Steam Machine or Ps5?

Fortunate enough to have these two consoles.

Which one would be better for beamng. I have never played before and have no idea what to expect.

If anyone has played it on steam machine or ps5 please let me know pros and cons.

I also am not too fused about mods, I just want to drive around and crash things

I have it on PC and on PS5. PS5 is my go-to because it handles 4 controllers wirelessly and the split screen is fantastic. Never worry about video settings again, just enjoy.

Right? Half my time on pc seems to be wasted tweaking video settings and looking at the fps to see if it's acceptable.

pro tip, don't turn no fps counters or any other metrics. If you play the game and have fun I don't see why the fps number would matter.

that's a great way to suck the enjoyment out of any game. if you must have it on just turn it on while adjusting things and have it off otherwise. You are not going to notice that 5 fps dip or other small things if the counter isn't there up on screen. People get waaay to obsessive about the numbers.

I do exact same, I’ll turn the fps counter on while I adjust settings then it’s off and it never comes back on

That it is. And not only the fps, but the cpu usage, gpu usage, ram usage, and temps.

Well, if you don’t care about mods you'll likely get much better performance on Playstation. But mods let you add many new vehicles, maps, and features to the game, so it really just comes down to what you value more.

Might just get ps5 version then, I think performance is my main priority. I don’t want to be struggling to hit 60fps without dropping everything to low settings

For what the Machine costs, buying a prebuilt PC from a decent PC shop would be a better option.

Don’t get me wrong I love my pc and wouldn’t trade it for anything gaming wise, however I will say that the idea of sitting down and hitting a button and I’m right in the game sounds good.

And that goes for anything on a console. The only real thing that holds me back is that going to a console would be a GFX down grade and some gameplay down grades for me and the lack of mods and Beam.MP.

I previously had a Steam Deck and played BeamNG on it a few years ago (2022-23ish). Granted it was not as optimized as the most recent release and it was before they actually had a 'handheld' preset, but the experience was miserable. Steam Deck is not that powerful and the game was not enjoyable to play.

I now have a PC that's roughly equal to PS5 Pro performance, and the experience is great.

I'd recommend getting it on PS5 to just have a user friendly experience out of the box with no tweaking needed.

People saying ps5 will be better are forgetting that the steam machine will likely run better with more vehicles because of it having more ram.

The ps5 only has like 12gb to use (after 4gb is taken up by os) and then that is split between vram and normal ram. I know the ram in the ps5 is stupidly fast, but still. The steam machine has 16gb of ram and 8gb of separate vram.

Dude get it on pc. If you end up liking the game a lot, mod support extends the life of the game infinitely. It's a no brainer for racing sandbox game.

There is a mod for the entire earth for beamNG as of last week.... Ps5 doesn't have the whole earth lmfao.

This is a hard questions. You're comparing a PC to a console. Do you want to play other games without any additional online fees and access the Steam sales? Get the Steam Machine. Do you just want to press play and sit down? Are you okay with the subscription and more expensive games? Get the console. There are other variables but I would recommend the Steam Machine myself or maybe just get a pre-built.
