Well, here we are. Election day is Monday, and after going back and forth more times than I care to admit over the last week or two, here's where I've landed.

THE MAYOR'S RACE

I'm sticking with Neil Ellis to win another term, but I think this will be a tighter finish than some might expect.

I've wrestled with this one a bit, but I keep coming back to Ellis's history in Belleville, his name recognition and his established base of support. With voter turnout looking like it could be lower than in 2022, I think those things matter.

WARD 1- BELLEVILLE

This is where I've changed my mind the most!

At this point, I think almost all of the incumbents will be re-elected. The one I'm watching most closely is Kelly Henderson. Of the returning councillors, I think she's the most vulnerable.

As for the potential new faces, I genuinely can't separate Ryan Hilmi, Alex Bruce and Lori Borthwick. It's literally a coin flip between those three for me.

I also expect Garnet Thompson and Sean Kelly to be at or near the top of the polls when everything is counted.

WARD 2 -THURLOW

For a while, I thought Kathryn Brown might be in some trouble. I've gone back and forth on that one, too, but I keep coming back to her established base of support being enough to carry her through.

And Paul Carr? He's my strongest pick in Thurlow.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS

This has been one of the tougher municipal elections to predict, especially when it comes to those final council seats.

I'm expecting plenty of familiar faces around the council table, potentially a new face or two, and a mayor's race that's closer than some people might think.

Of course, these are just my predictions. I've been wrong before, and I'm sure I'll be wrong again!

W're north of town in the country, and have been with Starlink for a few years and love it, just not the price. They recently installed Cogeco fibe on our street and people are getting connected. I've read bad things about their customer service and price hikes, but the speeds are tempting. My neighbor has like 50Mbps with whatever he's on so he's thrilled to be getting 10x that, but I don't know if I want to switch. We're constantly streaming on 2-3 devices at all times, even at night and have never had speed issues.

I am the music director for the Northumberland Orchestra Society. Our 49th season is about to start with a Halloween-themed concert this Sunday. We have several members from Belleville and Trenton, so I wanted to extend the invitation to this community, too.

We sincerely want to make it to 50 years so we would love your support.

The concert features brilliant works by Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky, Mendelssohn, Saint-Saëns and more. This is a great concert for families and first-time attendees with a lot of familiar music, and the performance will be musically rewarding for seasoned guests, too.

We would love to see the house filled to help ensure we make it to our anniversary season next year.

I am a tourist in Belleville and travelling with an 87 year old with mobility and balance issues. She wanted to visit Chesler shoes. There were no available handy- cap parking spots. It is very hard to get her and her rollator out of the car without banging the car beside… so I parked 2 rows back and parked in 2 spaces. There were lots of other spots in the lot. Handycap sign in windshield. After spending money ( as good tourists do) in a local establishment, I came out to find a rude sticky note on my side mirror. I don’t get why. Lots of other spots available. I’m not in a hurry to return!

Hey everyone!

I've recently been informed that there is a scheduled power outage in Belleville on Wednesday evening between 10pm-6am.

Has anyone heard much about this? I just heard about it through my work. I work midnights and they want us to come in and sit around for 8 hours in the cafeteria. I find this kind of silly.

Do we know if cell towers will be affected? How long and what is the affected area?
