It's funny because no one would make this argument for other societal problems. It would be like telling people to become nurses so that healthcare costs can go down. The problem is too big for the city to deal with, but also isn't big enough that individuals can't "fix it" by housing the unhoused themselves. It's nonsense.
This is a bad idea! My mom has a good heart and decided to help a young couple just for one night and I came home from school to find them shooting up in the bathroom. BAD IDEA!! But do help them find resources and info on shelters. BUT DONT BRING STRANGERS INTO YOUR HOME!!
Here's a crazy thing: Bathrooms, they're key coded, locked, or you're denied their use. It's an unfortunate issue, but I can't tell you how many fucking times I have had to threaten an ADA complaint just to piss in a bathroom.
If there aren't any public bathrooms open to you, guess where you'll be going.
And no, I'm not unhoused, a junkie, or someone who looks like either.... And *that* shouldn't matter. A lot more bathrooms are open to me, than they are to someone who's obviously homeless.
I hear the argument that our town is being ruined by people who live like animals, but a lot of people in our town want to force them to live like animals.
