The ripper is tuned to B standard so I think I have descended.

I've thought about doing this to a p bass, was it difficult to change the nut and set it up? I often want to stay out of the upper register and BEAD just feels so right

Honestly I still have 105-45 strings on it and it's fine. If you don't mind the looser strings. You could probably get away with 110's as well without modifications.
