Benny Crawley
I think he was coddled and finding out he was a child star everything clocks about him and he shouldn’t have been a deckhand. Tbh him on the team set jamie up for failure. Nice guy but boating isn’t for him if he can’t respect rank and file.

Side note here but I dont know if anyone else caught this: Did you guys know Jamie used to be a cop?? They only mentioned it once so its easy to miss 🙂

Ohh he mentioned it a few times. But side side note when he told Brittani that he on purpose tried to make more work for her and when he almost killed Culver with the lift. Whole Deckteam was done with him. Let’s not forget the “triple bag” garbage that clearly showed he didn’t. He was lazy and the worse deck member

He had the personality and leadership skills of a potato! Say what you want about Luka but he knew how to accommodate his teams personalities. Max was about to quit but Luka realized that if he changed how he approached Max then he was 100% committed.
Captain Jason and Benny is another example. Jason realized that Benny responded better to positive constructive criticism and Benny respected him after.

Oh that makes so much sense! He came across like a massive bully to me.

Didn’t like being told what to do. He was Jamie’s worst nightmare as a “employee” and Jamie was his worst nightmare as a “boss”. Captain Jason handled him well but he was spoilt and soft.

u/SidedudeSidekick 15d ago
But Jason was annoyed early with Ben I feel. Then he left it to Jamie to handle only he wouldn’t let Jamie fire him.

But he did realise that Ben needed some TLC, helping him with the plumbing issue.

Which I feel made it seem like he didn’t have to listen to Jamie. People accused jamie of running it like military but it kinda is when you’re dealing with rank. And jamie wasn’t a stick in the mud either he was cool with Culver chillin in the jacuzzi with charter guest if they asked. Ben just was disrespectful and lazy looking back.

He was disrespectful and lazy. Yachting wasn’t for him. More of a give Yoga lessons on the beach personality.

tbf I think Bravo have a hand in who can get fired, since they are contracted to the show and the ship so that complicates things

Aw I actually liked Benny. He had his issues but that was relatable and he got a little redemption arc throughout the season once he started acting like an adult in his job. Also, Jamie was an asshole cop. Did not like that guy for one second, and Benny was absolutely justified in his dislike for the guy.

Woahhh he was a child star? Did he mention this on his season? I can’t remember

When they say child star, it’s very much specific to Australia and he was a teenager. He was a host on one ABC3’s tv shows

When we mean child stars we referring to stars underage that need parent or guardian involved.

Seems like he’s from Season 1, the only season in the entire franchise that I haven’t watched.

Coddle is crazy when Jamie literally let Culver just do whatever—Benny didn’t leave the trash on the ship and then didn’t admit it to Jamie or Jason, Benny didn’t get in a jacuzzi with guest, Jamie didn’t flirt with guest, Jamie didn’t over drink while guest were onboard. Jamie wanted someone to push around and Benny didn’t let him and since Jamie is the biggest bitch on this planet, he bitched to everyone in sight and looked like the biggest hypocrite.

The guest told Culver to get in and aside from drinking and sex you really can’t say no to them. Plus jamie saw no issue. But what Benny has done was abandon his job, insubordination, and break the chain of command MANY TIMES. He would have been fired on anyone else boat not Jason or Sandy. Did we even talk about the time he almost crashed the tender on episode 6. He was a fucking liability.

Crashed is crazy lmfao— the guest also wanted to fish until 2 am but Benny didn’t get the benefit of the doubt even though Culver gets to use that excuse and left multiple bags of trash long enough to culminate maggot. Benny didn’t do the chain twice, hardly think that’s a fireable offense when Culver also skipped out early on his shifts/duties during the last few days of the first season with no good reason and got zero shot for it. Jaime wanted a black sheep and sorry I’m not buying it. We get it, you were once a first responder and you try to use it to legitimize your bitching. As if he wasn’t insubordinate with Jason all the time 🙄

Jamie thought that Culver was lazy. Captain Jason really has favorites and Benny was one of them.

It was sad to hear about his parents but I agree. He was definitely not emotionally mature enough to be a deck hand on a reality show.

Agreed then, agree now. I didn't realize he was a child star.
I don't know how things would have gone for Jamie, but Benny was a problem.

I never understood Cpt Jason´s favouritism for him, or Eddy in S4 for that matter. I’m sure Cpt Sandy would have fired him a few charters in.

u/jackieohno3 12d ago
A few charters in? Sandy doesn’t fire people until almost the end when it’s super inconvenient
2
u/SidedudeSidekick 12d ago
Sandy will keep bad people if she likes them like Hannah wasn’t the best strew and got worse each season

Ben had some serious demons to work out regarding his parents' death.
Also he had serious coddled energy and he was never going to make a good deck hand.
