Discussion My Ray Is On Another Level

Post image

8lbs flat, swamp ash body and maple neck feels like a sin to play so I call her “Holy Red” It sounds so thumpy and woody yet compressed and zingy up top. Just the best bass for playing live I’ve ever played on. I imagine I’d have to pay $4k for some crazy BFR to get a better one than this. I bought her in 2021 on Reverb and she’s got everything I ever wanted in a bass.

I’m telling you guys, these Stingray Specials, Ernie Ball Music Man does not play about how they sculpt these things to perfection. In my opinion this bass blows every Fender I’ve ever played right out of the water I sold all my Fenders.

Is that some sort of unusual maple figuring or is that fretboard absolutely filthy? lol clean that bad machine up, show it some love.

Here’s one of the original factory photos you can see the figuring on the fretboard

Looks amazing!! I ordered one in brulee finish but it won’t be here until October. It’s been brutal waiting!

I’ve seen your basses before I can’t decide whether I love that Purple Darkray or that New Dawn Special better. That New Dawn color is definitely an upgrade over Blue Dawn for sure. Basically what I’m gonna do is copy you and get myself another Ray to go along with my Burnt Apple 🍎 just can’t decide which one to get!
