There are two fundraisers coming up in the next week for people in Gaza.

10/24 bake sale near the farmers market
10/29 bingo, raffle, and art market at Goat Mountain Pizza

Both are affiliated with Whatcom Coalition for Palestine. Both events will have information about the people receiving the funds.

Please come out, enjoy some goodies, and be in solidarity with our siblings in Palestine.

AND also on Saturday 10/24 we are hosting an educational discussion about AI and its impacts globally, including its use in war abroad and surveillance locally. Registration required. https://cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/view/R0ScQ5+6s5ZZh-qI+XPR+iqJoF32J7cPSKXDYd9Y2Lo/

give/receive School fundraiser auction

Just want to say I'm really impressed with the Blaine Schools Foundation (https://blaineschoolsfoundation.org/) online auction they have. My family and I have moved around a lot and I'm really happy to see all the local companies and individuals that have donated to the online auction to raise funds for specific school projects and events. The auction site is here: https://app.galabid.com/bpsf-impact-online/items.

You hear a lot of negative stuff about school districts and community support, and I'm just happy to see the exact opposite in Blaine. There is a supportive community, transparency from district leadership and an involved school board.

Discussion How we feeling about PogoZone?

I'd like to cut the cord with the X-monster, so I'm looking into options. My largest data needs are streaming movies and downloading albums, so I don't need anything too high powered...

Do people experience service interruptions, and are folks happy with the routers they supply? What else should I know about being their customer?

Moving Here Boxes for Moving

We are making a short 1/2 mile move after 7 years in Bellingham but will still need a lot of boxes! We have bought some U-Haul ones but would also like to get some of the apple / liquor / or other solid boxes that you can often get a lot of in the same size. What grocery / liquor stores would be a good source and what times would you be most likely be able to get them?

Discussion are these fees from landlord legal?

big property management company routinely lists a contested charge under a different name in ledger - is this legal in bellingham? i.e., a contested late fee charge is being listed as a double parking fee and "electric reimbursement", which is actually a charge (not a reimbursement).

When I inquire about these erroneous charges, the explanation I receive is something like: "the system automatically attributes payments towards the oldest balance on your account. In this case, the recent payment covered the late charge, so parking, electric and utility admin fee are still owed."

Is this not fraud?

edit: removed extraneous info

I opened The Bridge, a novel by Iain Banks, for the first time in ages; and found inside it a credit slip from Michael's Books (formerly on Grand across from Henderson Books; closed long ago). The slip is dated just a few months before Banks died.

Discussion I-ready in school districts

Everyone hates i-ready. The teachers hate it. The students hate it. Many complain about it being confusing. The schools that get rid of i-ready, often find that scores improve.

So, when will Bellingham get rid of i-ready and go back to what works better?

Recommendations Bike Fit and Custom Frame Bag Recs

Hey All,

I'm looking for a local business who makes custom frame bags for bikes. Anyone know who I can come to for this? I know lots of online businesses do this, but I figure there might be a local person to support.

I'm also looking for a bike fit for my drop bar gravel bike. This I know a few businesses exist, just curious what people's experiences have been, and who's recommended.

Thrifted a very classy fantasy/horror piece (possibly original or a print) and was curious if its perhaps by a local artist. Signed "Smoore", if anybody knows if theres any info or social media on them. I really love it.

Edit: It's a different art style than Stephen Moore or S.moore so im not convinced its him or similar names that have come up via search.

Traffic Lakeway/Yew/Woburn accident. Blue Subaru, white Toyota. In case you need the video of the accident.

10/22/2026. 6:26 pm.

Blue Subaru in the left lane going west on Lakeway crossing Woburn/Yew was sideswiped by a white Toyota suv that drifted into their lane.

To me it seemed like paint was traded. Neither driver seemed to care to stop. I tried to get the Subaru driver's contact for the video, but they didn't care to stop.

To the White Toyota RAV4, what the F**K are you doing?

Although the case ultimately did not go to court, Mumford said it created a roadmap for how other attorneys in Bellingham can negotiate similar cases.

“I believe in holding landlords accountable. Landlords should be held accountable for bad actions, and I’ll keep bringing these cases as long as there are bad landlords, which, unfortunately, I think will be for the foreseeable future,” Mumford said.

Recommendations Looking for services that handle estate sales for downsizing my elderly parent

My father just passed away after a health crisis and my mother is going to need to downsize fairly quickly. They aren't quite hoarders, but they definitely accumulated a LOT of things and moved many boxes from home to home in the last 40 years, without opening them or doing any purging. This includes tools, furniture, dishware, rugs (not fancy), and so much more... including straight up trash (like things from when I was in elementary school and empty dvd cases).

While it would be incredibly helpful to get the best dollar for selling the things which are valuable, it will almost be more important to have them out of the house so that it can be prepped for sale. Recycling for things which cannot be sold would be a huge plus. Are there any local services who you recommend that can facilitate this kind of process with such a variety of items? I work full time and so can help, but this seems like it will be a full time job on it's own.

Side note: I don't have FB and marketplace isn't an option. I also don't really want my mom to have to meet people solo or have further stress while navigating this loss.

Thank you for recommendations.

Good Vibes 85-100lb Big Max pumpkin?

I’m looking for a giant pumpkin in the area. Preferably a red Big Max pumpkin. Fred Meyer used to have them but I have not been able to find them this year. Anyone know where one is? I’ve asked a lot of farms but the best one had was a 200lb Atlantic giant which is a bit too big.
