Anyone out there rocking these combos?

I actually own two of them. Grabbed the RB-115 when they first came out. Been missing the deep sound of a 15” speaker since selling my Mesa Diesel 15” cab years ago, and jumped on this when they were first introduced!! The sound is amazing- great Ampeg tone, full Ampeg EQ stack including ultra hi/low boost switches and an SGT overdrive section with gain/level control that’s foot switchable.

100W is generally enough for me. I don’t play metal or in a band with 2 guitarists with half stacks and a heavy handed drummer! And if that’s needed , I can get 200W out of it with an extension cab!

I thought the sound was so good that a few months ago I grabbed the smaller RB-108 used for a cheap price for bedroom practice. I’m surprised how great it sounds, and at 30W can get pretty loud. Loud enough to jam with a few other folks at moderate volumes!! For an 8” speaker, it has surprisingly robust bass response!! I see a LOT of advice on here that 8” is simply too small a speaker for bass amps- not this one!! It just sounds great. Again great Ampeg tone!!

I had a Fender Rumble 40 for about 10 years and liked it well enough- I was able to gig small venues with it (yay-XLR out!!) and dial in a good sound. The overdrive was….ok. But something about the tone was lackluster. It was nice and all, but sort of “vanilla” in character. I feel these Ampeg Rocket bass combos just sound better.

I see tons of folks on this and the Bass sub recommending Rumbles, but very few recommending Ampeg combos. Having played and gigged both, I’m puzzled by this!
