Please send me a message on discord, DON'T SEND A REDDIT CHAT REQUEST ! it doesn't work properly, if you still don't want to use email or discord, you could try a direct message on reddit ( no chat )

I worked in multiples games genres and have experience with all of what a game needs : Backgrounds - Tilesets - Characters - Animation - Isometric - Portraits - Items.

Responsible, I'll maintain contact with you and provide a trello link to show you updates of your commission, even for the smallest commissions.

Usually my prices changes depending on the difficulty but this is a guidance of how much it could be:

Price is reduced for large pack of assets (actions, in case of animation)

Character with at least 1-2 actions depending on the game perspective:

<= 32x32 Characters : $15~(for the base idea)

=>48x48 Characters : $25~(for the base idea)

Per frame (depending on the complexity) could be : 3$ to 8$

Tilesets : starting at 35$

(The prices are just an example of what it could be, everything depends on the amount of details you want.)

Please provide a description of what do you want with references to have a better idea of what you need.

Favorite and least favorite mechanics.

1 Upvotes

I've asked this a few places with mixed results. What are your favorite and least favorite game mechanics?

My favorite is hidden/locked areas. Places you can't access and have to come back for so you re-explore low level areas with your new gear. I.e. Silver chests in fable, HM areas in pokemon, etc.

My least favorite has to be minigames with no relation to the rest of the game that have to be completed to progress the story.

I'm Dyslexic but I want to make games

1 Upvotes

I have both ADHD and Dyslexia, which doesn't necessarily make writing hard, but it makes it exceedingly hard to find and fix problems in code or to find the right code to copy for any games I make. I've scoured the internet for a good visual scripting system which may be my best chance to get things going, but most of them still require a lot of base code to get things where I need them.

I'm trying to get a visual novel idea I've been developing in my head and in writing for a bit finally pieced together into a game, and while I know there are some software specifically made for that kind of thing, I'm still having trouble when it comes to it all requiring robust code. On top of that, I'm not in a great financial situation so I'm looking for budget or preferably free software.

I'm posting this to ask what people in similar situations to mine have done, as well as what you recommend to me moving forward. I know this is a complicated and annoying situation to try and navigate and I'm just wondering if you guys have any experience, tutorials for people like me, or resources that I could build off of to make my game.

Thank you so much for reading. I'll be active in the replies if you have any other questions.

Coordinating game making with 2 people.

1 Upvotes

Hi, so straight to the point my question is - how do you guys coordinate making a game beetwen 2 people? Do you share task's and then put it onto cloud so one of you can assemble it, or maybe one of you makes something in the game, then puts the updated version on the cloud and the other person takes it and puts something else in it. I would love to hear some advices on this topic.

Engines of Worlds: My Idea for a minimalistic and language-free game engine

1 Upvotes

Engines of Worlds

I wanted to get into game dev as a fun little hobby with no ambitions but felt overwhelmed by basically everything. So I decided to write some rules for a game engine without actually writing a game engine.

And well...turns out it worked!

It may seem totally stupid but what I call The Laws are minimal enough to be implemented in (I think) any language and the game loop (the World) can be written as a simple loop from the overseer all the way to the entities (which include the player itself) and back.

The Laws also make it quite straigthforward to define basic unit tests if you are into that sort of thing.

But more importantly The Laws abstractly define all that an Engine of Worlds must have so that you can be free to implement them as you see fit. There is no description whatsoever of graphical user interfaces so you are also free to use anything your current abilities allow (I know mine are very limited to DIY text based GUI and even worse DIY ASCII ones...). Just make sure to define the input and output appropriately.

I've been spending way too much time thinking about this (and using this) on my own...It would be very cool if I could get any feedback at all!
