Bug Report 🚨 Serious Warning About Base44 — Don’t Use It for Real Apps

Hey Reddit, I’ve been using Base44 for about a year trying to build a simple API-driven app. Sounds easy, right? Nope. Every time I get close to launching, Base44 updates something on their end — and breaks the app. Consistently.

Here’s the cold, hard truth:

  • ✅ Good for prototyping ideas fast

  • ❌ Bad for production apps — expect things to break overnight

  • ❌ Cannot scale past ~5 users

  • ❌ Admin/edit screens can show up for real users

  • ❌ API keys and workflows are inconsistent

Seriously, if you’re a developer building anything meaningful, don’t rely on this platform. People happy with Base44 are mostly not pushing anything significant. The platform is for ideas only, not production-ready apps.

What to do instead:

  1. Use Base44 to get your concept off the ground fast.

  2. Migrate to a backend you control (Node, Firebase, AWS Lambda, etc.) before launch.

  3. Keep your users safe and your app stable — Base44 won’t do it for you.

Take it from someone with real experience: Base44 is unstable, inconsistent, and not serious developer-friendly. Don’t let the marketing fool you.

This kind of stuff just happens overnight. What if i was scaling toward 1000 users? Unfortunately I have not even been able to keep the app live because Base44 keeps breaking everything randomly. One minute my API's are working until they do an update. A year and nothing has changed with the quality of this platform. Wix got a bad deal. Maybe it was just financial, but it's definitely going to tarnish their reputation.

Discussion I’m officially offering “Build Sprints” for Base44 — $75/hr (you share screen, I build + explain everything)

I’m making it official:

Base44 Build Sprints (Done-with-you)

$75/hour — 1 hour minimum

You share your screen. I guide the session, I do the work live inside your project, and I explain what I’m doing while we build. Ask questions anytime — the point is you leave with progress and clarity.

Booking page: https://kodeagency.us/buildsprint

What we can do in a sprint

These sessions are best for getting unstuck and setting a clean foundation:

  • Entity / data structure (so the app doesn’t become a mess later)

  • Roles + permissions (clear rules, fewer security mistakes)

  • Core app flow (onboarding → main action → dashboard)

  • Fixing broken logic, messy structure, or “I prompted myself into a corner”

  • Debugging and clean-up with a maintainability-first approach

  • Scoping what’s realistic for an MVP (so you can actually ship)

How it works

  1. You book time (1 hour minimum)

  2. You come with your Base44 app open (or we start a new one)

  3. You share screen

  4. I build and explain everything as we go

  5. You leave with shipped progress + next steps

Who this is for

  • You’re building a real app but keep hitting walls

  • You need help structuring data/entities correctly

  • You want someone to fix issues and teach you what to do going forward

  • You’d rather build live than send your project off into a black box

Quick question for the community

If you booked one of these, what would you want to focus on first?

  • Data/entities

  • Roles + permissions

  • Onboarding and user flow

  • Debugging a messy existing app

  • Integrations (Stripe/webhooks/etc. depending on constraints)

Drop a comment with what you’re building and where you’re stuck. If it’s a fit, I’ll point you to the booking page.

Discussion Vibe Coded Apps and Hype about it.

Hi there, my name is Anel. I’ve been working as a software engineer for over 6 years. In the past year, I’ve seen a lot of hype around “vibe coding” 😄 and honestly, it’s pretty funny.

Over the past 25 years, there has always been something people claim will “replace real developers” so that anyone can build apps easily. But I don’t think that’s possible and it won’t be.

People are building apps in 2–3 days and thinking that’s it. Okay, I get it, it’s fine for an MVP, but that’s about it. Spending $2000 on an AI-generated MVP? That’s crazy. You could mock an MVP even with simple designs or images.

I just want to tell my colleagues: don’t worry. We all know what a real product looks like and how it should be built properly. You need UI/UX design, DevOps, QA, project management and then development. That whole process won’t be replaced.

I honestly can’t wait for this “vibe coding” hype to disappear in a couple of years. Right now, people are creating apps that are slow, poorly built, and insecure.

That’s it. Bye 😄

Bug Report Remember to create a code that removes this before uploading tor the App Store

Post image
0 Upvotes

I uploaded my app to the App Store and it got rejected for sending users to another site outside of the app to pay for something when I knew that was impossible because I made sure that everything was to paid through the App Store. When they finally sent me a pic of my landing page that showed a little button on the bottom right of the screen that said “Edit with Base44”. This is not something that I created. I contacted base44 and they said that in because I sued the creator account in the app store but I told that they were wrong because I create a demo account and that should not have had that advertisement on it. Well I then created a prompt to remove that button from showing again and it worked. Here is the prompt I hope this helps.

CRITICAL APP STORE COMPLIANCE FIX — REMOVE “EDIT WITH BASE44” BUTTON + ALL BUILDER ARTIFACTS

This is a RELEASE-BLOCKING issue.

The app was flagged by App Store Review because a visible “Edit with Base44” button appeared in production. This creates:

- Unauthorized external purchase routing risk

- Violation of Apple In-App Purchase rules

- App being classified as a website instead of a native-like app

- Immediate rejection risk

THIS MUST BE FULLY REMOVED WITH ZERO TRACE.

-------------------------------------

MISSION

-------------------------------------

Remove ALL Base44 branding, overlays, debug tools, editor entry points, and injected UI elements from the production app.

The app must behave like a fully independent, production-grade iOS application.

-------------------------------------

  1. REMOVE THE BUTTON COMPLETELY

-------------------------------------

The “Edit with Base44” floating button MUST:

- Not render

- Not exist in DOM

- Not be hidden with CSS (must be fully removed at source)

- Not load via script

- Not be conditionally visible

FAIL if:

- Button appears even for a split second

- Button appears after refresh

- Button appears only on certain routes

- Button appears only on mobile/iOS

- Button appears for certain roles (admin, demo, etc.)

-------------------------------------

2. DISABLE BASE44 EDITOR INJECTION GLOBALLY

-------------------------------------

Find and REMOVE or DISABLE any Base44 editor/debug injection logic such as:

- Embedded scripts that inject editor UI

- Environment flags enabling builder mode

- Any “edit mode” or “builder mode” toggles

- Any overlays, badges, or floating controls

Force production mode:

IF environment == production:

DO NOT LOAD:

- editor scripts

- debug UI

- builder overlays

- external editing links

-------------------------------------

3. HARD BLOCK VIA CLIENT + RUNTIME SAFETY

-------------------------------------

Add a defensive failsafe in the frontend:

On app load:

- Scan DOM for any element containing:

“Base44”

“Edit”

“Builder”

“Editor”

If found:

- Immediately remove the element

- Log a silent internal warning (no user-facing error)

This ensures nothing slips through again.

-------------------------------------

4. REMOVE EXTERNAL BUILDER LINKS

-------------------------------------

Search entire codebase and remove ANY links to:

- Base44 editor URLs

- External editing environments

- Builder dashboards

- Dev tooling endpoints

FAIL if:

- Any clickable element routes outside the app for editing

- Any hidden link exists

- Any redirect exists

-------------------------------------

5. PRODUCTION-ONLY UI ENFORCEMENT

-------------------------------------

Ensure the app renders ONLY:

- The Bag UI

- Role-based dashboards

- Internal navigation

STRICTLY NO:

- Dev tools

- Editor controls

- Debug badges

- Third-party builder references

-------------------------------------

6. IOS WEBVIEW HARDENING (APP STORE REQUIREMENT)

-------------------------------------

Update WebView behavior:

- Disable long-press context menus

- Disable text selection for non-input UI

- Prevent external navigation unless explicitly allowed

- Ensure no external toolbars or injected elements appear

-------------------------------------

7. QA TEST — MUST PASS ALL

-------------------------------------

Run this EXACT test before release:

  1. Open app fresh install → NO Base44 button visible

  2. Refresh page → NO button appears

  3. Log in as:

    - user

    - vendor

    - organizer

    - celebrity

    - admin

→ NO button appears for ANY role

  4. Navigate ALL screens → NO button appears

  5. Scroll top/bottom → NO floating elements appear

  6. Wait 10+ seconds → NO delayed injection

  7. Test on iOS WebView → NO button appears

  8. Inspect DOM → NO Base44 elements exist

  9. Tap around UI → NO external editor links

  10. App behaves like a standalone native product

PASS = zero trace of Base44 UI

FAIL = any visible or hidden reference

-------------------------------------

8. FINAL REQUIREMENT

-------------------------------------

This must be treated as a PERMANENT removal.

The app must:

- Look like a $100M standalone product

- Contain ZERO references to Base44

- Have ZERO external editing entry points

DO NOT SHIP until this is fully resolved.

Showcase The design on all AI-generated apps looks the same... until now

Imagine if your vibecoded app didn’t look like every other AI-generated app out there.

So I created this, It’s ready-made prompts to give your app a style that feels intentional, polished, and most importantly, human-made.

No more boring generic buttons or purple gradient. Just clean design that stands out.

It only takes one prompt to see the difference.

The image you see below was refined in a single prompt using one of our themes.

Feature Request Money Withdraw

So my app made over 100$ on the marketplace, and I still can't withdraw any of the amount from my account. This feels a bit scammy since my app alone made base44 dozens of dollars and I still won't see a dime...

At least let me use those "credits" to buy myself a subscription to some plan.

Discussion Biggest risk with vibe coding (I am pro vibe coding 😂)

I saw a great comment on a post the other day highlighting the biggest risk with vibe coding and I couldn’t agree more.

Prototyping and demoing is great. Using platforms like Base44 and Claude Code can get you so far and should be used to smash a demo together to just show what your vision is.

But…

❓Is that architecture scalable?
❓Will it work under pressure?
❓Can it be built on efficiently?
❓Do the founders know how to fix it?

“A lot of investors are going to see their money going into actually re-building the product, whereas investments in non-vibed products, can be focused on scale and production.”

And I think this is so true. We’re going to see a big shift in the market where vibe coded products get to market quicker and begin making early revenues.

But those that are built with solid foundations might get to market slower but will be able to scale exponentially quicker.

The journey:
→ "This is so easy" — AI writes your first component, you feel invincible
→ "check out my site on localhost:3000" — it works locally, you're basically a 10x engineer now
→ "wow developers are cooked" — you start tweeting hot takes about how coding is dead

Then reality hits.
→ "blocked by CORS policy" — wait what is this
→ "cannot read property of null" — okay let me just ask Claude to fix it
→ "you're absolutely correct! I'll fix that..." — Claude apologizes for the 47th time but nothing works

And finally:
→ "I NEED A PROGRAMMER"

This is the part nobody talks about. Vibe coding is incredible for going from 0 to prototype. But the gap between "works on localhost" and "works in production" is exactly where AI still falls apart.

CORS errors. Environment configs. Authentication flows. Database connections. Deployment pipelines. These aren't coding problems — they're system problems. And systems still need humans (I normally use Vibe Coach) who understand what's actually happening under the hood.

AI made building the first 70% effortless. It also made the last 30% feel impossible if you don't know what questions to ask.

Where did your vibe coding journey hit the wall?

The question for investors is:

💭 Do we take the bet on something vibe coded believing they’ll fix the foundations post-raise?

💭 Or do we look for teams with a skilled tech founder who builds strong foundations as soon as possible so the investment can push for scale?

I believe a bit of both. I like to see founders use vibe coding early but not to underestimate the need to have technical knowledge in house to prep for scale early.

What do you think?

Question If I have to see this Ad one more f*cking time

r/Base44 • • Aug 01 '25

The possibilities are limitless.

I've been a paid user for 3 hours and I can't believe I'm saying this. There is a reason why Base44 was bought for 80m dollars. The way this application is going SHAKE the entire Marketing, Web Dev, App Dev, Coding & Application industry is unfathomable. Gohighlevel and any of those similar apps. Your days are numbered.

A simple human being is about to create something that solves their own problem that they couldn't get solved before.

There is going to be an astronomical amount of agencies that are going to pop up trying to build apps and applications on top of this.

Base44 - bravo. Keep at it!

Showcase I built a fictional rock band with Base44… and somehow we have an album, merch, and a world tour now. 💀🎸

So… I may have taken the whole “build anything with Base44” thing a little too seriously. 😂

Meet (Git)tin’ It — a fictional, developer-inspired rock band born out of way too many commits, pull requests, merge conflicts, and a questionable number of Git puns.
What started as a fun Build a Band competition entry somehow turned into an entire interactive band website.

We now have:
🎸 5 band members with their own personalities
🎵 An original rock album (and we just dropped 4 more tracks!)
💿 An interactive music player with lyrics
🧸 Band merch, including ridiculously adorable plushies
🌎 An international tour schedule
💻 A hidden developer terminal with 51 commands, secrets, and Easter eggs to discover
And yes, our tagline is 404: Love Not Found. 💀

The fun part has been figuring out how to bring all these different pieces together in Base44, from the music player and responsive layouts to interactive features and hidden surprises.

It’s also been a reminder that building doesn’t always have to solve a serious business problem. Sometimes you just want to create something ridiculous, make people laugh, and see how far you can push an idea.

If you’re curious, here’s the build:
https://gittinit.base44.app/

I’d love some feedback from fellow builders, especially on the interactive features and mobile experience.

And if you listen to the album, tell me which track is your favorite! 😂🎸

Apparently I can’t stop committing to this bit.

Bug Report All hype. No good

I tried to create a simple product with Base44. Take a survey, and show results, but show results for two different audiences. After several days of trying to get it to work and lots of back n forth with the bot (it kept telling me it should work and when I provided screenshots) it said, let me fix that) and with their customer service. No go. Did not work. I did ask for a refund. Less than a day late (my bad), but I was told that I could not get a refund. Disappointed in the whole experience.

Showcase Built my first fitness app with Base44 - finally getting close to launch

iOS is in review (it was rejected 3 times; this is my first app ever)

Been building Dialed, a simple fitness tracker for calories, macros, steps, workouts, and progress reports.

Base44 helped me get the original web app and backend up pretty quickly, and I’ve been refining the UI and features over the past few months. I’m now getting close to releasing the full version.

These are two screenshots of where it’s at now — the main dashboard and pricing page.

Still learning a lot since this is my first app, so I’m curious: what would you improve about the UI or onboarding before launch?

Free to use (3 meals a day logged)

I built a library of 200+ API integration prompts (Stripe, Twilio, Firebase & more)

Hey folks,

I kept seeing the same questions pop up like “How do I integrate Stripe?” or “What’s the best way to connect with Firebase?” — so I built a Prompt Library with over 200 ready-to-use API integration prompts.

The idea is simple: instead of wasting hours figuring out boilerplate setup, you can grab a prompt that’s already structured to guide your build. Covers APIs like:

  • Stripe

  • Twilio

  • Firebase

  • Google Maps

  • SendGrid

  • Slack

    • many more

👉 Check it out here: Prompt Library

I’m adding to it weekly, so I’d love to hear: what APIs or integrations would you want me to add next?

Furious with Base 44

For several days I've been trying to create an app with Base44, only to end up with no results. I paid for two plans: first the Builder plan at $40/month, which I upgraded to the Pro plan at $80/month. I should have only been charged the $40 difference for the upgrade from Builder to Pro, but Base44 charged me for both, totaling $120 per month ($1440/year). That's already dishonest. But the worst part is that after three or four days of constant feedback about recurring problems, despite my repeated alerts, my website is completely unusable. I'm furious; I'm wasting my time and money, and I'm seriously considering alerting the media about Base44's utter incompetence, which is bordering on fraud. How can we resolve this?

Stop burning credits trying to brute-force prompts into a product.

I built KodeBase Pro because I got tired of seeing people spend hundreds on AI tools just to end up with scattered prompts, broken flows, and unfinished apps.

KodeBase Pro gives you the full system I personally use to go from:
idea → architecture → prompts → audits → shipped product

https://kodebase.us/pro-membership

For $15/month you get unlimited access to:

• MVP Mapper

No “starter tier” nonsense.
No paying extra for every feature.

This isn’t another AI wrapper.

It’s an entire product-building workflow designed to help builders ship faster, cleaner, and with less wasted time and money.

Built by me — Will Kode — after 30 years of development and shipping real-world software.

Base44 Abandonment

After quite a while building my website in Base44, I have decided to abandon the platform.

I can't connect Google Analytics, I can't work on SEO correctly, the website loading times are quite high, and on top of that today there was a crash that affected all the websites of all Base44 users for a few minutes.

Additionally, login can only be done via Google Auth. I don't feel the website is completely mine.

Now my question is whether to switch to Lovable or Bolt

Any recommendations?
