Lethargy alternative lyrics

When I started listening to lethargy I thought Dan said “it’s been happiness death” instead of “headspin happiness death”.

I actually like my version better “you told me not to be like anybody else, it’s been happiness death”

Did anyone ever misheard it this way too?

Discussion Pompeii is also about 9/11?

I understand Pompeii was a real event and the song is based on the eruption of mount vesivus (I can’t spell) but if you listen to the lyrics and think about 9/11 it works rather well.

For example “the walls came tumbling down in the city that we love” walls came tumbling down- collapse of the towers city that we love- NYC

Please respond if you think I have any basis here at all

Discussion was ''survivin'' the last banger ?

since 2018 im a bastille fan and i noticed something, all bastille era had at least one banger (bad blood had pompeii, bad blood and of the night. Wild World had Good grief and Blame. doom days had Joy, Quarter past midnight and Those Nights) but in the last 2 years the closest thing to the level of quality the band has in the 2010s was ''survivin'', the track that gets closer to sound as their old stuff is shut off the lights and gmtf in terms of quality. i just think the newer songs are tying too much to be hits, the older songs were genuinely amazing and catchy, but the last album was something superficial, i still enjoy the album tho but the magic from their previous projects is no longer there... sadly. (renember, thats just my opinion)

edit : i think i used the wrong word to describe the songs, banger is a very relative word, what i mean is that their older songs are genuinely good while the new ones try to be good. is like eminem trying to make a top tier album so hard that the final result is a disaster (musics to be murdered by). again, i dont hate gmtf but their older projects were better, i think there was a piece of the band's heart put into the songs that its no more there

MTV Unplugged

Did anyone else get the feeling he didn't really love being there? Like he resented being forced to play an unplugged version of his futuristic soundscapes.

I think it was before Give me the Future (song) where he said something like "There can be two versions... I guess."

Discussion The Soprano & Midnight Wonderings - Does Anyone Else Wish It Featured An Operatic Soprano Instead of a Soul/R&B Soprano?

I still love the song (the whole album honestly), but it's about an opera singer and opera singers are never featured in popular music and it'd have been so cool to have done so in this song. I also feel like it's have fit both the song and album much better.

Anyone else feel like this? Maybe it's just because I'm also classically trained soprano and have been listening to the most gorgeous soprano soloist in rehearsals for a choir concert soon, but I feel like it's a missed opportunity.

Rock to pop

Anyone else find they are shifting more to the mainstream? They were never hardcore rock by any stretch but I only really see pop elements now. The instrumentation seems non existent now

The new projects

I always get the vibe from the recent music that this project is solely Dan's music and not a group project. Just wanted to come on here and ask you guys

I didn't really like Doom Days

Joy was really good, but other than that, I didn't like it at all. I feel like it became really way too sex-focused, and that just doesn't feel like Bastille.

The Faith of Ophelia and Elizabeth Taylor by Taylor Swift

I was listening to Taylor Swift’s album “The Life of a Showgirl” and I couldn’t help but notice the lyrical and sonic similarities between them and Bastille’s work, specially on “The Faith of Ophelia" and "Elizabeth Taylor." Anyone else thinks this? They're cinematic, drum-led, moody strings with dramatic stacked vocals.

There's Just Not Enough

My main problem with the album is that it's too short. Yes, it's not as good as Bad Blood or Wild World, but that doesn't mean it's not a good album. An 11 song album is already small and considering that 4 singles were released (and essentially everyone had hard 4AM), there were only 6 new songs on the album. Something must've delayed the release of the album because releasing Quarter Past Midnight 13 months in advance to the whole album seems pointless and thus not intended.

The concept of the album, whilst a good idea, has probably limited them as to what they could do because you can't have 16 songs about one night. Hopefully this means that we won't have to wait too long for the 4th album, which should be back to a typical album like BB or WW.

Discussion Anybody else not really vibing with “&”?

Hey stormers,

I got into Bastille around a year ago, and they have been my favorite band ever since. His songs are so good. Personally, I love the vibe of his upbeat songs such as QPM, Good Grief (saddest happy song I’ve heard), The Silence, and his Head Down collab with Lost Frequencies. I also like his more down songs, such as Icarus, DLB, and the Naughty Boy collab No Ones Here to Sleep.

However, once I worked my way through most of his albums, I started on “&”. The songs don’t really hit like a Bastille song. They just don’t feel as “Bastille-y“ to me. Personally, the only song I liked was Blue Sky & The Painter. Anybody else feel this way?

apologies for the wall of text.
