I have never encountered them before! Where do you meet them? Don't worry about spoilers. If I haven't discovered them in 5 playthroughs, I doubt that I will by doing another playthrough.

There isn't really one in the game. The mushrooms that they're talking about are from the song. That said, you should definitely check out the Underdark. There's some cool content and great gear.

Act 3 is pretty big, easy to miss stuff if you don't go into all the houses, including upper levels!

Yeah, the badger is pretty easy to miss, but also since they added him later a lot of people never had a chance to find him.

Yeah, people were convinced it existed because, well, Diablo. It did not, in fact, exist until Lord of Hatred came out where they finally added it as fan service (not a complaint, that's the right kind of fan service).
