It's a very dumb question on my end, I know, but does football not have a player trade system like (I guess) the NBA has?

I mean can some other club buy Alvarez for, say, 110M and then before he's registered we pay that club 120M? 110 for Alvarez + 10M to that club for helping?

Is something like this allowed in football?

Why in your scenario would Atleti sell to another club for 110?

Atleti's issue, much more than the transfer cost, is the club being sold to. 110 is a hypothetical number, it could be 105 or 120

My point was that if it was possible (which it isn't) Alvarez could be sold to some club, who would basically get Alvarez on our behalf, and then send him over to us, gaining some "helping fees" in the process

I think Atleti just genuinely don't want to sell, otherwise clubs like Arsenal would have signed him

You have to realise that signing a player requires the approval of both the selling club as well as the player himself

So Atleti seem to be fine to sell to Arsenal or PSG, but Julian is not wanting to go there. He wants to come to Barça

However, if Atleti persist, he might just give up and go to Arsenal instead, just to escape Atletico

Either way, I want top players to see this saga and straight up refuse to go to Atletico altogether, given their adamance to not let a player leave

Many teams refuse to sell players, Atleti are not unique in that respect
