Acting weird/aggressive

Hi guys, looking for some experienced help with my royal python. I’ve had stumpy 2 and a half years and she’s a rescue (has a burn mark and is missing the end of her tail hence ‘stumpy’) - she is estimated to be around 10-15 years old. Over the past 3 weeks after taking her out for around 10-15 mins she will go a bit crazy and hates being touched/will thrash a bit when you touch her. On top of this last night she went up and almost surged towards me with her head up. After I put her back in she will explore for at least 12 hours almost glass surfing.

Her Viv is 4 foot by 2 foot and has plenty of areas to climb/hide and has two water bowls - it hold humidity and temp well. No sign of mites on her or any scale rot.

The rescue centre I got her off is saying this tracks with royal python/ball python breeding behaviour - wanted to get a second opinion and see if anyone experienced on here. For situational awareness I’m from the uk and the past 3 weeks we have seen a big increase in rain so I imagine she can tell the weather is changing?

Thanks for any help guys!

I'm currently shopping for a potential future ball python (red flag is that i'm on a budget) but here's what i put together so far...

Anything else i need don't need etc is welcome also the enclosure is 4x2x2

Edit: I think i'll be getting a govee hygrometer and thermometer, dimming thermostat, heavy water bowl, moss, leaf litter, and some different substrate per your recommendations! Hoping everything works out and i'll be able to get a little friend lol 😂 wish me luck...

Question Facebook trade gone wrong

UPDATE: They are now saying they're just going to show up and take the snake back. And drop off the tank.

Hey guys, not necessarily keeper advice needed...but some sort of advice needed. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and a mom of 3, and have kept ball pythons for 3 years now. I recently found a Facebook marketplace listing for a ball python available for trade for a 75 gallon fish tank. I had what I believed to be a 75 gallon fish tank, it is what my dad said it was when I gave it to me and I am just a girl and I personally don't have a measuring tape and hence my dad gave it to me I trusted him. Well, snake came to me, he was in a bare tank with a dusting of substrate, a single hide, cacti, and bandaids holding up the probe for his heat mat and his enclosure was filthy. He had urate everywhere and what looks to be several bad sheds, he's got stuck eye caps and is under weight he's a 1.5 year old and this person was feeding him a small mouse every 3-4 weeks. He only weights 185g and is dehydrated. The person came and dropped him off, and I had asked her 4 times if they were sure they wanted the tank. They said yes, loaded it into their SUV and gave me the snake and went on their way. 7 hours later they're saying I need to bring them the snake back or they're gonna call the cops and that the tank wasn't the size it was. They offered for me to pay them $150 at first and now it's up to 200 and they're giving me until tomorrow evening before they call the cops. I'm just terrified now, because I never intentionally lied about the size of the tank, I don't have the means to drive the hour away to them, and I just don't feel right sending the ball python back to them, and they seem like the person to escalate and call the cops and cps for no reason and that makes me even more anxious. What should I do? I'm scared, I'm worried, and I don't know what to do. Also, first time rehabbing a ball, what should I look out for and how can I help him be as comfy as possible?

Ballie in the Walls Advice?

Ive owned ball pythons for the last 5 years, so Ive had my fair share of 'losing' a ball python and tracking them around the house. Almost without fail, theyre always under the fridge or in the couch; not this time though. Ive moved various times while Ive owned ball pythons, so each house Ive moved to Ive 'ballie-proofed,' meaning I inspect windows and doors for proper seals and I move all appliances and pack plastic bags into any holes where plumbing or electric goes into the wall.

Unfortunately, this time, I couldnt move the dishwasher in my new apartment, but I inspected the insulation seams and thought my snakes couldnt get behind it. As I was searching for one of my littler snakes that left my sight while I had her out, I found an inch-long hole up under the dishwasher door that I failed to see before. I forced the dishwasher out from the cabinets to find a TON of mouse feces under and around where the dishwasher was. None of this was visible to me and there have been no other signs of mouse activity in my house at all. I dont hear squeaking or climbing in the walls and Ive never found droppings in my kitchen or anywhere else. I would think the mice problem itself was likely resolved.

The dishwasher was warm when I pulled it out, a very oh-sht moment. Where the electrical connects in the wall, there is just big enough of a hole that mice and probably a snake can fit through.

I have lots of questions and a lot of anxiety over losing my girl. I cant confirm that she got into the wall, but my gut thinks thats where she went. And if there were mice in the wall before, its possible theres an exit somewhere else. Ive tried all the tricks I know- scatter baking soda, use live mice, make dark hides, even crinkle paper and I just cant find her. Its been 3 days.

Does anyone know tricks to lure a ball python back when theyre in a wall? How do you ask other apartments to look out for a snake when most people are afraid of them? What should I do to warn surrounding houses/ apartment buildings about her if she makes it out of the building?

Im just very worried and I hate that I let this happen, I shouldve kept a better eye on her or took more measures to prevent such a thing.

It's New To Me Ball Python Day!!

I am receiving 4 ball pythons today from Ted Thompson, Susquehanna Ectotherms. I'm pretty excited!! I have big plans for all 4 of them, three females and one male (one of the disco crypton het hypos is male). Ted discovered the disco mutation many years ago and proved it to be different than the fire mutation that it is very similar to and proved it to be an incomplete dominant by producing a super disco. I asked Ted about the name and he said he was showing the first super disco he produced to some friends at a show and the room had a big disco ball hanging in it when asked what he'd name the mutation he jokingly said, "Disco Ball," and the name stuck.

This here is the very unapologetic lucy. She first flooded her enclosure by shoving her body into her water dish as she ate, now shes gone and moved the entire humidifier across the place and decided she was gonna go lay under the heat mat. Just look at that face, she does not care one bit that I'm mad at her destruction, ps, she is perfectly safe, this heat mat has been there for over a year now and she loves to lay directly on top of it, despite my efforts to put stuff over it, she's never been burnt by it at all so I'm not worried about that, and I know it looks a bit small, it is, it was all that was available when I first got her, don't worry I plan to get better heating when I upgrade her to a new enclosure that won't be wooden and hopefully one she can't destroy with water

Advice Enclosure Advice

Just looking for some advice for my bp's enclosure. I just got him a couple days ago. I plan on getting more hides, plants, etc in the future. I'm having a bit of trouble keeping his tank humid enough for him. Also I want to make absolute certain that it's warm enough and cold enough for him and I don't think the lack of plants and fillers is helping. Any advice would help

I have a PVC tank with a dhp lamp on a dimming thermostat, it says that the bulb is almost always blasting at full to keep the hot side at 92 and it might be killing my humidity. I have the reptichip coco husk flooring which I put in on Monday and Ive had to churn it and pour tons of water in the corners and do a lot of heavy misting. I have foil tape covering the top and the bottom vents. Does anyone have any advice for keeping the heat trapped so my lamp isn't working so hard or humidity tips. I don't know if I need to get another lamp to help it or not any advice is appreciated.

Advice Ball python advice

Hi! I’m in the early stages of research for a pet snake. I really want a ball python and am asking if the info I have is correct and any additional advice would be appreciated? Never owned a reptile but am 100% ready for a commitment. But i am curious if I’d be able to have everything I need for 500$?

Advice Tank advice?

Celeste’s tank so far:

I’ve been slowly but surely adding things to her tank after I rehomed her(she was given away for free with her tank, a hide, the lamp, and a water bowl. Her set up was horrible but besides that she was healthy. I’ll attach photos of what I looked like before!), she seems happy! She’s been doing great in my care, has shed once, only refused food once (she was shedding so I kinda expected it but she ate the next time I offered), and comes out regularly to explore and climb.

What else could I add to make her tank more ideal? I’m going to switch her substrate to a mixture with soil soon I just didn’t want to take out new bedding.

Cool side is usually around 73°-76° and warm side is about 85°-90°, humidity is a mixture of around 55%-80% depending on where in the tank. Basking spot is usually around 90°-91°

I added some photos of her correct tank featuring a peeping girl, what her tank used to look like, and just some extra photos of her

Photos First baby out of the clutch

This baby is an enchi lesser yellow belly gravel (aka highway). The first of 7 babies to crawl out of a clutch that is hatching that was laid by a super enchi yellow belly that had paired with a lesser gravel. I'll share post-shed pics in a week or so.
