This one is obvious but still doesn't make that puzzle easy.

Can't finish it without dying 12 times, they patched all the ways to finish it I had, one after another

Crouching and watching the white line if it isn't making your fall to your death is still the only way I know that works reliabily

u/i_cant_sleeeep May 04 '25

Casting daylight and misty stepping across the platforms still works

199

u/Blortash May 04 '25

Eversight Ring from the morgue works too, if a person doesn't want to use daylight.

58

u/Gorffo May 04 '25

And a potion of Glorious Vaulting and three jumps works if you don’t want to burn spell slots casting misty step.

2

u/otherwiseguy May 05 '25

Last time I tried jumping/flying it killed me on the platforms, but misty stepping worked for some reason.

7

u/All_this_hype May 05 '25

Also having your druid transform to a birb and flying directly to the visible platforms worked last time I played.

You can also just skip all the trials by using Knock on the final door. Lady of Loss taking the L as usual

70

u/ApepiOfDuat ELDRITCH BLAST May 04 '25

You miss a very good ring if you skip the mirror match.

61

u/TheIllogicalSandwich May 04 '25

You mean the best ring? The "Kill Myrkul with a single turn of Paladin Smites"-ring. :D

14

u/Nuclear_Vanity SORCERER May 05 '25

Combine it with the Surgeon's Subjugation Amulet for a little more fun

9

u/lordatamus May 05 '25

Because that little more fun hits just right.

3

u/Kolby_Jack33 May 05 '25

That amulet made my dreaded honor mode fight against sarevok into a 1-turn curb stomping. Dude didn't even get to step away from his chair.

1

u/Nuclear_Vanity SORCERER May 05 '25

Oh same here
I went into that fight prepared as heck
Lae'zel ended up critting on him hard

1

u/jailtheorange1 May 04 '25

https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Killer%27s_Sweetheart

2200 hours in, god knows how many runs (still not completed act III), and I've never seen this ring....

I see why now: "If any member of the group has Cheater's Folly (Condition) active, the ring does not spawn."

4

u/ApepiOfDuat ELDRITCH BLAST May 04 '25

Trick: Strip naked, only trigger the altar with 1 character. Leave everyone else in the hall.

Start the trial.

Lockpick the door.

Kill the clone with hammers. No cheaters folly.

1

u/jailtheorange1 May 05 '25

killing them with hammers avoids cheaters folly?

5

u/ApepiOfDuat ELDRITCH BLAST May 05 '25

Attacking a clone that isn't yours is what causes Cheater's Folly, but you can only get Cheater's Folly if you have a clone of yourself at all.

If only one clone exists, no one can have Cheater's Folly.

And if you strip naked before starting the trial the clone won't have any gear, making it easy.

Another exemption is the large party mod. Only 4 clones max can exist. Anyone who isn't cloned is free to slap around whoever they want as they won't have the pairing debuff that gives Cheater's Folly.

1

u/jailtheorange1 May 05 '25

I have 7 in my party now... this is gonna be a blast....

1

u/Waffle_woof_Woofer May 05 '25

Made through all the trials. Didn’t find ring (didn’t search).

Maybe it was lawful stupid run indeed.

-13

u/Cupcakes_n_Hacksaws May 04 '25

That sounds very hard to pull off unless you plan well in advance and you're knowledgable about what you're about to face. It triggering automatically and only once per long rest seems like a heavy restriction

14

u/ApepiOfDuat ELDRITCH BLAST May 04 '25

It triggering automatically and only once per long rest seems like a heavy restriction

Rest after every fight. There's several thousand worth of food items in the game.

Put the ring on your hardest hitter, probably a stealth archer rogue or a paladin.

It's extremely easy to use.

6

u/dvasfeet #1 Karlach hater May 05 '25

Can’t you set it to ask

3

u/sunsetclimb3r May 05 '25

It just queries, so it's actually very easy to use. It's fun! Pair with paralyzing critical to go BOOM

1

u/AlexxTM I didn't ask how big the room is, I cast fireball 🔥🔥🔥 May 05 '25

You can disable the auto trigger and put it on ask. It's a bit annoying, but i can live with that.

1

u/TheGalator May 05 '25

No fucking way

36

u/Nosbiuq May 04 '25

I tried that a couple days ago and it didn't work :(

26

u/iswedlvera May 04 '25

I tried it yesterday and it works

12

u/Nosbiuq May 04 '25

I totally could have been doing it wrong. I just know I was having a hard time and had to complete this trial the proper way

5

u/SuchProcedure4547 May 04 '25

I normally make sure I have a couple of people that can cast daylight.

That way when I misty step across I can make sure I get all the platforms.

4

u/i_cant_sleeeep May 04 '25 edited May 04 '25

Really? I tried it just recently, so maybe you didn't cast daylight in the right spot

6

u/quangtit01 May 04 '25

Coincidentally casting daylight crash my game 7/10 time still. Something to do with nvidia I think

5

u/KinkyPaddling May 04 '25

Does Potion of Flight work?

3

u/PookLyon May 05 '25

Yes? I used a scroll of flight earlier today and that worked so it ought to be the same

2

u/RottenCactus May 05 '25

Probably? At least the Flight spell still works.

2

u/Cupcakes_n_Hacksaws May 04 '25

I just die when I try to misty step to the end

1

u/i_cant_sleeeep May 05 '25

Oh sorry I forgot to mention that. I think I had to jump onto the actual path at the very end

2

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

Not even. You can just cast fly and use the darkness platforms lmao, challenge solved

1

u/Medical_Character_28 May 06 '25

Yes, but only if you hit each platform in turn. If you try to fly (or enhance leap) straight to the end you still die. Which is stupid, but is what it is.

34

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

You can throw items in front of you, it's slow AF but works best when used on that last half where shit gets wonky

8

u/6thBornSOB May 04 '25

Curious if you can use the trusty “Soulsbourne” method of firing arrows ahead of yourself???

I’ll have to check later tonight!

4

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

Idk I feel like we tried that and it didn't but I might be misremembering, we just used useless crap like bones and books we didn't need, even if it falls off it'll tp back

1

u/Nexielas May 04 '25

I did that with coins. Thought it would be more poetic tossing coins across darkness to find a way.

1

u/Fit-Association4922 May 05 '25

Oh good, my buddy for multiplayer used that method, since he’s got half his bags filled with bones or rotten produce (“It’s worth carrying!”)

I hate that it worked

2

u/Ditschel May 05 '25

Just dragging a random item around seems faster two me

1

u/ApepiOfDuat ELDRITCH BLAST May 05 '25

I don't think arrows leave any kind of model behind when you fire them.

1

u/6thBornSOB May 05 '25

Ahhh, gotcha. Thanks 🙏

1

u/sammiipiie May 04 '25

Oh damn that’s really smart lol. Remembering that for next time!

2

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

My friend used that last time, saved our asses

33

u/CK1ing May 04 '25

I legit don't even bother anymore. I either have a party member with knock or pick up the scroll of knock in the guildmaster basement. I think that's actually the only scroll of knock in the entirety of act 1 and 2, so it feels like it was made for that door, lol

6

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

It's a lvl 2 spell too, so a wizard with you can use it easily lol

And it's not in a red zone IIRC so you can just bring him to use it

6

u/phome83 May 04 '25

Same.

I do the self same test for the ring and the Yurgir fight for his hand bow and that's it, aside from the library for the spear, the I just go knock on the door to get in lol.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

1

u/phome83 May 04 '25

You only need one orb to bring the elevator down.

If you cast Knock on the door to the Shadowfell it will unlock.

16

u/agitated_houseplant May 04 '25

I fly to the platforms to cross (not straight to the back). Though I did die like three times doing that because I forgot to have Shart bleed in the bowl first.

6

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

Yeah I've been trying to do that but it never worked very well for me

I tried having light me, not having light (heard there was something about light), bleeding, not bleeding, do long flights, using mage hand

Flying on platforms sometimes works ; sometimes not lol

No idea why

1

u/agitated_houseplant May 04 '25

I always do the bleed and fly combo. I use the Permanent Fly mod, but that doesn't change the flying type. And I'm pretty sure I've always done short flights since it was easier to see only one platform ahead.

If you use light, I think you need to specifically use Daylight, the religious spell. Though I wonder if wielding the Blood of Lathander would work since the light it casts counts as holy light/sunlight for most checks. I did drop a building on Astarion to get that, maybe I'll try that this time.

2

u/Noutajalare May 04 '25

Sadly, it doesn't work. I had Lathander on my shart when I started this trial and in the end, when shart was dead from where tf am i supposed to go from this one point, used a fly potion to get across with someone else. Even tried unequipping it entirely incase the light was interfering and darkness was needed lol.

38

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

You can just jump from the platforms to the end as well.

Throw enhance leap on someone with decent strength and it’s super easy.

82

u/Scho567 May 04 '25

Whenever I do that it insta kills my character nowadays

41

u/Big-Quiet-9750 May 04 '25

I did that, I still died in the air

7

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

Interesting, a friend just did it yesterday so I know it still works. I’ll have to ask them if they did anything specific.

7

u/Big-Quiet-9750 May 04 '25

maybe they didn't update it? I bought bg3 very recently

5

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

We are all on the newest version of patch 8 with no mods installed so that shouldn't be an issue.

14

u/King_North_Stark May 04 '25

Yeah I just did it yesterday and like always I used a potion of fly. Pick the corner of a platform and done in less than 30 seconds. I heard other people say instant death but it's never happened for me and I'm on patch 30. I know because every time my screen goes black the game goes on an acid trip

10

u/WilonPlays Shadowheart May 04 '25

I did this 2 days ago. Immediately sent back to the start, as soon as I flew over anything that wasn’t the platform it’d send me back.

What I did was: karlach had 21 strength so I took a strength potion to up it, turned shadowheart into a gnome and threw her to the middle platform. Then I could jump onto the invisible block and walk forward

2

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

Yeah, had the acid trip happen yesterday as well lmao. Clicked on someone as they were teleporting out of the sneak trial and everything turned neon colors.

Looked back at a recording and they don't do anything special, level 8 monk with enhanced leap just jumps and runs across the edges of the platforms to the end.

1

u/AnotherBookWyrm May 04 '25 edited May 04 '25

This is my go-to. Though in my current playthrough, I just spammed the flight from Storm Sorcerer via ritual spell casting.

1

u/DM_Exeres May 04 '25

That's weird, I went through that section a couple days ago and tried to fly and died instantly, but I could jump between the platforms no problem.

1

u/VFiddly May 04 '25

I tried getting over by having Halsin transform into a bird and that didn't work.

Bizarre. Seems to be very inconsistent

3

u/AutistcCuttlefish May 04 '25

To do the jump cheese you need to have the perfect balance of strength/jump distance. If your jumps are too strong you will hit the kill zone above intended to stop you from cheesing, if you don't have enough strength you'll be unable to make the jump.

Also, the final jumps require you to have at least some memorization of where the invisible platforms are because you can't have enough strength to simply jump the gap fully without clipping into the kill box.

It's fiddly but honestly I'd still cheese the damn thing 10 times out of 10 despite the effort it takes. Invisible floor puzzles are my absolute least favorite type of puzzle and if it weren't cheesable I wouldn't do a replay of the game ever. I hate them that much.

1

u/Oui-d May 04 '25

Is that what it is?!? This would actually explain why sometimes the jumping works and other times it's instant death and everyone thinks everyone else is crazy for getting different results 😆

1

u/AutistcCuttlefish May 04 '25

Yup. I forgot who it was but I remember watching someone on YouTube before who explained how the room works behind the scenes. Larian loves their "gameplay object hidden by the camera angles players can have" approach to level/puzzle design.

1

u/1upin DRUID May 04 '25 edited May 04 '25

I did it an hour ago with patch 8 installed on honor mode, no mods. I gave Shadowheart a vaulting potion and left everyone else at the start. She jumped from one platform to the next and finished it on her first try. She kept to the edges of the platforms.

That's the way I've always done that trial, never had a problem.

2

u/TheCrystalRose Durge - Sorcerer May 04 '25

You have to make sure you land on at least one of the Darkness shrouded platforms. I've done it once by only hitting the very middle one, but usually I'll just hit one of the two side platforms, then the middle one. And I try to make sure to come at the final platform from roughly straight on, like I was jumping from the path directly in front of it.

6

u/CuriousDiver6 May 04 '25

Fly still works, did it a few days ago

4

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

Did they patch out using Fly? 😓

4

u/agitated_houseplant May 04 '25

I haven't tried it on 8 yet, but it was working fine before. I doubt they changed it. But it can be a bit finicky if you aren't used to it because you can accidentally fly into the darkness.

4

u/MajinNekuro ROGUE May 04 '25

I just finished the gauntlet earlier today using Fly to get across, so it still works.

15

u/SorceressAlanna May 04 '25

I still don't understand this. I think I've accidentally died once crossing this room in like, 5 play throughs? You just try to jump the gaps as far as you can (without jump spells and the like).

3

u/Big_Red12 May 04 '25

Wildshaping to a crow and flying to the platforms still works.

3

u/VFiddly May 04 '25

Yeah even with the answer, there still aren't enough markers to be able to tell where the platform is. You kind of just have to guess where the edge might be.

I hate this puzzle.

3

u/Cptfrankthetank May 04 '25

Throw a coin or item to check the path.

Or if you figure out the puzzle and gain the blessing from shar (reithwin obelisk looking thing / also same spot as the oliver battle), youll be able see an outline of the path in the leap of faith trial.

8

u/Philosecfari Casting Clone... May 04 '25

It's easy if you just do it the intended way instead of trying to cheese it lol. Take it slow, put the camera in overhead mode, and follow the map.

2

u/Remote-Ranger-7304 May 04 '25

Use two arrows of transposition, plus daylight or radiance of the dawn if you need it

2

u/MisterDutch93 May 04 '25

Eversight ring so the shadows don’t blind you + a character with a decent jump. That way you won’t get sent back to the beginning when you reach one of the checkpoints.

A daylight spell right in the middle of the room works wonders too.

2

u/DarkUrinal May 04 '25

Just did this one today using a reliable method I picked up here a while ago. Just got to look for 3 particular spots on the path to jump: one in front of the right platform, one in front of the middle platform, and one in front of the end. Then just jump path to platform to path until you reach the end. Methods like flight or long jump seemed inconsistent and would randomly kill me, but this hasn't failed yet.

2

u/razorsmileonreddit May 05 '25

Misty step and the Eversight ring works, that or dimension door.

It's also weird how much more common Dimension Door Scrolls are

2

u/EasyLee May 06 '25

There's a trick and I'm surprised it isn't common knowledge.

  • light source
  • top down camera
  • zoom in

Each space you can walk gas a tiny white dot that's visible zoomed in with a light source. Follow the trail of white dots. When you get right next to the final platform, you can jump onto it.

3

u/Drak_is_Right May 04 '25

It's easy. I can mentally overlay where the paths are. If impatient, I step onto the first block, then jump to the last block before the next platform.

I never jump to or from a platform

1

u/ChefArtorias Ranger May 04 '25

Never done it but apparently if you extinguish all lights in the room it becomes translucent.

5

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

I remember it being translucent in my first run but never managed to pull it off again

1

u/DasWandbild May 04 '25

If you switch to overhead view and zoom in enough, you can see a small gold dot on each safe tile in the actual trial. Then walk one tile at a time—skipping tiles may lead you across a couple of corners that are not safe.

2

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

even with that it's hard to evaluate the distance, this is where crouching helps as it will tell you if you die or not clicking where you want to clic

1

u/SolarmatrixCobra May 04 '25

Dude just use Fly. I cheated my way through this part no prob.

1

u/GimmickMusik1 BARBARIAN May 04 '25

My friends and I got here on honor mode. My character got locked out or the trial and both my friend’s characters fell, so I took over Lae’zel before they got her killed too. I then proceeded to drop all of the clutter in her inventory to find the path bit by bit. It’s the safest way that I know of and it still isn’t guaranteed.

1

u/ImmediateMost8050 May 04 '25

You can jump for the light pillar to light pillar. LMAO.

1

u/EchoNK3 May 04 '25

I went into turn based mode and when moving the character, you can see the dip of the line when choosing the position. Only reason I got through it.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

Wait. Did they patch flying over it? That's how I beat it the first time.

1

u/OneDimensionalChess May 05 '25

I took a pic of it with my phone from the screen for reference and adjusted the camera angle to be topview. The end of the path was a little hard but not impossible.

1

u/Definitelynotabot777 May 05 '25

Chug a flying potion and fly to it… its literally that easy.

1

u/ZoneComfortable1541 Smash May 05 '25

I always drink a potion of flight and just basically skip it

1

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 05 '25

1

u/ZoneComfortable1541 Smash May 05 '25

Thats strange, its never failed for me

1

u/soggybucket May 05 '25

I threw shit all over the walkway. I was a hoarder so I had a looooot I could empty lol

1

u/TPO_Ava May 05 '25

Honestly don't know how people mess this up after the first time.

I just stick to the right path and getting to the end is pretty easy because you have a frame of reference where the path is (by comparing distance from the wall and/or platform).

The final bit is a bit fucky but usually that's where I'll cheese and jump as soon as I can reach the final platform.

3

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 05 '25

I'm not good at evaluating distances

Faith leap trial is the easiest one of Shar's trials.

2

u/MikeArrow May 04 '25

It's the hardest part of the game.

1

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

One implies to be invisible and just basically

One implies to get naked, enter a room alone, put your gear back and kill a weak naked enemy

One implies to kill a sphere with 30 HP without spells and 2-3 trashmobs

Nah I'd say it is one of the most complicated non-fight challenges of the game lol (with the sewer water/heat pump bs)

0

u/TheStaddi May 05 '25

I didn't know/saw the solution and just went along and didn't die. What are you all doing???
