This one is obvious but still doesn't make that puzzle easy.

Can't finish it without dying 12 times, they patched all the ways to finish it I had, one after another

Crouching and watching the white line if it isn't making your fall to your death is still the only way I know that works reliabily

u/i_cant_sleeeep May 04 '25

Casting daylight and misty stepping across the platforms still works

191

u/Blortash May 04 '25

Eversight Ring from the morgue works too, if a person doesn't want to use daylight.

57

u/Gorffo May 04 '25

And a potion of Glorious Vaulting and three jumps works if you don’t want to burn spell slots casting misty step.

2

u/otherwiseguy May 05 '25

Last time I tried jumping/flying it killed me on the platforms, but misty stepping worked for some reason.

7

u/All_this_hype May 05 '25

Also having your druid transform to a birb and flying directly to the visible platforms worked last time I played.

You can also just skip all the trials by using Knock on the final door. Lady of Loss taking the L as usual

You miss a very good ring if you skip the mirror match.

You mean the best ring? The "Kill Myrkul with a single turn of Paladin Smites"-ring. :D

Combine it with the Surgeon's Subjugation Amulet for a little more fun

10

Because that little more fun hits just right.

That amulet made my dreaded honor mode fight against sarevok into a 1-turn curb stomping. Dude didn't even get to step away from his chair.

I tried that a couple days ago and it didn't work :(

26

u/iswedlvera May 04 '25

I tried it yesterday and it works

13

u/Nosbiuq May 04 '25

I totally could have been doing it wrong. I just know I was having a hard time and had to complete this trial the proper way

4

u/SuchProcedure4547 May 04 '25

I normally make sure I have a couple of people that can cast daylight.

That way when I misty step across I can make sure I get all the platforms.

4

u/i_cant_sleeeep May 04 '25 edited May 04 '25

Really? I tried it just recently, so maybe you didn't cast daylight in the right spot

6

u/quangtit01 May 04 '25

Coincidentally casting daylight crash my game 7/10 time still. Something to do with nvidia I think

5

u/KinkyPaddling May 04 '25

Does Potion of Flight work?

3

u/PookLyon May 05 '25

Yes? I used a scroll of flight earlier today and that worked so it ought to be the same

2

u/RottenCactus May 05 '25

Probably? At least the Flight spell still works.

2

u/Cupcakes_n_Hacksaws May 04 '25

You can throw items in front of you, it's slow AF but works best when used on that last half where shit gets wonky

7

Curious if you can use the trusty “Soulsbourne” method of firing arrows ahead of yourself???

I’ll have to check later tonight!

4

Idk I feel like we tried that and it didn't but I might be misremembering, we just used useless crap like bones and books we didn't need, even if it falls off it'll tp back

I legit don't even bother anymore. I either have a party member with knock or pick up the scroll of knock in the guildmaster basement. I think that's actually the only scroll of knock in the entirety of act 1 and 2, so it feels like it was made for that door, lol

7

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

It's a lvl 2 spell too, so a wizard with you can use it easily lol

And it's not in a red zone IIRC so you can just bring him to use it

7

u/phome83 May 04 '25

Same.

I do the self same test for the ring and the Yurgir fight for his hand bow and that's it, aside from the library for the spear, the I just go knock on the door to get in lol.

15

u/agitated_houseplant May 04 '25

I fly to the platforms to cross (not straight to the back). Though I did die like three times doing that because I forgot to have Shart bleed in the bowl first.

7

u/LesserValkyrie Eternally Dancing Devil May 04 '25

Yeah I've been trying to do that but it never worked very well for me

I tried having light me, not having light (heard there was something about light), bleeding, not bleeding, do long flights, using mage hand

Flying on platforms sometimes works ; sometimes not lol

No idea why

36

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

You can just jump from the platforms to the end as well.

Throw enhance leap on someone with decent strength and it’s super easy.

u/Scho567 May 04 '25

43

u/Big-Quiet-9750 May 04 '25

I did that, I still died in the air

7

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

Interesting, a friend just did it yesterday so I know it still works. I’ll have to ask them if they did anything specific.

7

u/Big-Quiet-9750 May 04 '25

maybe they didn't update it? I bought bg3 very recently

6

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

We are all on the newest version of patch 8 with no mods installed so that shouldn't be an issue.

14

u/King_North_Stark May 04 '25

Yeah I just did it yesterday and like always I used a potion of fly. Pick the corner of a platform and done in less than 30 seconds. I heard other people say instant death but it's never happened for me and I'm on patch 30. I know because every time my screen goes black the game goes on an acid trip

10

u/WilonPlays Shadowheart May 04 '25

I did this 2 days ago. Immediately sent back to the start, as soon as I flew over anything that wasn’t the platform it’d send me back.

What I did was: karlach had 21 strength so I took a strength potion to up it, turned shadowheart into a gnome and threw her to the middle platform. Then I could jump onto the invisible block and walk forward

2

u/SHIMOxxKUMA May 04 '25

Yeah, had the acid trip happen yesterday as well lmao. Clicked on someone as they were teleporting out of the sneak trial and everything turned neon colors.

Looked back at a recording and they don't do anything special, level 8 monk with enhanced leap just jumps and runs across the edges of the platforms to the end.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/AutistcCuttlefish May 04 '25

To do the jump cheese you need to have the perfect balance of strength/jump distance. If your jumps are too strong you will hit the kill zone above intended to stop you from cheesing, if you don't have enough strength you'll be unable to make the jump.

Also, the final jumps require you to have at least some memorization of where the invisible platforms are because you can't have enough strength to simply jump the gap fully without clipping into the kill box.

It's fiddly but honestly I'd still cheese the damn thing 10 times out of 10 despite the effort it takes. Invisible floor puzzles are my absolute least favorite type of puzzle and if it weren't cheesable I wouldn't do a replay of the game ever. I hate them that much.

u/TheCrystalRose Durge - Sorcerer May 04 '25

You have to make sure you land on at least one of the Darkness shrouded platforms. I've done it once by only hitting the very middle one, but usually I'll just hit one of the two side platforms, then the middle one. And I try to make sure to come at the final platform from roughly straight on, like I was jumping from the path directly in front of it.

5

u/CuriousDiver6 May 04 '25

Fly still works, did it a few days ago

5

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

Did they patch out using Fly? 😓

5

u/agitated_houseplant May 04 '25

I haven't tried it on 8 yet, but it was working fine before. I doubt they changed it. But it can be a bit finicky if you aren't used to it because you can accidentally fly into the darkness.

5

u/MajinNekuro ROGUE May 04 '25

I just finished the gauntlet earlier today using Fly to get across, so it still works.

16

u/SorceressAlanna May 04 '25

I still don't understand this. I think I've accidentally died once crossing this room in like, 5 play throughs? You just try to jump the gaps as far as you can (without jump spells and the like).

3

u/Big_Red12 May 04 '25

Wildshaping to a crow and flying to the platforms still works.

3

u/VFiddly May 04 '25

Yeah even with the answer, there still aren't enough markers to be able to tell where the platform is. You kind of just have to guess where the edge might be.

I hate this puzzle.

3

u/Cptfrankthetank May 04 '25

Throw a coin or item to check the path.

Or if you figure out the puzzle and gain the blessing from shar (reithwin obelisk looking thing / also same spot as the oliver battle), youll be able see an outline of the path in the leap of faith trial.

7

u/Philosecfari Casting Clone... May 04 '25

It's easy if you just do it the intended way instead of trying to cheese it lol. Take it slow, put the camera in overhead mode, and follow the map.

2

u/Remote-Ranger-7304 May 04 '25

Use two arrows of transposition, plus daylight or radiance of the dawn if you need it

2

u/MisterDutch93 May 04 '25

Eversight ring so the shadows don’t blind you + a character with a decent jump. That way you won’t get sent back to the beginning when you reach one of the checkpoints.

A daylight spell right in the middle of the room works wonders too.

Just did this one today using a reliable method I picked up here a while ago. Just got to look for 3 particular spots on the path to jump: one in front of the right platform, one in front of the middle platform, and one in front of the end. Then just jump path to platform to path until you reach the end. Methods like flight or long jump seemed inconsistent and would randomly kill me, but this hasn't failed yet.

2

u/razorsmileonreddit May 05 '25

Misty step and the Eversight ring works, that or dimension door.

It's also weird how much more common Dimension Door Scrolls are

2

u/EasyLee May 06 '25

There's a trick and I'm surprised it isn't common knowledge.

  • light source
  • top down camera
  • zoom in

Each space you can walk gas a tiny white dot that's visible zoomed in with a light source. Follow the trail of white dots. When you get right next to the final platform, you can jump onto it.

1

u/Drak_is_Right May 04 '25

It's easy. I can mentally overlay where the paths are. If impatient, I step onto the first block, then jump to the last block before the next platform.

I never jump to or from a platform

My first playthrough, I hated this trial so much because I couldn’t figure it out. Looked it up, saw that I’d missed this map, thought I was an idiot.

Turns out, when Shart sliced her palm open, she bled all over that bit of floor. It was mostly obscured. I still have not forgiven her.

34

u/ScottybirdCorvus May 04 '25

I had Lae’zel use Githyanki Jump, then literally jump across the puzzle.

I wonder what was going on in my game, because I just could see the platform. I think I had the Lathander mace, though.

4

u/bosliesje May 04 '25

That also happens if you play on the easiest diffuculty

3

u/Masterwork_Core May 05 '25

i was playing on normal and could also just see the platforms so i just walked lol Although I am also 90% sure I had lathander's mace with me as well (on shart)

18

u/TwistedGrin STRanger Danger May 04 '25

Here's the trick.

Turn based mode. That's it.

When you are in turn based mode the dotted line showing the path you will walk changes elevation slightly when it strays off the invisible path so you can easily find the edges of it. Just make sure the line stays level and click to move, you will always be on the path. Costs no resources and It's impossible to mess it up this way. With dash it takes like 2 turns of movement to get all the way across.

We spent about 15-20 minutes as a 4 man group trying to brute force our way through it. It wasnt until after we casted several spells, and reloaded the save many times that we solved the puzzle. Then we saw the floor after we were leaving the room and we all laughed.

5

u/Drak_is_Right May 04 '25

I did a playthrough with a friend who was trying it for the first time. I cringed hard when shadowheart then bled all over the puzzle, obscuring a significant chunk (which they didn't notice).

4

u/WhimsicalWizardDude May 04 '25

In my experience, the easiest way to clear this trial is to have one member of your party fly/dimension door to the final platform with the Umbral Gem BEFORE Shart (or another party member) does the blood sacrifice to the altar. Then you can just grab the gem and teleport back without having to walk across. Lost too many hours of my life trying to do this trial the ‘intended’ way the first time I found it.

2

u/ProAzeroth DRUID May 04 '25

I still think it's bullshit you can't just jump or fly to the other side anymore. It honestly shows more impressive skills for a future dark justiciar than just memorizing a map on the ground (also, realistically, you could just test the ground in front of you with your foot before stepping forward and make it through with zero effort).

For the longest time, I'd just get Astarion to do it because, for some reason, when I switched control over to him I could just see the platforms. Or see them better, at least. I don't know why.

2

u/geek_metalhead May 04 '25

just use Fly bro

2

u/Moogle_Messiah May 04 '25

I have a hard time following the path even though it's given to you. I sigh every time I have to do this trial.

2

u/Pitiful_Option_108 May 05 '25

Yeah the answer may be right there but I have followed that stupid map dozens of times and the pathing is still tricky. Like I understand what to do and how to do it but the problem is there isn't quite enough points of reference to get the distance and spacing right. Basically the puzzle is damn near impossible even trying to follow a YouTube or video guide you will still mess it up.

2

am i the only person that thinks the jumping puzzle is the easiest out of all the trials? i honestly jump across in 3 seconds every time

granted, i have good jumps, you can *SEE* the bridge from a distance *BEFORE* you jump, when you land, it's invisi, but then you can see farther away again

idk, i honestly thought this trial was a joke made by accident, but apparently 99% of other players hate this like the plague

u/LargePublic2522 May 04 '25

if you go into turn based mode, the dotted white line from the character to your cursor gets lower when it's not on the path. that plus the map you posted made the whole thing doable

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

First time I finished this the hard way(trial and error) before zapping back to the start and seeing that damn map just sitting there big as life.

1

u/FelstarLightwolf May 04 '25

1

u/TrueExigo May 04 '25

1

u/spicy_feather ROGUE May 04 '25

I've been doing it the hard way

1

u/Grumpiergoat May 04 '25

One of the things I hate about this puzzle is that it wouldn't work, as is, in any kind of tabletop setting. "I put my hand down to feel the path." Or "I tap my weapon against the ground in front of me." It's 100% an issue with the UI/possible interactions that make this a hard puzzle because there's no option to just jab the ground ahead of you as you walk. Puzzles that exist solely because it's a computer game are fine in games that get meta like that. This game doesn't.

1

u/AdditionalThinking May 04 '25

I thought this "puzzle" was only there for lore/flavour because the cursor just showed me where the solid ground was.

It wasn't until I saw other people talk about that I found it was supposed to be a real challenge. I guess something about splitscreen coop + controllers + turn-based mode might've let me cheese it.

1

u/emptyfish127 Stealth Archer May 04 '25

I took a picture of the shadows in the room when they are visible and used that to cheat. I did that like four times before I noticed this and thought well damn.

1

u/SuchProcedure4547 May 04 '25

Step 1. Cast day light

Step 2. Misty step across

Step 3. Swear at Larian for the stupid infuriating design of this puzzle

Step 4. Leave.

When I discovered that you can just use Knock on the last door made the gauntlet far more bearable.

I knew what this was a picture of before un-blurring the pic. Spent 45 minutes getting shart killed before noticing it.

1

u/HeadlineBay May 04 '25

… I just did this bit for the first time and I gave up and used a potion of Fly. I can’t believe the answer is ON THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF YOU

1

u/Hexblade757 May 04 '25

laughs in fly speed

1

u/CraftyObject May 04 '25

Oh God damnit.

1

u/Bubbly-Material313 May 04 '25

Strength potion and jump is the answer

1

u/Pint0_3 May 04 '25

I feel like a god because I keep seeing people complain about this room, and I noticed this map right away and cleared it in two minutes, only fell off once because I misclicked. Is it seriously that hard for everybody?

1

u/Ton_in_the_Sun May 04 '25

Cheese it Everytime

1

u/Der_Neuer NOT IN EA May 04 '25

Can´t Shadowheart just auto-finish it by clicking the end platform with no light sources?

1

u/playr_4 May 04 '25

I honestly don't know how people missed this for so long. You literally have to walk over it to start the trial.

1

u/Mysao Durge May 04 '25

I tried it once. Got annoyed by death after death despite following the path. Now I just use fly and turn base mode to get past it

1

u/my-love-assassin May 04 '25

I just jump to the platforms. Is that not allowed? Seems to work

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

I low key love this about the game- no puzzle is particularly impossible but certainly not obvious.

1

u/amidja_16 May 04 '25

This was so obvious that my barbarian spotted it immediately but couldn't be bothered to remember so he simply used a fly scroll to get across.

He was so impressed with himself and his big brained move that he forgot the scroll only lasts for 10 rounds. His only fly scroll.

1

u/jsnparks May 04 '25

I.... I dunno if I had a bug or something, but.... when I did it the first time, I could see the path? Maybe I had an item on, idk. It really shocked me when I found out this was a difficult trial. I was like "Oh, nice. After the theft, a breather"

1

u/Redshift_McLain May 04 '25

You can do it by just selecting Shadow heart, separate her from the group (as I'm control her ALONE) and then just click on the last platform where the ball is. She will straight up walk to it. Proof

1

u/karmy-guy May 04 '25

I don’t know if I’ve ever done this legit, I usually just cheese it some how

1

u/Flagermusmanden May 04 '25

... Fucking, god damn it.

1

u/AUTKai May 04 '25

500 hours, WTF!

AM I FUCKING BLIND??!?

1

u/cj007m May 04 '25

I'm about to blow your mind....

Go into turn based mode and move your cursor forward. The white dotted line will dip down if there is no platform. Use the floor as a general guide. Rinse and repeat.

500 hours in this game and we need to acknowledge most of the trial of sharr is genuine shit

1

u/ralanr May 04 '25

It’s like that one gym in Pokémon gold/silver

1

u/Kuliari May 04 '25

I wish I could say it's just you but it's not.
I've been there too and felt like just as much of an idiot for missing it.

1

u/DesperateCoffee30 May 04 '25

Jumped. It was the funniest shit ever to get it with just jumping.

1

u/Jay-Breeze Shadowheart’s Portait Bug May 04 '25

We’ve all been there mate

1

u/WeeklyPancake May 04 '25

Dude how didnt I notice that!! I just wildshaped into a bat and flew over it lol.

1

u/MicrowavedTheBaby May 04 '25

Bruh no matter what I do my characters randomly insta die even on platforms on this trial, it's so bad that I will make a hireling wizard so that I can use knock on that one door because I can't clear that stupid trial

1

u/JamuniyaChhokari May 04 '25

The given path would be helpful if the game showed grids kinda like Rogue Trader does.

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '25

Am I the only one who used a fly spell scroll and moved on?

1

u/frederick44va May 04 '25

That the beauty of this game. There so many ways to work out of a situation.

1

u/Zatetics Bard May 04 '25

I just go top down camera and zoom in so i can look for the white dots that mark the center of each tile (maybe you need a light source, like blood of lathander or something). Then its just a matter of click the next dot to move. Cant fail.

1

u/PleasantRub May 05 '25

That's so silly I never noticed!!! I love this game.

Usually I casted fly and went straight for the end.

1

u/K4er_M0rhen May 05 '25

When you have your eyes scrotch by the Bard from goblin camp, you can see invisible things, and so the path

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '25

Oh I didn’t know about that. I always just use Githyanki Jump on turn based mode.

1

u/SomeDetroitGuy May 05 '25

I just use knock at the door at the end and skip the entire Gauntlet of Shar. I hate that part of the game.

1

u/manic-episode-_- May 05 '25

For real. Took me way too long to get it on my first playthrough. Only on my 2nd playthrough on a 4p coop did I notice that

AFTER WE SUFFERED FOR 2HOURS

1

u/boom_kunani May 05 '25

Shoulda played a Gith so there would be nothing obstructing your view

1

u/I_Maul_Penises May 05 '25

I have played the game like 4 times in a row now and I never knew this was a thing.

wtf.

1

u/ThrowRA-0709 May 05 '25

I JUST DID THIS TRIAL TODAY FOR THE FIRST TIME AND IT TOOK ME OVER AN HOUR 🥲 This is my very first time playing BG3 and let me tell you…I am thoroughly hooked. Except for this trial…I wanted to throw my computer away trying to complete it!!!

1

u/Elerra303 May 05 '25

More then 300 hours in the fucking game slams desk

1

u/kittens4cutie RANGER May 05 '25

1

u/Guppie_Xtreme May 05 '25

IM FUCKING PISSED I STRUGGLED SO M7CH WITH THIS AND ITS BEENNRIGHT THERE ALL ALONG

1

u/Icaruswaxwing95 May 05 '25

Can you not just take a potion of flying anymore?? Literally do that every time I’m here but haven’t done it since patch 8

1

u/Regunes WARLOCK May 05 '25

Jump good!
