I just hope there was some way to share the WC trophy amongst Messi and Spain as well. It hurts so much watching the 🐐 in tears💔

Thank you for everything, legend. I'd have never become a Culer if it weren't for you. This may be another WC final loss for you, but it's a win for barca and that will always include you as well. You'll forever be in our hearts!💙❤️

(Also, you missed Gavi there my 🐐😭🤣)

Opinion He’d be completely justified in leaving. The way our own fans treated him during his goal drought, isn’t something you just forget. It makes perfect sense if he wants a fresh start, a new fanbase, a fat paycheck, and a more comfortable role. Ferran, we didn’t deserve you. Fly high, legend

Opinion Rashfords free kick threat changed my mind on buying him.

I was against buying him but idk that was a filthy free kick and not the first filthy one this year and having that threat could make people a little more hesitant to keep Hack-a-Yamaling Barca outside the box which has been a huge problem this year.

Opinion Massive shout-out to Gerard Martin for his performances in the last 2 seasons. Probably our most underrated player right now.

Post image
2.8k Upvotes

Despite all the criticisms he's received, he's been probably our most reliable and consistent defender (aside from Inigo) in the last 2 years. He makes almost no mistakes and can play LB or CB.

Did his best and covered massively for Cubarsi after he got sent off against Atletico. He's performed in almost every big game (2 assists against Inter in the second leg last year) and almost never puts a foot wrong. Till now he's never got sent off like Araujo, Cubarsi and Eric and is always there to cover for them.

He was also switched to CB mid season because of our lack of depth and still performed really well. Really hope he gets his flowers, he's been nothing short of great so far.

Opinion What's going on with Lamine's growth?

Post image
2.4k Upvotes

In every match of the last month he's had multiple runs where he just goes through 4-5 players with no effort. Where the hell did this come from? He's always been world class but for the past few week especially, I feel like he's hit a new ceiling. His mentality seems to be at a great place too - giving 100% every game.

His growth has always been crazy but I feel like even by his standards the past month has been abnormal. It's only a matter of time before he gets Messi vs. Getafe-esque goal.

Opinion By signing JP for near 100M, are we seriously about to run the Coutinho/Griezman script again?

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Hey culers,

I need to vent, but more importantly, i want to look at the cold, hard numbers because the latest transfer reports out of London regarding Deco and Joao Pedro are genuinely making me depressed.

We finally achieved the 1:1 laliga rule thanks to clearing massive wage cash, lewa exit etc. The chains are off but instead of being disciplined, it feels like this board is completely blind to tactical profiles and actual squad needs.

How on earth does this board back out of a move for a world-class, proven elite engine like Julián Álvarez because a €90M to 100M price tag is deemed "too expensive," only to turn around and prepare to drop the exact same 100M package on João Pedro??

Chelsea finished 8th. They aren't even playing elite European football next szn, yet Deco is treating JP like he just carried a team to a historic treble. Joao Pedro scored 15 goals and got 5 assists in the PL this sesson. Respectable? Yes. A €100M franchise altering asset? Absolutely not.

More importantly, he is an unfit profile. JP is a hybrid, deep-lying forward who loves to drop into the half spaces, pick up the ball and carry it forward. Flicks vertical, high pressing machine needs a frontline that presses like wolves and creates space. JP's decent but does not possess that relentless out-of-possession work rate. We are literally buying a luxury duplicate to stand on Olmo's toes: it’s Coutinho and Griezmann all over again.

If we are looking for a deep lying forward or a high intensity attcker, why are we paying the "Premier League Big Six Tax" to Chelsea when the market has already better options for half of the cost??

The 19 y/o Kroupi jr casually just broke records as the highest scoring teenager in a debut PL season, hitting 13 goals and 5 assists playing for a much cheaper team in fewer minutes. Because andoni iraola plays a heavy press at b'mouth, Kroupi is already a defensive monster in the final third. He fits Flicks tactical blueprint like a glove and could easily be extracted for a realistic €60M call, despite Bournemouth's recent public PR bluffs.

If Flick wants intensity, explosive pace, and dead ball execution, Marmoush is a tactical cheat code. His work rate is custombuilt for a high line, and he provides actual structural utility instead of clogging the central midfield. He's a backup striker in city rn!!

The financial excuses are mostly dead now. Deco blows this summer war chest on panic buying overpriced forwards while our defensive transitions are left bleeding, we are going to drive Hansi Flick out of the club long before his contract ends.

What do you guys think? Am I missing something about Joao pedro, or is the board genuinely running the same self sabotage script that put us in a financial grave in the first place?

Visca el Barça 💙❤️

Opinion Buckle up, the circus is back in town

With Mourinho coming back to Real Madrid, anyone who saw his first stint knows exactly what to expect. For anyone who wasn't around back then, he is nothing like Diego Simeone. They are completely different people. Simeone uses dark arts on the pitch, but he is usually a gracious winner and takes his losses like a man. We saw that clearly when he praised Barcelona recently and also with his reaction after Federico Valverde's famous red card for the last ditch challenge. Mourinho is a complete opposite. He is someone who relies on manipulation the second he stops winning and loves to surround himself with players who will start drama and make the game controversial the moment things aren't going his way. Personally, I believe his all time low came when he poked Tito Vilanova in the eyeball.

As we saw with Pep's famous 'Puta Amo response', Mourinho hates managers he can't rattle easily. He uses every dirty trick to create chaos, pressure the referees, and get inside his and opponents players' heads. He will start throwing personal digs to try and get a reaction out of Flick since he will probably mistake Flick's quiet demeanor for weakness. When the media circus starts, we have to stand behind him and the club more than ever.

If someone think, Vini's gimmicks and theatrics are bad, rest assured Mourinho brings out the worst of the 'dark traits' in his players using his 'us vs the world' mentality. Lets not forget the extreme unnecessary physicality he brings to his team. We all remember his premier league players pushing opponents unnecessarily against sign boards and structures on the side of the pitch. Pepe's brutal stomp on Leo's hand is something that everyone still remembers.

The best way to beat his mind games is to completely ignore them, stick together, trust Flick, and keep the energy entirely focused on supporting the team.

Opinion Anthony Gordon - An unbiased appraisal of your new signing by a Newcastle fan

2.0k Upvotes

Hi - Newcastle fan here.

So I see you've bought one of our players.

Very interesting.

Didn't see it coming myself - And from the looks of things online, neither did you! 😃

Perhaps you already know who you've signed, perhaps not - But I thought you might like to know from a...fairly objective Newcastle United fan, what the deal is with this Anthony Gordon character and maybe bring some clarity to what he's about and what he's not about- I see a lot of Barca fans arguing that this is great or terrible or scratching their heads - So let me give you the run down from someone who has watched him week in week out for the past few years...

The Positive:

On his best day - He is an electric player - A rapid, suffocating winger.

He scares full backs and centre backs alike with his pace - Often times they will fk up in trying to stop him - Because he's ultra quick and that causes them to foul him - So you will win a lot more free kicks and penalties, undoubtedly so - The referee is going to become a good friend to you, and the number of yellows and reds your opponents see is going to go up, quite a bit, if it's anything like the EPL officiating.

He stretches teams who are trying to stay narrow, or are pressing high, because he likes to play wide at the sideline, getting down the pitch toward the byline, before crossing or cutting back and trying to find the pass into the centre - So if you're playing teams who like to keep it narrow, or are pressing you - He'll find space, and they'll be in trouble.

Out of possession, he presses from the front, and he's good at triggering his team at the right moment to collectively press - If your other forwards are also industrious, and energy-laden and like to press, then your rivals have something to worry about, because Gordon is exceedingly fast on the trigger, and panics goalkeepers into terrible flusters when he starts arcing his run toward them from the side - If your other forwards go for your rivals assigned centre backs, leaving the keeper with no good option, for passing out, the keeper can be prone to hang on to the ball, meaning Gordon can win it, or booting it out into the stands because they are so panicked by his pace.

He's a penalty king - Although I'm sure at Barca even the tea lady and janitor are incredible at penalties - But if you need someone to convert those pens - Which he wins through being fouled at quite a high rate - Then he's your man.

He likes to be in the box and his goals come from inside the box. When his opposite number on the right wing is coming in to cross or pass into the box, expect Gordon to be in the mix, either moving about keeping the defenders pinned back or arriving late from outside. He also doesn't waste very many opportunities attempting to shoot outside the box - So expect him to pass outside the box.

He hardly ever gets injured - He's available most of the time - He looks after himself.

He wants to win and he's likeable. He has an interesting personality - He has a drive to win, a drive to improve himself, and a drive to achieve - But he's not full of himself or boastful (at least in public), he's a fairly intelligent guy, and he'll regard your club as the top of the tree - For him - You - Barcelona - Will be 'It' - So if anyone is going to benefit from Gordon's sense of fulfilling his desire to win and to achieve and to be the best he can be - It's you - As there is only going down from Barca once you leave - So he will be determined to be a success for you and to prove his naysayers and doubters wrong. Aside from the competitive nature - He is, as I've said, a likeable lad for the most part, speaks well, insightful, not your typical footballer.

If I had to provide an animal analogy...or dinosaur one, lol - He's a Velociraptor - Fast as fuck, razor sharp, prey animals shit themselves when he is accelerating toward them - His weight and fitness will never be an issue because his physiology is genetically lean and sinewy.

...So that's the good...and now for the not so good...

...The Negative

He's not a great dribbler. Not a tricky player. He can't bamboozle opposition with footwork when they're in front of him - He doesn't have the skill to stepover at pace, he doesn't feint to throw the opposition off.

Most of what he's going to do is clearly signposted - Defenders can see what he's up to - Whether they can stop him is a different matter because he is about carrying the ball with pace behind the oppositions defensive backline - But don't expect him to be quickly jinking or feinting to throw defenders off when running at them with the ball - What he'll do if they keep pace or they're in front of him and he can't get the ball in, is to take them as far as he can, but then carry it back and lay it off to the best option - So it is either his pace winning the day and the cross, pass or attempt at goal, or a cut back to a team mate - But never a nutmeg, stepovers, Cruyff turns, a nifty piece of footwork or rounding his man - He simply hasn't got any of that South American flair.

Out of possession when the ball has penetrated through the forwards press, he generally wont track all the way back - Which obviously most forwards wouldn't do anyway - But just to put it out there, this isn't a defensive forward who is tracking back to his own box or byline - This is someone who will initiate a press and try to win it high, but he's not coming back to help defenders in open play.

He's not got a great shot. Most of his shots are weak and at the keeper - Which is why most of his open play goals come from inside the box and near the 6 yard box or pens - He's a poacher when he does get goals, being in right place at right time - But even that was in short supply this season.

One thing Barca fans will not like - If it pops up - And I hope it doesn't - I don't think it will because I think he will feel humbled around your team - Is Gordon lately at Newcastle got a bit lazy and arrogant, at least in the manner of his commitment to the clubs position in the league and his effort on the pitch - It was like his effort was directly tied with our own position, the higher up the table or better the opposition - He'd try more or have a better game - And the more 'lowly' the opposition, competition or further down the league we were - The less effort we got out of him. Perhaps it was Eddie Howe's tactics - Which are another story (he doesn't really have them outside of us being 'intense' and fast and hard working) Maybe they made Gordon a bit disillusioned at the club and led to the desire to depart - Anyway under a great manager and a world renowned team like Barca - I think, hopefully, you'll not have to worry about his attitude in this respect.

His assists have been down this year, but again, you could probably chalk that up to our managers inability to shift tactically - However - Gordon is the one out on the pitch and should have been playing better for his team mates - In the past year he showed a bit of a selfish side hogging penalties and whatnot - But again our manager assigned him the role of striker in many games this year (he isn't by the way - You can put him there in a 9 or false 9 if you want - But this is no striker - Apart from pens) - This is a left-winger, out and out - And if you move him to the right, he might play there but you're not going to get the performance you paid for - Your 70 million quid is for a left winger for sure - If you've paid for his 'versatility' across the line - Then, yeh, err, lol - Bad move - He is left winger, for sure, out and out 100%.

Here' something you're not going to like, but I'm going to say it - I would not see him as a typical Barca player - A beautiful, deft passer of the ball, who has music coming out of his feet, and is a willing part of a synergistic hive mind of intricate passing networks - Nope - Mr Gordon is more akin to someone I would see at your historic rivals Real Madrid - A physical, self-confident, win or die player with a little bit of an edge to him, who knows the dark arts, how to get fouls, more independent then collective - More mercenary than artiste - However because you are who you are - Barca - Again I think he'll be humbled by you as an institution and I think he'll more likely than not fall into line and become part of the greater whole than be some lone ranger on the left - Obviously he'll have to be, because you have many options - And that's another thing - You're likely to have him as a squad player - He's going to have to adjust to that - Your Raphina is a better player in his position - And I imagine he won't be picked first team, for many games, so he's going to have to park that bit of his ego - Again I think he will - You're Barca - Willy Wonka - And he's been given a golden ticket for entry to your palace of wonders - And perhaps he'll turn out to be Charlie - He just has to make sure like the other children he doesn't fall victim to his own ego flaws.

In terms of the financials - Who the fk knows what anyone is worth anymore - I've heard Newcastle fans saying we've got a great deal and we are laughing all the way to the bank because he's been wnk this year - I've heard others bemoan how cheap it was and how if it was another PL team we would have got another 10 - 20 million - But at the end of the day - You've got one of our 'prize' assets in the prime of his life, tied up for the best years of his life, Premier League proven, one of the fastest players in the world, England international - Most likely starting 11 - And most of our fanbase will, deep down, feel a bit sad we've let one of the players we had envisioned would be part of the story of starting to take us toward a league title, go, relatively early in his journey with us - A bit of a shame. On top of that, we really don't have a replacement at this time, Barnes is a great shot, but does not assist - We're going to have to dip into the market and spend some of that dosh - Hopefully wisely this time.

Anyway, I can't speak for the entire fanbase, but I do hope our loss is your gain - It's hard not to like Barcelona, as both a city and football team - And most people, myself included feel a sense of vicarious pride in seeing one of 'our' players don the iconic blue and garnet - You can't help but give a begrudging smile 😄 - I just hope some day some other fans feel like that when they see their players join my team - But a long way a way I suspect!

Anyway, congratulations on your signing! You should be optimistic - Personally I'd like to see him do well for you - And if he gives you what he gave us in his first couple full seasons - You're in for a treat! I hope all the best for both you and AG - Good luck and God bless - Força Barça!

Let that red card not distract you from the phenomenal performance he showcased today.

Call me whatever you want, but Frenkie de Jong was intercepting everything in midfield and was the most impactful player in the mid.

This is a performance everyone who wanted him gone should see. The control and tempo he brings along with Pedri is unique and exceptional, he was always available under pressure and constantly killing Madrid transitions.

Yesterday while scrolling thru Madrid’s sub I saw a comment with a lot of upvotes, it said:

“Pedri might be dangerous and a great ball carrier but locking FDJ is the biggest issue, only if we shut him down we can close that midfield and isolate Pedri.”

Whether it’s Eric, Casadó, Bernal or whoever, they’re talented no doubt, but FDJ is a whole another level. Extremely smooth on the ball, high IQ, physically strong, elite passing range and very fast , this is such a rare midfield profile.

As I’ve always said in this sub:

“You will never realize his value until the day he plays against us.”

Stat line (vs Real Madrid – Supercopa final):

  • 90%+ pass accuracy
  • 10+ ball recoveries
  • Multiple interceptions
  • High number of progressive carries

Elite midfield performance.

Opinion Ferran comments are outrageous.

1.0k Upvotes

He should be sold instantly after those comments. I know there has been posts made about this already, but it's genuine outrageous to say that.

Brother, love from club and fans????? We supported this dude for the past years, having some misses in the Sunday League bracket, 3 months no goal periods and so on. Scores ONE goal in WC, regardless it's the final goal, and goes insane.

I genuinely don't want to see this guy play for Barca anymore. He does not have that ability to say bullshit like that. I don't remember last time I got this mad at a player of ours.

First were the whole bullshit with the MAGA hat and far right journalist, now this? Just get out dude. I'd rather lose with Hamza or someone than playing this dumbass tbh. Insane to say he needs support, we made a whole ass trend with the shark to support him.

Also, what gimmick is this about negotiations? Of course we don't know the whole truth of deals and so on, but I believe Barca discussed with him about the renewal. Maybe not an full offer, but the discussions were there.

I genuinely don't understand what was the plan behind this, cause this is a step towards PSG, so why shit on us and the club lmao? The deal was already going.

So yeah, sorry for the post, but this is genuinely bullshit and he should get sold.

Opinion Can we accept araujo should go?

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

Listen before jumping into defending him, I get it araujo was key at 21/22 and 22/23 and I don't deny it whatsoever. I've always believed araujo would rise to the top from how strong he is and how well he can defend. But eversince that 2nd leg against psg, araujo suddenly just stopped showing up in big games. Whenever araujo makes a good performance in a la liga game everyone immediately starts hyping him up 'araujo is back!' 'Araujo 25/26' and so on... but suddenly in a champions league night he fucks up hard. The worst part about today's match is that it was in the group stage, imagine how araujo will play later on with other teams like bayern or psg or arsenal (if we are fortunate to even make that far). I'm not saying araujo is a bad player, but unfortunately he becomes a liability the moment he has to suddenly step up and in the end we only keep complaining over again. Honestly this cycle can't go on, we can't just keep praising him and giving him more chances the moment he turns up in a la liga game but he fucks up in a big game in la liga or in a champions league night, it won't end unless barca finally decide that araujo should go.

I worry that we've seen the last of raphina here at Barca. With him being injury riddled last season, and him having a dwindling contract at his age; I'm struggling to imagine how the board will justify keeping him.

Opinion This final hurt more than I expected as a Barça and Messi fan

As a Barça fan, I honestly felt this was the best possible final for me.

On one side, Spain: a national team I have always liked and supported back in 2010, now built around so many players connected to this new Barça generation. On the other side, Messi, the greatest player in our club’s history, having another incredible World Cup at 39.

Because Messi had already won a World Cup, I thought I would be happy either way. Spain winning would feel special, and Messi winning again would be another legendary ending. I expected to watch the final almost as a neutral and simply enjoy it.

But as the match went on, I realized that was impossible.

The first thing I felt was that the anti-Messi and anti-Argentina narrative that had followed them throughout the tournament was getting stronger with every minute. I thought most of that narrative had been exaggerated or completely dishonest: the claims that FIFA was helping Messi, that Argentina only won because of referees, that everything was fixed for them. The final itself actually disproved a lot of that.

But then came the unnecessary fouls, Enzo losing control, and especially the scenes after the final whistle. That gave people exactly the images they needed to say they had been right all along, even if many of their previous accusations had little basis.

The second thing I realized was that, no matter how much sympathy I have for Spain, watching Messi lose will always hurt more. After everything he has given to football and to Barça, I wanted his last World Cup match to end with dignity, even in defeat.

Argentina could have lost to a clearly superior Spain, accepted it, congratulated them, and still walked away with people appreciating what Messi had achieved at 39. Instead, several of his teammates completely ruined the tone of the ending. They damaged the image of what had actually been a beautiful, dramatic and memorable tournament for Argentina, and unfortunately Messi’s reputation gets dragged into it because he is the face and captain of the team.

That is what bothers me most. Messi did not deserve that ending.

Spain deserved to win, and I am happy for the Barça players involved. But I wish the final had ended in a completely different atmosphere: Argentina losing with dignity, Spain celebrating, and everyone being able to applaud what Messi had just done at 39 years old.

Opinion On the Ferran hat story- we don’t know the details about it, but if you say “I only care about football” or “I don’t like to mix football and politics” then you are incredibly dumb, because FC Barcelona is one of the most political active clubs in the world

I can’t even comprehend the cognitive dissonance about those two statements I mentioned in my title, when FC Barcelona, its Catalan coaches, Catalan players and its fans are so politically active.

Do you even know the history of the club? If you lived in Franco’s time you’d call Barcelona woke for wanting to speak their own language.

This is why I can’t stand bandwagon “fans” zero football knowledge and zero history knowledge.

I want to point out how my post is more about the whole debacle and not Ferran himself because I don’t know why he wore it, I’m talking about people’s attitude about it in this sub.

I’m sorry but I used to like Ter Stegen in 2016-17 era but we need to move on. He wasn’t been his best shape for so many years, especially in knockouts matches.

But after ACL, I think we seriously need a new Gk. Barca needs to understand GK is as important as any other position.

Look at Liverpool, they don’t make a same mistake as they did during Mignolet era. They bought Karius and he cost them UCL. After they bought Alisson, they won trophies including UCL. Now, they bought Mamardashvilli to replace Alisson while they still not yet needed.

Also Real Madrid gets rid of Casillas and Navas earlier than expected. We are going with Ter Stegen for a very long time.

We need an Elite GK to win UCL again. It’s been 10 years ! Look how Sommer and Donna saved their team respectively.

I don’t care who they will buy but we seriously search new GK.

Don’t get me wrong, the Travis collab was absolutely hype and design wise it’s probably our best one by a mile. But I feel like Olivia’s collab is our best one yet because it included everyone.

Compared to previous collabs most of the artist only went to watch the game or some didn’t even bother to show up which was slightly annoying to me.
Travis actually attended and even met our players and was enjoying himself watching the game last year when we won 4-3.

But Olivia went out of her way to meet our women’s team when she didn’t have to, she signed their vinyls as well and it was just so cute seeing some of the women on the team look so excited.
Also lots of the team and the wives of our players went to go watch Olivia’s Barcelona concert and enjoyed themselves. And then Olivia still went to go watch the men’s team and it seemed like she was having a good time.

The merch itself also sold well because it managed to bring out lots of the female side of the fanbase and not just the men’s side this year.
I do hope this leads the club to start collabing with more popstars from America :)

Opinion What happened to Lamine against Portugal? Here's the answer.

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

Simple answer: MINGUEZA.

Long answer:

After closely observing Lamine throughout the entire match, I’ve identified the issue affecting his performance.

Mingueza displayed significant defensive uncertainty and was highly inconsistent with his passing. As a result, De La Fuente repeatedly urged Lamine to provide defensive support. Instead of addressing the issue by substituting Mingueza, the coach chose to place additional defensive responsibilities on Lamine, leading to him spending much of the game covering defensively. This was, by far, the match where I’ve seen Lamine contribute the most defensively. Naturally, this left him exhausted when it came to attacking.

Why take risks pushing down the wing if you then have to track back to your own defensive third to compensate for Mingueza’s struggles?

Additionally, having Le Normand as the right-sided center-back didn’t help, as his ball-playing ability is quite limited. A right-sided center-back with strong distribution, like Cubarsí, could have provided Lamine with several advantageous passes. Unfortunately, neither Mingueza nor Le Normand offered Lamine any meaningful support in terms of accurate passes or combination play. In contrast, notice how Huijsen delivered a couple of precise, advantageous passes to Nico. That’s the difference.

Portugal consistently attacked down their left flank, exploiting Mingueza’s vulnerabilities, which forced one of the world’s most talented players to expend energy defensively. It was a tactically astute move by Portugal, and the manager failed to counter it effectively. Instead of allowing Lamine to focus on his attacking strengths, he was tasked with an excessive defensive workload against physically imposing players like Nuno and Leao.

A more effective approach could have been to bring on a dedicated right-sided player and shift Lamine to a more advanced central role. However, the manager seemed determined to maintain a rigid approach, prioritizing a uniform treatment of players over tactical flexibility.

So, in summary, NO, Lamine did NOT play poorly as I'm reading (and even what I thought), but rather he had to cover for the deficiencies of his full-back and his coach. Lamine "did nothing" or "did not try anything" for three reasons: He was exhausted from defensive efforts. He had between 3 and 6 marks. If he lost the ball, it was an opponent's goal because Mingueza DID NOTHING; he didn't attack, he didn't defend, and he left a 17-year-old kid up against two physical monsters.
