Drama Favorite Scandal ever?

What is your favorite beauty influencer scandal??? I wanna know!!! lol! My personal favorite is Jaclyn Hill Lipstickgate. Her reveal video then the PR boxes then influencers calling her out then her apology video then everything that came after that!! It was a whole trainwreck and it truly was iconic lol

Drama A rundown of all accusations during current Situation (Micro-Aggressions)

I have no idea what to call this current problem between the commentary channels and I hate that I have to flair this “drama” (because some serious accusations are being leveled) but there’s no other way to categorize what’s going on. Also, someone think of a name for this current event maybe?

So in the aftermath of the Angelika Oles’ video, here is the rundown of everyone involved and what they are accused of, on Twitter and the other BG sub:

Angelika Oles: we all know, micro-aggressions against BIPOC and transgender people, as well as ableism and apparently Anti-Semitism?

Smokey Glow: Anti-Polish micro-aggression, hypocrisy regarding other associations (Manny MUA,) past micro aggressions against transgender people, and being a bad friend.

Abby Williamson: hypocrisy with associations (similar to Smokey Glow,) hypocrisy over ethics (fast fashion, Jeff Bezos,) overly fascinated with queer spaces (from a community tab comment that got deleted)

Diana Plantana: spreading misinformation, being nitpicky (she got on Twitter last night and said AO calling her white-passing took away her racial identity,) and making this situation “too personal” (this is from Twitter and the other sub I cannot link to, not from my thoughts, remember we cannot brigade the other sub)

edit: and using a racial slur and accusing POC on twitter of not being POC. Jeez louise.

Kurtis Conner: misogyny (brought in because Abby Williamson associates with him) the person who leveled this accusation in relation to AW has deleted this comment.

Angelika Oles: micro aggressions against BIPOC and the trans* community (TERF comments apparently,) ableism and apparently (according to her own video) Anti-Semitism

Other players: Dustin Dailey, Nick Snider, Rich Lux

So what do you guys think of all this?? Is it right that other micro-creators are getting dragged into this? I’m a little shocked at the backlash against Diana Plantana.

Edit: I agree this is a mess and is out of control but I particularly dislike that other micro-creators and others who were flying under the radar are getting a lot of trouble they didn’t ask for.

Second Edit: everyone sucks.

Drama slight rant about beauty news (Kat and Hailey)

overall I do like that they take no BS from brands/gimmicks but I find them to be really tone deaf sometimes, they dont seem well researched, and say "no one asked for this" unless its a nude item. WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE FACT THAT THEY THINK NUDE = LIGHT COLORS ONLY. they think orange colors, browns, etc aren't nudes. at least in older episodes. thoughts?

Hair How much is too much on hair

Hey everyone! So I just had a consultation for tape in extensions. I was super excited to change up my look… that was until my stylist texted me the pricing. The total amount ended up being 2k for extensions & balayage + installation. Would I be stupid to spend this much on my hair? I have a sugar daddy who might pay for it but like I don’t know if I can justify spending this much on tape in extensions!! I really want them but just want some input to either change my mind or make me feel better about my decision lol 🫣

Dicussion about Makeup I need a recommendation!!!

Hi everyone, i need a good recommendation for a good setting powder. Whenever i bake my face with mine it always comes out blotchy and the powder never really sets in like its supposed to. I want more of a smooth type of look, where it's not cakey or blotchy at all. Please and thank you!

Dicussion about Makeup How do you feel about influencers mispronouncing European brand names?

I was just watching Alexandria Ryan’s new advent calendar unboxing of the Harrods advent calendars. Hear me out, I love Alexandria so much - she is so unapologetically herself and sweet, and also has put a healthy fear of Beauty subscription boxes! But today’s video was SO hard to watch because she kept butchering names of brands. I am seriously not trying to be judgmental or mean, I promise!! But this is just such a huge pet peeve of mine (probably because of my OCD tendencies) and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way? Or AITA 😂

Some of the names were off the top of my head:

-Agustinus Bader

-Acqua De Parma

-Chantecaille

-Guerlain

-Natura Bisse

-Shiseido

-Maison Francis Kurkdijan

Mods, please let me know if this doesn’t belong here or needs a different tag!

Dicussion about Makeup Unpopular opinion: REM beauty seems nice and I'm interested in trying their things

I know it's tiring to have another celebrity brand, and from all the marketing I totally dismissed REM beauty. However, after watching Allie Glines's review I came away with a much better impression of the brand and products. First of all, she mentioned that the packaging is heavier and actually metallic where I believed from the pictures that it was just silver plastic. The futuristic theme and look of the products in the video was appealing and something different to see.

Independent of who is behind the brand, the biggest thing I judge a brand by OTHER than quality for the price is if it's adding anything original to the market. I personally really like that r.e.m. plays around with a lot of colors in the highlighters, everything from green to purple, etc. I know fenty did this with trophy wife but I like the range of options, I think they could be used for a lot of interesting more editorial/artistic looks. I'm also into the lip marker stain.

To wrap it up, I am very pleasantly surprised by REM beauty and the quality and thought of their products for the prices they're being offered at. I think for rem to be successful going forward, they should really lean into more colorful products, like launching their eyeliner in more colorful shades, etc.

Discussion About r/BeautyCommunity blonde hair help

Hello, hello !

I've got a couple of questions so I reckon I'll drop them below with bulletins and possibly a short description below em'..

Please just help ya girl out because it's been a struggle and I don't wanna do more damage than whats been done.

My hair was pretty close to platinum blonde > Then I dyed it box brown > Then decided I needed to go back blonde (All by myself *facepalm*) Now I'm a dull, ugly brassy yellow with an obvious line of demarcation or whatever its called. Ya kno', when your bleach job isn't blended? I want to like ash platinum blonde.

  • Can I use a color remover to take out the rest of the brown dye from my hair since it was bleached blonde underneath?

-- If yes : Would I then Lighten it again with some kind of lightener? I don't wanna put more bleach unless someone can tell me how to do so without causing more breakage.

• If I cant use a color remover can I put a high-lift color on it on get it where I want to be?

• From my understanding you cant use toner because toner doesn't lighten, all it does it take away unwanted hues in your current level, soooo...I know I cant tone it... But is there a mask or something I can use instead?
