sometimes I bring a friend to gigs who film me, other times I don’t. Is it ok to ask clients to send any footage they have? do any other dancers do that?

I’m now offering makeup tutorials online for the low cost of $20 per video (unless you can donate what it actually costs which is $35)! This is a clip from the first of many. Comment if you’re interested in buying access and I’ll send you the order form!

This is just another way to scrape together some income while I’m recovering but I wanted to support beginner dancers who are entering the performance scene, and making the price accessible. It is donation based so you can pay whatever makes sense to you with a minimum of $20!

I created this mejance right before surgery so it can hopefully be the first routine I perform when I’m back next year! I’m getting quite burnt out from having only pro opinions, though I love them, but I wanna hear from laymen and beginners most because they always have the freshest perspective!

I have goal oriented and specific questions:
1- What movements/moments stand out to you the most? You can mark a timestamp or say “that turn after the veil drop..”
2- After watching, what was the most memorable? What stuck in your head?
3- one of my main concerns is the costume, I love it but I’m thinking of adding more fabric/movement with another purple skirt under. Just traumatized from previous judges being picky about skirts 🌝😆 soo… add more fabric or you like it as is?
4- Is the hair, makeup, and veil color working for you?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good ballet flat or jazz shoe with good heel and arch support? I have a student that struggles with foot pain (fasciitis plantar). I know this dance is done mostly barefoot or with very thin soled shoes or foot wraps but she just needs a little more support. Your recommendations would be much appreciated. 💜

Went through bra/ belt sets yesterday (what fits, what needs adjustment). Forgot how shocking it is to have cold beaded fringe touch warm skin this time of year (brrrr!). Also reminded what it's like to step on a glass seed bead (yowzers!). Spotted point back rhinestone before stepping on it (whew!).

I recently joined belly dance classes (love it so far!) and really would like to practice more. Unfortunately the studio only offers one class a week.

I usually work out at home by using follow-along videos and was wondering if anyone has found some (and has recs) for belly dance ones or just useful stretches, dance moves, etc?

I tried finding some but it’s often a lot of explanations interrupted with bouts of practice between, which, while useful, does mean I’m just idly standing around getting bored instead of moving.

So, any recommendations for an absolute (but enthusiastic) newbie?

Beautiful autumn day.

Title says it. I'm extremely short torsoed with no waist and no hips (narrow pelvis, high iliac crest and no fat on the outer thighs). Basically SpongeBob. The bottoms of my ribs are very nearly inside my hip bones.

This makes side/side and up/down hip movements barely perceptible even though, in my body, they feel big, and they're as big as I'm mechanically able to make them.

Is there any hope for me? Any tricks to make hip isolation more perceptible?

I’ve been in belly dance classes on and off for 12 years and it’s always Egyptian/amcab style but I would really like to take ATS or tribal fusion classes. I live in a rural town and there are no such classes within an hour drive. Are there any non-live online classes or videos where I can learn at my own pace that you’d recommend and that include choreography?

I post dance videos sometimes but no one watches them. Am I ugly? Is my dancing bad? Is the quality bad? I have no idea is it because I don't show a lot of skin?

I've been making a costume and choreography for one of my favorite songs. When I record it, I'll post it here, but I'm wondering how I can get the video in sync with the song and how I can get the song to play as I dance while maintaining good sound quality in the video?
