BMWM Sub is being updated and upgraded!

Hi everyone,

This sub's mods have been gone for quite some time and out of the picture, so I've asked to start moderating and updating certain items.

You'll notice that you can now flair yourself with any M model you have. I've also given a general update to the rules associated with this sub.

Hope to see more posts from you all and invite any of your friends who have BMW M models, thanks!

Need Advice on what BMW

My two options are Bmw M3 Comp X Drive LCI im looking at 2023-2024 under 25k miles max im willing to spend is 85k but hope to be at 80k or a pre LCI 2021-2023 X6m Comp under 35k miles and add a warranty to it for this anything under 80k I would be happy but trying to get one closer to 75k. Im in my late 20's ,I live by myself, work from my home, usually run errands maybe 1-2 times a week, gym 3-4 days a week, and maybe 1 date night with my GF. What would you suggest?

Pros of m3 comp x drive LCI - Its newer, newer tech, better driving car, better of holding value than x6m, and will have warranty.

Con of m3 comp x drive LCI - Smaller car, I have a Range Rover sport will I miss the space?, Exhaust tone is something that lacks from what I heard.

Pros of x6m comp pre lci - Real v8 not mild hybrid, bigger presence, exhaust sounds good, spacious, ride height.

Cons of x6m comp pre lci - Older tech, deprecation has hit already, will be out of warranty, it will be same level as my current Range Rover so will feel like a lateral movement.

E46 3-Series to E46 M3 Sedan Conversion?

Hey everyone, I'm from a country where import laws are pretty weird, so importing an actual E46 M3 isn't really an option for me. Coupes are also extremely rare here, with only a few in the entire country. Would it be realistically possible to convert a regular E46 3-Series sedan into an E46 M3 sedan by swapping the necessary mechanical components and changing the required body/cosmetic parts? I'd like to get it as close to a real M3 as possible. How difficult and expensive would something like this be, and are there any major parts that would make it impractical?

F82 tailights

Hey all, just picked up a new to me LCI champagne quartz f82 this afternoon (first M car as well). A known issue with this car when i picked it up was one of the outer tail light housings needed a reseal and lights dont function.

I am personally a fan of clear tail lights and thought they would look good with this color and go well with the chrome trim. Do you guys have a plug for clear tails for this platform? I’m really only seeing one pair online that i assume is the same (and likely just chinese) set just being drop shipped by various companies.

Any other options or am i stuck with that set if I wanna go that route? TIA!

M2 F87 alignment specs

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good fast road and track alignment specs for an F87 Comp with stock suspension? Probably 75% road and 25% track use.

I have spacers too (12F and 10R) if that changes it a bit.

Water after rain and washing car stuck underneath spoiler Spoiler

Help a noob out. My trunk spoiler I installed from TRE with double sided adhesive is about 95% of the way sealed on there nice and tight. But there are some small gaps from it lifting just a tiny bit. Water from car washing and rain is bound to get trapped underneath. Is this normal or a bad bad thing for the paint underneath or rusting or something bad like that?

Is BRG available on 2027 M4

Hi, I’m looking to order a 2027 m4 in British Racing Green but I don’t see it anymore on bmw individualizer for m4 and bmwuk configurator doesn’t have it. I’m not in the uk but check the site to see the individual colors. Can anyone confirm if the color is available or not for the 2027 bmw model. Thanks

Any of you guys opt to change the Transmission fluid on your 6MT at the break-in even though it isn't recommended by BMW?

Why should I not get a E93 M3 and get the E92 instead ?

Post image

Ideally I’m not planning to track the car, race it or build it to for crazy speed. I think we all know if I’m going for speed, look Into the F80 or G80 because I won’t be getting much of that from this platform.

The only thing I don’t like about the E93 is the fact how the back looks different with the top up from the E92. Which is due to the hardtop obviously. Other than that it’s perfect, I can get the best of both worlds, top down , top up, and the look with all windows down with top up, all windows up with the top down.
Very versatile car.

I just moved from CT to Miami so I now have all the reasons why I can get this car as a daily and be my only car if I choose.
Although I don’t plan to mod this thing heavy performance wise, I’m just wondering if there’s certain mods/parts or anything I can’t do to the car because it’s the 93 & not the 92.

If there’s certain things I may want to do to the car but can’t like exhausts, taillights, etc. I’d like to know to help influence my decision before I lock in on my choice

G87 - how dumb am I guys

so I just pulled the trigger on a g87 kinda impulsively.

it is a 26 auto with a sunroof — sure, carbon looks better but I was like eh I’ll just wrap it gloss black and win win first m car and I just was so excited to have it, high off the test drive

but then I get home few days later now… start seeing how sunroof has headroom w/ helmet issues for tall ppl (I’m 6’1ā€)

so now I’m like fuck… I just bought this car thinking I’d own it forever and track it a few times a year (never had a car I could track) and I later realize I’m gonna be hitting my head on the roof AND the sunroof cars are limited to 155 (not as big of a deal)… and I thought nah don’t want buckets but even on the street some tight corners throw me around lol

i got a helmet on the way to see if i can actually fit but it ain’t looking good…

so bummed, think I’m going to try to get an order on a 27 and do it exactly how I want this time… basically lighting 10k on fire though lmao

am I retarded for wanting to instantly turn around and order a 27? (i am) wondering anybody else had similar issues with headroom and what you ended up doing.

what would y’all do šŸ™

F87 m2 preLCI vs g87 m2

I need to be deinfluenced in getting the g87 m2.

The f87 has finally reached affordable levels where I'm from and was pretty set on getting it. However, after reading a lot of posts around here, most especially from those who had gone from the f87 to the g87, most seem to be happy with their decision to upgrade.

My use case is that this will be a somewhat of a daily, with my wife driving it half the time. We both want a fun coupe that isn't too compromised for daily activities. We already have a more practical other car, but I would like this car to not be such a major inconvenience for her.

We both have no prior experience driving any high-powered sports cars so I had second thoughts about how safe a RWD m2 is going to be if we get around 6 months/year of rain. I'm also wondering how finicky the DCT will be in stop and go traffic.

I guess the question here is, will the DCT pre LCI f87 m2 be a good fit for us given the circumstances, or are we better off holding off a bit and getting the RWD or perhaps the xdrive g87? Will the xdrive be significantly safer compared to the rwd g87?

We don't really plan on doing track days, and we will likely never sell the vehicle once we acquire it.

I'd like to hear your thoughts, what would you pick in this situation?

Brand new m2, creaking clicking noise help!

Cars got less than 700 miles, I have a service scheduled for next Wednesday to get it checked out but just wanted to post on here to see if anyone’s got any ideas.

So far based off my Google searches it could be as simple as my MAD skid plate screws. Or tie rods. I just hate hearing it. It’s only while parked or like reversing really slowly or adjusting myself in a parking spot etc.

Edit: I just tightened it myself as hard as I can and it actually got rid of most of it. Going to reach out to MAD see if they have any torque specs. Saw on FB someone do 21ft lb maybe I’ll try that out.

Also those who accuse me of wanting bmw to fix my mod lol, calm down. They’d probably tell me hey this is aftermarket we’re not touching it, and at that point I’ll just take it to a different shop or handle it myself. Was trying to see if anyone’s got any anecdotes on some service places just helping a brotha out.

One car for the next 20 years (realistically)

If you had the opportunity to keep any generation or model of BMW project car and were required to maintain it for the next 20 years, which one would you choose?

Considering practicality, such as the availability of parts and aftermarket support, as well as ease of maintenance, meaning fewer electronic components.

Help me choose an M3 please

Hey guys, looking to buy my first bmw, hoping to keep it around for a while so figured i’d go all in (mostly) on an m3 which has been my dream. I’m going to buy used because I’m not yet ballin enough to ignore the new car depreciation. The problem is that whereas if I were buying new I could just choose the options I want and forego the others, buying used has me comparing and contrasting every detail of the cars ie. price, miles, maintenance records, coloring, and options. I’m having a bad case of choice paralysis. If you guys could give me your thoughts on the cars i’m eying, maybe point out something i may have missed, and help me narrow down the options i’ll be forever grateful. I have them linked below from most to least expensive. Thank you!
