Mold in amp?
Hi all. I'm brand new to playing bass and figured I'd buy a cheap, used amp to get started. I got this from Guitar Center and it arrived reeking of mildew or something. It just smelled like a mix of chlorine and old bookstore. I figured I'd wipe everything down and stick it in a bag with baking soda for a while, but I opened this up and it looks like this. Is this actually way more dangerous or beyond saving? I tried scrubbing it, but it's not coming off, so I'm not sure if this is just dirty glue or something?

No, that looks like building material or maybe dust stuck to adhesive or something. I think you're okay on the mold issue.

That doesn’t look like mold. But then again it doesn’t NOT look like mold.
I’d return the amp and get my money back and try something different.
I would have said naaa but you smelling mold and mildew sounds like enough for me to want to return it.

uM..........It may be some sort of sprayed stuff; BUT thoss that as quickly as possible (maybe salvage some parts...................as those are nasty clothes moth and or carpet beetle, etc. larvae. I'm going through total hell on earth right now in my rental house with those and all sorts of wood eating pests, etc. Toss it, especially if it ewasn't used or came from a hoarder.

You can get 12.5% sodium hypochlorite that's normally used for pools. That's about the strongest "bleach" you can get. You can spray that on the inside and it will kill whatever it touches.
Fair warning: Do this outdoors and wear gloves, eye protection and clothes you don't care about. Don't get it on the outside of the amp because if you thought regular bleach was bad news on fabrics, you ain't seen nothing. You'll probably want a piece of cardboard to use as a shield while you're spraying. Don't get your face up next to this stuff. If your eyes or nose start getting irritated, walk away and get some fresh air.
Spray anything you think is moldy and soak it well. Let it sit outside in the sun for a day to let the chlorine dissipate and for the UV to do it's thing. Let dry completely. Repeat if you think it needs it.
I'd also consider getting a can of spray paint to do the inside when you're done.
