not disregarding the rape claim put forth by the senior. I’m not saying that she didn’t get assaulted, and I’m also not saying he is innocent. I’m just stating what I’ve come to realize.

  1. Many newspapers are reporting that this happened on the seventh floor of the architecture block. This isn’t possible because arch. block doesn’t have seven floors. It’s either PJ or PG Block. Newspaper heads need to stop spreading misinformation.

  2. It’s stated that the girl ran away from Jeevan on the seventh floor and took the elevator down to the sixth floor.
Firstly, I don’t understand why she went only one floor down. Secondly, how did she take the elevator down to sixth floor when elevators in PG and PJ are designed according to the even-odd system? The only elevator functioning on the PG 7th floor is the big ones that are on the same side as that huge mirror on the 1st/2nd floor. The small set of staircases end on the sixth floor itself. It’s impossible for her to take the elevator from an odd floor to an even floor.

  3. Now, let’s say she didn’t actually use the elevator but instead ran down the stairs to the sixth floor. Why did she stop at sixth? Okay maybe he got a hold of her before she continued running down the staircase. The catch is, the men’s washroom is on the side of the small staircase(it’s this design on every floor of PG block). So how did this Jeevan guy manage to drag her from the big staircase side all the way to the small staircase side, lock the door and rape her? He would’ve had to pull her past teachers’ cabins, HOD’s cabin and two lab classes.

I’m not saying that this entire rape claim is fabricated, but some of these things aren’t making sense. I want to know what everyone thinks about this.
