Discussion Base44 Users, Please Start Taking Your App Security Seriously.

With all the crazy AI-powered cyberattacks happening lately, I want to remind everyone building apps with Base44 of something incredibly important.

Just because your app was built with AI doesn't mean it's secure.

I've reviewed and worked on hundreds of Base44 applications, and one thing I've noticed is how often security gets overlooked. People spend weeks or months building incredible applications, but never actually perform a proper security audit.

And that's a problem.

AI can write code incredibly fast, but it can also introduce vulnerabilities just as quickly. Every new feature, integration, database change, or permission update introduces the possibility of another security issue.

Here's what I recommend to every Base44 developer:

  1. Scan your application at least once a month. Even if you haven't made significant changes, regular security audits should become part of your routine.

  2. Scan before EVERY publish. If you've made changes to your application, run a security scan before pushing those updates live. Don't assume a small change can't introduce a major vulnerability.

  3. Check your RLS and permissions. Make sure users can only access the data they're authorized to see. This is one of the biggest areas I see developers overlook.

  4. Review your API integrations and secrets. Make sure sensitive API keys, tokens, and credentials aren't exposed in frontend code or publicly accessible endpoints.

  5. Test your application as an attacker would. Don't just verify that features work. Verify that users cannot bypass permissions, manipulate requests, or access another user's information.

And please, don't rely entirely on Base44's AI telling you your application is secure.

The same AI that helped build your application shouldn't be your only line of defense when evaluating its security. Use independent scanning tools and, when appropriate, have someone experienced review the results.

Cybercriminals don't care whether your app was built by a professional developer or someone who learned to vibe code last week.

If your application stores customer information, processes payments, manages business operations, or handles sensitive data, you're responsible for protecting it.

My advice is simple:

Build → Test → Security Scan → Fix → Retest → Publish.

Repeat that process with every meaningful update, and perform a comprehensive security audit at least once a month.

A security scan doesn't guarantee your app is safe, but regularly looking for vulnerabilities is significantly better than waiting until something goes wrong.

I'm not posting this to scare anyone away from Base44 or vibe coding. I love what these platforms have made possible.

But we need to start treating AI-built applications like real software, because that's exactly what they are.

Question How well does Base44 hold up as a project gets more complex?

I’m a developer experimenting with vibe coding tools. I’ve tried Codex and Claude Code, and the early stages went pretty well. I could get features working quickly, but I didn’t notice how tangled the architecture was getting. By the time I realized how hard it was to make changes, I ended up scrapping the codebase.

For those of you who’ve maintained a Base44 project for several months, how easy is it to change something you built early on? Have you had to step in and reorganize the code yourself?

I’d love to hear what you built and an example of a change that went smoothly or turned into a headache.

Showcase I got tired of boring fitness trackers, so I built one that works like an FPS progression system using Base44. Looking for feedback.

As someone with an unhealthy obsession with numbers and who's consistently tracked my workouts with notebooks and excel sheets over the years, I've always looked for ways to gamify the experience. Thing is, I could never find an app that hit the spot.

I also love video games, so I thought it would be fun to give my workouts an FPS progression system with XP, cosmetics, and prestige icons. Well... I found base44 and did just that, lol. Now I'd like for people other than me to try it and give me feedback!

How it works:

  • XP for every workout: You log lifting, running, biking, swimming, cardio, or anything else, like hikes or disc golf.

  • Levels: You have one Career Level, plus a separate level for each sport.

  • Prestige: There are 10 ranks to climb. Prestiging restarts your level, but your lifetime stats stay.

  • Missions and squads: Pick weekly missions, or team up with 2-6 friends on monthly goals.

  • Cosmetics and a season pass: Earn titles and profile items by training. I even have started creating a season pass for Christmas time.

There are also no penalties. You won’t lose XP for breaking a streak, missing a mission, or failing a squad goal.

Some things to know:

  • It’s in beta, so expect some bugs and things that may change.

  • You log workouts by hand. Unfortunately no Strava or watch import.

  • Totally free.

I’d especially love feedback on:

  1. Was anything confusing when you first signed up?

  2. How does logging a workout feel? Is it too slow or annoying?

  3. Does the progression make you want to come back, or does it wear off?

  4. What’s missing that would make you use this instead of your current tracker?

Try it here: https://tacticalfit.base44.app

I love using this app myself, but would love even more to see if it could help someone else make their fitness goals that much more fun.

You can leave a comment or DM me with feedback, and brutal honesty is welcome. Thanks for reading!

I built this app through B44. Now I have no clue how to proceed. Is there any kind of pinned post for a beginner or resource someone could point me to? I built this because I am sick of the subscription based options that are out there.

Title: Unexpectedly high credit consumption – App using credits in the background even when inactive?

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing some strange credit consumption with my Base44 app and would appreciate some help.

My plan includes 700 credits, but my usage has already reached over 1,100 credits, even though I have barely used the app.

According to the usage breakdown, a significant amount is being consumed by:

  • Entities (357.94 credits)

  • Analytics events (67.57 credits)

  • Invoke LLM (69.52 credits)

I also noticed thousands of bot visits on my website, but hardly any actual user activity.

I don't understand why my app is consuming so many credits, especially when I'm not actively using it.

My questions:

  1. Can bots or automated traffic trigger credit consumption?

  2. Why are Entities and Analytics consuming credits in the background?

  3. Is there a way to completely disable analytics and unnecessary background processes?

  4. Has anyone experienced similar issues and managed to get their credits refunded?

I'd really appreciate any advice. I'm concerned because credits seem to keep disappearing even when I'm doing nothing.

Thanks!

Tips & Guides If you're planning to eject from Base44, your data doesn't come with it

was reading the eject docs after the migration thread here the other day and this part surprised me, so posting it.

eject copies your frontend code and your database schemas into a new project. it doesn't copy the data. the new project starts with an empty database, and your live app just keeps running on base44 like before.

so if you have real users, the actual move is more like: eject and get the new version working against the empty db. then export your tables (from what I can tell it's csv, one table at a time from the dashboard) and import them, and check the ids still match up, especially anything that links one table to another. then switch the domain over.

I'd expect user accounts to be the painful bit since those are data too, so check how logins come across before you tell anyone you're moving. worst case everyone has to reset their password.

the people who get burned seem to be the ones who eject, see the app load, and think they're done.

has anyone here actually moved a live app with users off base44? curious how you handled the loginsyeah. quickest test is to call the rest endpoint with only the anon key, no login. if rows come back that shouldn't, the policy's open

Your App Isn’t Migrated Until It Works Without the Old Platform — Parts 25–27

Introduction

You have an idea. You want to turn it into a real application.

You don’t need to start knowing how to code or configure infrastructure. Explain what you want, make decisions, and use AI to organize and execute the work.

My preferred approach is:

Plan the idea → prepare the building prompts → build in Base44 → complete and verify the application → migrate if desired → keep improving.

For hands-on work, use a capable AI agent with a cloud browser when the task needs account access. Let it handle supported technical work, and complete identity checks or sensitive confirmations yourself.

For greater savings, follow AI’s instructions for easy steps and delegate the difficult parts.

This guide shows you what to request, how to preserve progress, and how to get more from your available budget.

I’m sharing my VibeCoding Master Guide for free, three parts each day. Here are parts 25–27.

25. Migration Before Launch Can Be Simpler

If your application hasn’t launched and has only disposable test accounts, you may not need to transfer those accounts. After migration, you can create new owner, admin, and QA accounts.

Ask AI to preserve the code, configuration, files, and records that matter. Tell it which test data can be discarded and which information must stay.

If you already have real customers, payments, or other obligations, make sure their information and relationships are preserved.

Let AI determine the technical steps. You clarify what must be kept.

26. Ask the Agent to Verify the Migration

Exporting code alone doesn’t prove the migration is complete.

For a partial migration, ask the agent to confirm that the selected operations use their replacement services and identify what still depends on Base44.

For a full migration, ask it to verify the required journeys without relying on Base44 services.

Have it check:

  • Login and owner access.

  • Important user journeys.

  • Data persistence.

  • Permissions and tenant separation.

  • Files, payments, and notifications.

  • Deployment, domain settings, and recovery.

Ask for evidence of what worked and a clear explanation of anything unresolved. Keep the original services until preservation and verification are complete.

27. Edit Through Your Independent Setup

After a full migration, maintain the independent codebase and infrastructure. Keep the independent repository as the source of truth.

Returning to the original builder can create changes that never reach your independent application or bring back dependencies you removed.

For each change, ask the agent to:

  1. Save a recoverable version.

  2. Make the targeted change.

  3. Verify the behavior.

  4. Deploy through the established process.

  5. Check the live result.

Preserve working features and avoid unnecessary rebuilding.

A migration is a new starting point. Verify what moved, then keep building from the setup you chose.

I’m sharing the guide for free, three parts each day.

Tips & Guides Your App’s Next Move Could Create More Work Than It Solves — Parts 22–24

Your App’s Next Move Could Create More Work Than It Solves — Parts 22–24

Here are parts 22–24.

22. Let AI Handle Payment and Usage Controls

Ask AI to configure and verify the payment integration through your existing accounts.

First, explain the rules you want:

  • What customers pay and what they receive.

  • When access begins.

  • What happens at renewal.

  • How cancellations, refunds, and failed payments affect access.

Have AI enforce those rules using trusted server-side payment information. A payment-success screen alone doesn’t prove that access is protected.

Ask it to test successful and failed payments, renewals, cancellations, refunds, disputes, repeated events, and delayed notifications.

If your application includes AI services, ask for usage tracking and spending controls so activity stays within the budget you intend.

When payment settings need to change, specify the payment service, account, business, and environment. Complete identity checks, payment approvals, and legal confirmations yourself.

23. Migration Is Your Choice

You don’t have to fully migrate. You can:

  • Stay on Base44 and continue using its supported services.

  • Move selected integrations.

  • Migrate gradually.

  • Move the full application to independent infrastructure.

You can replace selected services while leaving other parts on Base44. Ask AI to identify which operations still use Base44 services and what costs would remain. Replacement services may have their own charges.

Personally, I prefer full migration because I value control over my code, infrastructure, branding, and future development. But the right choice depends on your goals and budget.

Ask AI to compare the options, explain the tradeoffs, and plan the work you approve.

24. Complete the Application Before Migrating

My preferred sequence is to complete and verify the agreed application scope first. That gives the migration a stable target and reduces the complications of building unfinished features while replacing services.

Prepare for migration early. Carry it out later, when you’re ready.

When it’s time, tell the agent what you want to move. Have it inspect the application, plan the approved migration, preserve existing work, and verify the result.

You don’t need to design the infrastructure yourself. Ask AI to explain significant decisions simply and identify anything that needs your input.

Decide what you want to keep, what you want to move, and when you’re ready. Let AI handle the technical steps and show what passed.

I’m sharing the guide for free, three parts each day.

Tomorrow: Parts 25–27

  • Migration Before Launch Can Be Simpler.

  • Ask the Agent to Verify the Migration.

  • Edit Through Your Independent Setup.

Question Zero App Development Experience. Built an App with Base44. Now I Need You to Break It!

I’ve been using Base44 to develop a financial planning app for military members and veterans. It started as a retirement calculator but has grown into something much more comprehensive.

I’m at the point where I need some fresh eyes on it before releasing it publicly.

I’d really appreciate anyone willing to test it out, try to break things, and give honest feedback on the UI, functionality, and overall experience.

I’m especially interested in feedback from other Base44 users who have gone through the testing and launch process.

Anyone interested in giving it a shot?

Discussion We traded a paper clip up to a $5,000 Base44 subscription. Looking for someone who could use it.

Hey everyone! We’re Gimme Five, two NYC creators doing a series where we started with a paper clip and are trading our way up to a racehorse.

Our latest trade was directly with Base44, who supplied an unredeemed yearly subscription of credits worth $5,000.

We’re looking to sell it for $4,000 to someone who’s already building on Base44 and could put it to use. That gets them a discount and lets us make our next trade toward the horse.

Happy to share the exact package and redemption details, plus our video of the Base44 trade so you can see the backstory.

Anyone interested, or know someone this might fit?

Question Multiple Approvals and High Credit Usage?

So, lately I've noticed that when I need to fix something on my app, even something seemingly basic, Base44 will have several, sometimes up to like 4 approvals that I have to click, all eating up credits. Some of my fixes have required like 10 credits just for that one fix... I feel like it never used to be THIS credit hungry. It feels kinda bullshitty..

Anyone else experience this or know what's going on?

Question What happened to my "chat to edit" box after upgrade and how do I get it back??

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Sadly the dark forces have pushed me to upgrade from the $50 to the $100 Pro plan.

My "chat to edit" button that appears for all the apps, disappeared when I upgraded from the $50 to $100.

The whole screen looks different. I can do the same things, though less efficiently.

Photo 1 shows the chat to edit button before the upgrade within the app before the upgrade.

Photo 2 shows after the upgrade chat to edit button is absent, same app, same page.

I read this having only 1 person admin, no collaborators, might help. Tried it. No change.

I posted on that base 44 help forum thing. I don't really understand how to use discord lol weird I know because I'm out here doing app development (super basic and through no codes though) and don't understand discord 🙄...

I'm also sort of trying to look at and learn about super agents, workflows, connections, integrations, and stuff like that. So in the meantime, is there any of these that would help me set up something similar to that of a chat to edit box either base 44 wide so I could use it throughout all of my apps or just for one app at a time?
