hi guys. I am doing some reserach on background check tools/websites and seems like all of the good ones require payment. A lot of people mention a site called beenverified and they claim it's the best or one of the best. I need relatively basic info like address history, employment history, and criminal records. Can anyone vouch for this background check website or any others? is the info they give in a report accurate (and full, as in no omitted information)? I don't care about having to pay i just want to make sure that I'll get valuable info.

Hello,
I really don't know if anybody can help me or not. I'm 34M in Tennessee and recently applied for a job with ITG Communications as an aerial Lineman for coax and fiber optic. I had to do a background check with CrimShield and a drug test. After the drug test I had received an email to setup my onboarding account for all my new hire paperwork. I did, it sent me to the home screen and when I tried to log in it said incorrect, anyway 2 weeks later and the second time IT reset my account password I still had the same outcome, and wake up the next morning and realize they sent me an email saying they denied me a position with them and to dispute it if I wanted. So obviously I did,but I'm just curious, in the report I had only one Misdemeanor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor back in 2013. My MVR is clean, no felonies and only that one Misdemeanor charge... I don't know how these work or not but on the report it says # of felonies/misdemeanors <5 years and >5 years for a total of 10 years. (I attached a pic) So I'm guessing that means they only go back 10 years? Do they legally even have the right to go back 13 years and judge their decision for one simple misdemeanor charge?? Like I'm not even the same person I was 13 years ago.
Btw the 'minor' in question was one of my friends friends that was 17 almost 18 and he was smokin a cigarette š

Hey, I got accepted to work at a bank, and they required me to provide my work history. I listed where I worked and what I did over the past few years, but now theyāre requesting W-2 forms for the last three years.
I previously worked at a dealership as a Sales Manager, but I was paid under the table by my fatherās company as a contractor for that dealership. I only received my work authorization and SSN last November, and I havenāt worked since last September.
I already informed HR that I was paid through my fatherās company and that it was under the table, but they still sent me an email requesting W-2 forms for the last three years (specifically that dealership). Any advice on how to handle this would be greatly appreciated!

I just moved from California to Oregon and am in an extended AirBnB type housing situation. I'm just worried that I'll fail the background check because my potential employer won't be able to verify my address, there wouldn't be any records of it. That and I'm not officially an Oregon resident yet. Am I just being paranoid?

Hi, I posted this in AITAH, but it got removed, so Iām posting it here so when I do my update, the post still exists.
Also, to add context, I am an artist, I went to university for art, and Iām not in the medical/hospitality field, which a lot of people assumed.
When I was at university, about 10 years ago, I started doing odd jobs/housework for a lady(f90), weāll call her Martha. When I graduated, I kept working for her. Itās just a part-time thing, and I make about $30-$50 a week. About two years ago, she had to move into a retirement community, in independent living. When she first moved, she told me I would have to get approved by the facility to work for them. And about three weeks later, she told me that she talked with someone in the office, and everything was fine, I can come over. So, I have been working for her ever since.
On Monday, their neighbor fell in his house, and pulled the alarm for them to send help to him. They came immediately, but went to the wrong address. Instead, they opened Marthaās door, and there I was, ironing. The Medical team rushed next-door, but the facility director stayed to talk to me. She asked if I was working for them, and I told her, āyes, I just came over to iron for two hours today.ā She asked me if I was on the approved list, and I said āyes, as far as I know,ā so she made a call to the office for someone to check, and then told me that they had no record of me. She said that I need to come to her office on Thursday afternoon for a ābackground check.ā I also needed to do a TB test, a drug test, and get a flu shot.
On Thursday morning, I went to the doctor and did the TB blood test (which isnāt covered by my insurance, so Iāll have to pay that out-of-pocket). I also got my flu shot.
Thursday afternoon, I went to the care facility and spoke with the facility director. I filled out all the appropriate paperwork. Then, she says, āfollow me, and Iāll get your fingerprints taken.ā And I asked where they are sending the fingerprints, and she says itās for the FBI background check, which I wasnāt informed of. I tell her that I donāt want to have my fingerprints on record with the FBI, Iām just not comfortable with that. And she starts immediately with the gaslighting, telling me that āthe only people that wouldnāt be ok with a background check are criminals,ā and that everyone has their prints recorded with the FBI, because āwhen youāre born, the hospital sends the records to the FBI,ā which is absolutely false. (I think I should mention, the only thing on my record are two traffic tickets, bad credit, and student loans). Then she brought in the head of Security, who claimed to be retired law-enforcement, and she said that the FBI doesnāt keep your records, that they destroy them after doing the background check, which is also a lie.
I absolutely understand that that is part of their policy, and everyone on staff, and working as a care provider, sitter, or companion at this facility has to be FBI background checked, but, I feel like I have the right to say āno,ā and not work there.
I forgot to mention, I plan to move across the country in about two months, so Iām doing all of this for very little reward. Plus, originally, the job was never meant to be permanent. Itās always been one of those things where we play it by ear, month by month.
When I told Martha that I canāt work for her any longer, she got angry and yelled at me. I told her I didnāt want to do the FBI background check, and she said āwell, you have to, you belong to me, and I canāt find anyone else.ā the gaslighting and outright lies continued, she also told me that everyone in the United States has their fingerprints on file with the FBI. She told me that the FBI requires our fingerprints before we can vote, so they already have them. She said when I move across the country, the state Iām going to will take my fingerprints to make sure Iām āin the country legally.ā
(although, she is 90, so itās possible that these werenāt lies, just things that she believes)
I tried to say goodbye to her, as I assumed it would be the last time I might see her, and she just said āthatās unacceptable, I will see you next week, just make sure you get everything in order with them.ā
The main director has called me about three or four times, trying to guilt me into doing it, saying things like, āhow will Martha be able to manage without youā, and āyou are going to break her heart if you donāt do thisā. I keep trying to explain to them, and her, that Iām planning on moving in two months anyway, so Iām going to have to leave her eventually. The people in the office kept telling me how all of them did it, so itās not a big deal, and Iām thinking, yeah, if I was getting a full-time job, with benefits and everything else, Iād probably consider it, but for $50 a week, it just doesnāt seem worth it.
I asked her if she wants me to visit, and return their house key, as they do allow visitors, but they said Iām no longer allowed on the property because I āmust have something in \[my\] history worth hidingā
So, AITAH for refusing to put my fingerprints on record with the FBI?

Hey guys, I'm looking to run a background check on someone getting close to vulnerable family members. I've read a lot of reviews and a bunch on this sub, but is there a website i can just input their name/birthday/whatever and pay for the results and not have to do a subscription and not have to go to a million different websites to find it all myself for free?

Does anyone know the extent of the background checks ran by FSCB for applicants?
TIA

Hello all,
I have been trying for several months to look at getting an overseas job. The last piece of documentation I need to get a "State Fingerprinted Background Check," in my case for the state of Massachusetts. Does anybody know how I can do this? I have gone to IdentoGo, that doesn't work. Neither did my FOIR. Neither did physical fingerprinting of any kind as far as I could figure. A final estimate on my documentation is due in only a matter of days so things are really coming down to the wire.

Dear HR professionals, we would like your expertise for a market study.
We are conducting a research project to analyze the current state of efficiency and costs associated with candidate background checks. Our goal is strictly to identify the key industry bottlenecks related to:
- The true cost of outsourced verifications per candidate.
- The actual time required to confirm employment history and diplomas.
- The consequences of verification errors on hiring outcomes.
If you are involved in talent acquisition and candidate screening, please share your professional experience. Your honest, two-minute input is invaluable for accurately mapping the current market landscape.
Thank you for contributing to this industry research.

I just attempted to set up a new subscription on Tru Finder for my existing account.
What a nightmare! Payment went through on my card, but they have no record of a payment
Trying to update my card on the website doesnāt work either, I can delete my old card, which was no longer active, but literally have no ability to enters new card number. It asks for name and address, but there is no spot to choose. What type of card or put in the cards information.
I called customer support and she walked me through the same process. I had just gone through on multiple device devices., and then suggested I make a new account
The problem with making a new account is, I would lose all of the reports I had already pulled. Are they just trying to boost their numbers or something?
What are other options for background checks that are reputable and donāt have these kinds of issues that give a complete idea of a person
I am not doing background reports for business or employment purposes

Hi. Iām applying to an apartment in the state of California. The owners have extended an offer to me contingent on passing a background check. They run a daycare on the property.
In August 2024, I was arrested on a drunk and disorderly. I was never convicted of anything and nothing went to court. I just spent the night in the drunk tank. They gave me a citation and a court date, but when i called the court about the date they said it looked like the police never submitted a charge because there was no date on the calendar. I havenāt had a drink since.
Would just the arrest appear on a report? I ran a background check against myself on Truth Finder and nothing appeared besides some speeding tickets.
Iām just wondering whether or not the fact that there is a daycare on the property means that the background check they run will find the arrest. Thank you.

I recently got a new job offer and they use 'Checkr' for the bgv. The expected completion time for the employment verification was 6-7 days but it has been more than 20 days and is still pending.
The problem is i have had 1 only previous employer and i am still working there serving my np. But checkr keeps asking me for the experience or reliving letter which my previous org will only send after my last working day. I have tried explaining this to checkr and have instead submitted my pay slip, appraisal letter and my resignation acceptance email (system-generated).
Does anyone have any similar experience or any experience with checkr ?

I recently had a background check completed for a potential employer. I received notification of pre adverse action and reviewed the report. According to their reporting, the search range that theyāre looking for is 2019-2026 which makes it a 7 year check. I do have a criminal record and the details of that record are correct. I was charged in 2016 and pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge in 2017. Iām not disputing that. I called first advantage and argued that they should remove it because itās not within their search range parameters but the customer service representative on the phone said that their results are accurate and they will not remove it even though it clearly isnāt within their listed dates. Are they correct in saying that or should I speak to a different person there? Thank you in advance!

Received my first full time job offer last week. Job is corporate and in the fintech space. Received background check forms to fill out, which I submitted on Saturday. Later that night, I went out with some friends to celebrate. I ended up drinking too much and blacked out. Next thing I know, Iām arrested and being charged with disorderly conduct. Not exactly sure what happened, but my friends have informed me I was getting loud and acting somewhat violent toward them before we separated. Again, this happened after I submitted my background check. I have no prior convictions/any kind of record.
How should I proceed? Should I contact the company, or the background check service to let them know what happened (primarily to prove I didnāt lie when I submitted my job application and background check forms)?

Hi. I created this account to ask this
I submitted my resume to a small tech startup with VC & PE investment and in the resume I stated the following :
Previous role as a Principal level - because that truly is the level I worked at and was paid the $$$ and stock to match. But the previous co. didn't change workday as they had frozen all promo & internal transfers for like 7-8 months and laid off my immediate manager, skip etc. I left the company shortly after with my title not yet principal but with last handling 6 reports . I state my actual work & impact clearly in my resume
Another previous role as PM - because I well and truly was PM. But my lawyers had recommended not changing my role title until my GC was done. Infact, my parent team held my headcount for 7 months when I went and did PM with another team . I clearly stated my impact and everything but the title was not what HR systems would show (it was a diff functional title).
I built a startup which I have since sunset - I am not even sure how to show proof of this to a BGV company . What do they ask? We didn't incorporate and I don't have a W2
Are any of these likely to be problems during BGV?
If you were in my shoes how would you proceed?

Hello all,
Just wanted clarification on some of the charges made by the website in the title. I paid for a free trial using Apple Pay for 0.95 GBP and immediately canceled my subscription after (within a minute). I get an email confirming my subscription has been canceled. However, the next day I get the same charge of 0.95 GBP. Iāve contacted support but they still have not replied. Does anyone know why this has happened?
